- Not uncommon in the world of waterfowls, forced and sometimes even aggressive mating is nonetheless an unusual and disturbing sight. The mallard duck (Anas Platyrhynchos) which is one of the most widespread water birds, is quite known for this type of violent behavior. In this scene, a female mallard is lucky to escape alive after an intruding male tries to force copulate with her. In an endless battle, the male paired to the female is trying with great efforts to fight off the aggressive other male. In the end, the female escapes with her life after nearly drowning during the battle. Violent acts of a sexual nature like this occur in the wild as desperate animals will sometimes use whatever way to mate and ensure that they reproduce.

That's been going on in our pond all day.
The same mated pair showed up a couple days ago and then today several other Drake's showed up and it's just been chaos they about beat her to death.
The pair are actually laying right up against the house right now they dont want to go back to the pond
Can someone please answer this…
I have had male and female couple in my yard and pool for months. I assume drake went off to molt. Will I recognize him when he returns? A couple of other drakes have tried wooing the female but I’m wondering if I’ll know when the original is back. I started to recognize his markings and things but after he began molting, he took off. Been only a week but curious if their same markings come back?
Poor female there practically drowning her death horrific
Wowowowow...
