Remembering Playland then and now

Playland had everything a child could ask for, from a roller coaster, to games, to a fun house. Along with the Sutro Baths, this would be a prime destination for San Franciscans. While I thought it closed down in 1974, it was actually 1972. At its height it drew in about 50,000 visitors, but it dwindled down to just a handful. While the real estate was still "prime" Playland had seen better days, by the early 70s, a contractor had bought the land and developed it into the condominiums and retail space.

My folks use to go there and it’s a shame it was bulldoze for housing 😡🤦🏻‍♂️

You know I miss the arcades underneath the cliffhouse, I know they are at Pier 39 area, we should definitely go there sometime when you're back in town
