Ya, I came to comment that too. To be fair it is confusing that Nethergotf is the only goyf that works that way - especially considering there's 3 other goyfs in the cube that work the normal way, lol. Still, that's why it gets to cost only 1 mana without just being a strictly better Tarmogoyf.
This right here. I feel like 99% of the time LSV just drafts to have fun and do weird crap, and then he puts on his Saitama serious face and reminds people why exactly he’s one of the greatest drafters ever.
I blew out Frank Lepore while he was streaming with containment priest. Card is nuts when it's good and totally playable when it doesn't affect their deck at all.
A lot of games I've seen go dominantly one way are the aggro decks in this newer version of cube. I wonder if the combo-y decks are just hindered too much now or maybe too difficult to piece together.
I feel like they really need at least SB sweepers to have a good shot. Too much of what they do relies on life total as a resource, and white has the one-two punch of having a lot of disruption that is also attached to bodies with good stats.
The mid range decks are fast, resilient and have tons of card advantage and redundancy baked in. The red midrange threats in particular are absurd (Gut, Broadside, Inti, Headliner alongside the existing Fury, Pyro, Ragavan threats), I think red is just the best color in the cube atm. Unless the combo decks have enough fast mana and tutors to get going immediately, they often just get overrun by these midrange decks before they can win. Combo backed up by fast mana is still very strong. Breach lotus/LED brain freeze is still one of the best combos in the cube. The issue is that you don't have a lot of redundancy, so you need tutors and if you miss on any of the combo piece, your deck just doesn't do much. Conversely the midrange threats are able to just pickup almost as good replacements in the draft if they miss their best targets and have a bunch of threats that are all must kills in game.
Ita so weird when the Cube starts to lean into synergy decks, that the fair WW decks end up the ones running counter to the rest of the Cube. Way to find the open lane!
At 26:58 I understand the reasoning behind fetching Skullclamp (over Kaldra), but I don't understand casting and equipping it when you could have used the mana to cast Copter.
He hinted that it was an insurance against removal. If they kill the Mystic he's left with just a copter in play and nothing to crew it with. No creatures in hand and no pressure.
@@worschtebrot I guess, but I would generally be pretty happy to have my opponent spend a removal spell on a vanilla 1/2. Casting Skullclamp without Smuggler's Copter just increases the damage dealt the following turn by 1, whereas casting the Copter increases it by at least 2, and possibly 3, if they don't remove it.
Jules scratching the rug "just for value" is the most LSV thing I've ever heard.
LSV remembered his Thraben Inspector rant after being interrupted, that's a true professional. (and I was actually curious to hear his point)
😆
She's scratching the carpet for value.
That killed me
Gotta get the free scratches in.
That was the best quote ever and the sole reason i wanted to post a comment.
0 Land hand for the win is an absolute mad lad play
Given what he saw game 1, I def agree with the keep. He ended up not needing to draw the Plains immediately, but he had no way to know that.
23:50 the goyf actually won’t get bigger, since it’s only your opps graveyard that counts.

A rare sub 1 hour trophy run. Seems like LSV’s shorter videos are always him getting destroyed. Nice to see the 3-0 speedrun every now and then.
God I felt like Jessie from Breaking Bad in m3g3. "HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!"
I thought he was going to miss the Kaldra for a second and clenched up.

You lose 8 life and remove a creature card from your graveyard from the game.

"That's a real story in three parts there."
"there's a Bad Lands, but that doesn't seem too great" 😂
Scratching the rug “for value”.
Nice speedrun! The last time you won the 64 player draft was also with white weenie, good luck!
This feels like a sandydog approved deck
40 minute 3-0. That’s how you draw it up.
Man, I’m always worried when it’s a 40 minute video. It’s rare that he drafts a deck that can win 3 matches that fast.
9:49 "I really impressed with Serra Paragon, sometimes you can play land with it in the same turn". So... like Lurrus, but better?
I like your talking point about WW being fast, disruptive, and resilient as it's strength.
first you see the video is 43 min long and expect the worst, then you remeber that the drought is over and that we are only getting straight dubs :D
Love watching lsv mtgo vintage cube! I have watched them all.. Every single one.
When you hear LSV saying "hear me out, hear me out" as he looks down at a zero lands hand :D
3 Moxen in one pack is wild.
23:48 - Nethergoyf is just "your graveyard". Otherwise it would be strictly better than Tarmogoyf.
Hope all your family starts to feel better soon.
Did not expect that random "Basta!" at the dog, very funny 😂
"She's scratching the rug... for value."
When you said that you "cast containment priest and win the game" I assumed that was hyperbole.

22:22 I didn't realize I had been leaving so much free value on the table, I gotta implement that into my gameplay immediately
Seeing a single elim draft video be 44 minutes long made me expect the worst and made watching LSV 3-0 all the more exciting
I blew out Frank Lepore while he was streaming with containment priest. Card is nuts when it's good and totally playable when it doesn't affect their deck at all.
Don't sleep on the importance of flip equity
Oh Traben! Wait no! A Kaldra. Just as intended 😂

@@Joshuralize White does have a ton of 2 for 1 creatures. Definitely wins in the aggro/midrange vs aggro/midrange matchups.
I do miss the days of LSV stringing together storm wins

Skullclamp is my favorite card ❤
I like it with Hangarback Walker 😊
When he was back and forth between Skullclamp and Balance, I was like “Skullclamp! Skullclamp!” And my wife was laughing at me. 😂
"40 minute video and it's not combo? I wonder where this went wrong.."
"..oh"

Turns out you don't understand the reasoning behind fetching clamp, I suppose.
5:51 MTGO trying to force LSV into forcing storm!
Nethergoyf only counts its owners gy btw. So you could've loot with Copter there.
nutty deck, sad lurrus didn't show up :(, but I stand by mox pearl being the second best mox behind mox jet
