Please tell Bishop Varden that I prize his diction and annunciation. His elevated manner of speaking is refreshing. As a medical resident, I am constantly being criticized for what I do and say. The expectation is to be excellent. I’m happy to see a Bishop speaking excellently and calling us to the manner of Antony’s excellence.

Thank you Bishop Varden for the Desert Fathers series. I have been very interested in learning more about them since I first started to read up on them last year. This series is a welcome exploration of these very important and influential men. I am currently reading two books about them ( The Desert Fathers -sayings of the early Christian Monks, and The Desert Fathers - Saint Anthony and the beginnings of Monasticism )

Thank you so much for the series, these firsts episodes have been such a blessing in my life. I just felt like the monk that just needed to see Abba Antony to get comfort and peace. Thanks to Bishop Varden for his beautiful responses and advice, I have laughed, cried, and praised the Lord through him. Thanks to all you guys from Exodus 90 for this great work. Big fraternal hugs from the Republic of Panama.

I wonder if Bishop Varden has ever heard of Francis of the Desert. He was before Antony.

Why do I love certain sin so much?

You don't love them. You crave from them. If you love them you would reject their why. So, love your body love your soul love your neighbours and love your God with a spirit of gratuity, that's how we'll show we are a disciples of Him who sustain us in Love

Do you have a spiritual director? If not, discuss this with your Confessor, and make a habit of frequent Confession. God will help you by His grace to detach from habitual sins if you sincerely make an effort to cooperate with His grace. Frequent Communion and frequent Confession, Holy Hours, Scripture reading, and a regular prayer life will eventually supersede your attachment to sin. Don’t give up and don’t get discouraged. Persevere on the path to holiness, even if you keep slipping and falling. Get up and begin again. God bless you and may the Lord grant you all the grace you need to do His Holy Will. 🙏✝️

@ I don’t believe I have had a good confession, since my conversion. try , near me, but it’s not thorough. I don’t have spiritual direction now. I want it, but it’s hard to find one that fits. I’m not a “general “ person cause of my severely checkered past.and mental health issues. I’m trying hard, and there’s been big changes since my conversion, but I’ve been static in my walk of faithfulness to my Spouse (Jesus). I’m not sure if I can ever get past my issues that’s haunting me now. I do keep trying, mainly cause it’s the most important thing to me.

By God’s grace, you can. I’m a convert with a messy but forgiven past and ongoing emotional issues, so I depend on the power of God’s grace, particularly in the Sacraments. Do your best in Confession to be honest. They’ve heard it all before. I will pray for you. 🙏

Great chat. The whole world woke up to find itself Arian!
When will the whole world wake up to find itself anti-Christ?
