You have a niche audience. Just so happens, I am a member of that niche. Love your productions!

Like the image @ 26m where the Atlas liftoff is shown in the background with the Titan and Gemini XI in the foreground.
And the bonus @ 64 m of the GT-XI liftoff with the Saturn V (500F) checking things out at Pad 39.
The Gemini flights were my favorite back then--a launch just about every two months, and that spacecraft was a hot rod!

Thanks for clarifying that Saturn V in the background of the launch. A tester for the launchpad 39. Makes sense now.

That’s the 500F (for “Facilities”) all right. The operational Saturn 5s lacked the horizontal black stripe around the middle portion of the first stage. The S-4B markings were different also. We lost the Apollo 1 crew about four months after this mission and everything got set back about a year.

There is an amazing image on screen at 5:00 - the very first Saturn V to be rolled out is sitting on Pad 39A about 7 1/2 miles in the background - this was the Saturn 500F test vehicle, rolled out on May 25th 1966 - it stayed there for five months until returning to the VAB in October. It was not a flight-capable vehicle. The first stage was scrapped, the second stage is part of the Saturn V display at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, and the third stage was used as a dynamic test article during the Skylab program.

You as usual bathe us with amazing videos! The pictures with the liftoff and a Saturn V in the background gave me chills!

All about the Gemini spacecraft and the astronauts and liftoff control that's amazing to first orbit.

2:12 Neil Armstrong in the orange shirt. He was commander of Gemini 8 which experienced the control problem in orbit.

Old school manned space flight , we did a lot back then with 60's technology

    Great coverage, as always.
07:37 - Hadn't seen this image previously - THIS should've been the official crew portrait!
15:36 - Since when was Pan Am involved in launch operations?

Another great job Simon, I grew up in Chicago in the 60s and 70s. Yes as you have stated this is NBC audio WMA Q with NBC station in Chicago. The station was sold some time ago and is now in all sports station named 670 the score they carry the Chicago Cubs during baseball season. Great to hear the audio again, just where do you find it all keep digging. Another great piece of work regards Jim can't wait to see and hear what's next ..

Fun fact- Conrad urged Congress to pressure NASA to make Gemini 11 circumlunar :) would have involved docking the capsule with a Centaur booster for the very first TLI burn for a crewed spacecraft.

As it is, Conrad and Gordon hold the LEO altitude record.

@@eddiekulp1241 Yep you're right. Hence why the proposal failed. The cost of strengthening the heat shield and the risk factor was enough to shelve the plan.

Great footage of the launch of the Gemini 11 Agena and Gemini elements.
Gemini 12 was also scheduled to make a high-altitude boost with its Agena target vehicle, but that maneuver was scrubbed after problems developed with the Agena's turbo pump during the boost phase. I have never found whether Gemini 12 aimed to break Gemini 11's 853 mile-high apogee record? If somebody has this info I would like to know.
The early space program of the 1960's was just so darn exciting!

Kinda sad for Bill Anders. A capable, tough astronaut who ended up in the backwater because he just missed a Gemini crew and was LMP on Apollo 8.

The old balloon tank Atlas was one of the best sounding rockets for the first two minutes after liftoff. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to hear much from this one…

@@lunarmodule5 Jay Barbaree must have decided that was his Two Minutes of Fame.. That PAO (Jack Reilly) was so boring on the Apollo missions he would put me to sleep. I am SO glad what you are doing for us is the Flight Director loop.
