As a former V-8 owner of a 400 small block with flowmasters I feel your pain. Freeway driving was actually painful.

Ben, I got rid of my Cobb catback a few weeks ago. Even with a Vibrant Ultra-Quiet resonator it wasn't bearable for more than my daily commute...its not the decibels...its the Hertz (frequency)...if you run a sound frequency meter, you'll find the drone hits around 80-90hertz at 2500rpm and goes away around 3k, at which point all you hear is that glorious deep exhaust note. If you can get a j-pipe or heimholtz resonator built in to kill that frequency, you may find a huge difference.

I have always had that rear cover on mine, I’ll have to take mine out too and see if the drone picks up. Also my buddy had the Cobb exhaust and even with his cover it’s worse than my awe in cabin drone.
I think AWE is just higher quality tbh

This is so amazing, I was wondering if this would help. My new exhaust drones so bad that it scares my 1 year old sometimes if I give it any throttle. Mine is REALLY bad at 2500-3k RPMf if I give it any throttle. If I open my windows the drone almost goes completely away so I figured that this would help break up the sound waves and kill a lot of the drone.

Curious what the specs are on your exhaust set up, just bought a '14 ST3 in your color with stock exhaust with muffler/resonator delete and not really liking it

I run a catless downpipe with a mbrp 3inch it doesn’t drone to much to be honest and it’s loud enough
I have a catless downpipe and 3inch straight pipe all the way back and I don't mind it..lol.. my se was catless and straight piped and it was louder than my st

Here's my input on this drone dilemma.
1) Buy a quieter exhaust
2) Buy some sound deadening matierial
3) Weld in another resonator
4) Keep the DP/Exhaust stock (No drone, quiet).

Yes! Do all that I can to avoid it haha and it is super common with these cars
I’m 3in straight pipe from the turbo back.. and yeah drone is pretty bad but I got used to it lol..
the ford performance has virtually no drone and it gets quiet-loud once you rip on it but cruising you can't even tell you have an exaust
I have mine already added but man it is still really bad. I have a 7 hour drive coming up in the ST and it is gonna be killer.
Also the subwoofer should be fine, I know in my honda I had my subs in my trunk with no issues. Especially with it aiming inwards ish.
Sound system upgrade next 🤣🤣🤣. Enjoy. Much better than stock. It was fairly cheap too. Well... Somewhat cheap.
Should also note. Not sure if I did before, sound deaden the spare tire pan. HUGE difference. Spare tire will still fit.

@@BenLovrien I'll dm you some photos. You can do a better job than I did. I plan on going back and adding a bit more to the wheel wells. I ran out of time. And the sound system? I might have a crappy audio recording but you can tell the difference.

@@greecoboost I sent a almost done photo to Ben on FB. But yes. It works amazing. I did the hatch itself and the pan. Sure it's a couple extra pounds but it makes the car so much more enjoyable to drive. I used noico but dmat is probably better 😅

Adding the trunk cover will only enhance bass not loose it.
I actually noticed the bass had more clarity when I was listening to music, crazy how that works.
Very nice that you improved the experience you have in the car. I noticed the same with my ST. that thin piece of whatever you call it, really makes that much difference. Not drone related, but a set of EU back headrests would also be a very nice upgrade. See you in the next video, have a nice weekend. #TrueOG
