    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  11 місяців тому +2

      That's true, there's probably a lot more money to be making in storm cleanup and a load of dirt.

    • @Tripring2000
      @Tripring2000 11 місяців тому

      @@TKCL yes storm debris removal is a very lucrative proposition . You see all of the trailers, dump trucks and dump trailers with plywood extensions on the sides so they can haul bigger loads which equates to more money per load. I know several guys that made some serious legitimate money after Hurricane Michael hauling debris.
      Unfortunately storms of this magnitude also brings out corruption when dealing with FEMA funding. We’ve had a couple of local ongoing scandals where several elected officials and local business owners conspired together and basically stole over 5 million dollars of taxpayer money. We will never get the whole truth from what actually happened, but several people are currently serving some jail time for it.

      On the Stephanie Moratto channel they built out some nice stalls cheaply in a metal pole barn they had built. I think they did 5 or 6 stalls and a tackroom. We did similar ones in our 2808 sq ft quonset barn but with 9 stalls. We can fit 12 but we have a tackroom and hay storage/feed area and added a milkroom that we put a drain in the floor so it can double as a horse washroom (even tho FL doesnt need an indoor washroom lol).

      Last time I bought gravel it was cheaper to get larger granite gravel than asphalt millings. No kidding. If you go with a large granite gravel/rock make sure it has quite a bit of fines in it so you can walk on it and it be stable. It definitely won't blow away with blower.

    Andrew and Tiffany, Congrats on the new building. After your suggestion a few months back, I finally bought two buildings (30'x48'x14' & 24'x36'x10') from James and Jesse at Backwoods Buildings in Chipley about 6 weeks ago. They gave me a nice discount after I told them we were Patreon members of your channel, and you highly recommended them. They spoke very highly of you, and we thank you for that. Great customer service, good people. The hurricane screwed us up royally, so we are still trying to get trees cleaned up and the buildings up. If you don't mind saying, how much will your crew charge to put that 30'x48' up for you? Thanks again for what you do. I know you never ask for donations or members, but it is the best money anyone could spend if they are learning from you.

  • @rb2530
    @rb2530 11 місяців тому +1

    I would scrape off the Sod and top soil. Always build on undisturbed ground. IE: Peel that cover soil off so you have a good foundation in case you ever decide to put a concrete pad in. Organics are not load bearing and any future pad will crack if it does not have a good base. Scrape the top off and that dirt you replace it with will make an excellent base for a future concrete pad. A buddy of mine had to do that very thing. He had to dig up his entire pole barn floor to get down to undisturbed soil when he went to put a concrete pad in several years after he erected the barn. The concrete people dug a test hole to see what was under his gravel base and found the topsoil and grass. They would not put their name on a job if it was not done properly.

    I kinda wanted to wait to post my response on the roof side.. I know you just have a thicker steal metal roof but I really think with the your position and where you are located Zip system 5/8" Roof & Wall Sheathing, 4' × 8' on the roof before laying down your metal sheathing.. This does a few things first thing is it helps insulate the heat off the metal roof next it also provides some protection from larger hail and debris. Also since this is going to be a wood shop it would come into handy if some thing was to fly off the blades and go to the ceiling.. Just a thought. Otherwise it looks amazing! What's your plans on the solar system? I am curious as all get out! You could trench a line and put in a line all the way yes its expensive but its also a thought depending on the mill you go with. Idk the more I think about it Zip system all the way around even on the walls even if you double layered it OSB the Zip system on the outside would be better in your area.. You have some weather to contend with and very very strong winds to worry about in your area.. Also thinking about longevity some as well.

    Looks like the good advice about talking to your wife before you finalize if you've got somebody with Professional Knowledge willing to share that with you you have to kind of listen even if it's a little bit against what you wanted to hear kind of like the song says thank God for us answered prayers y'all keep up the great work and I think it was your last video you made a comment about storm clean-up you know people that don't understand that aren't realistic always remembering you got to do what you got to do what the whiners do not like the people not whining have no problem with not everyone's going to be a home run

    • @tanyabailey2784
      @tanyabailey2784 11 місяців тому

      Most likely wood will be for firepit fires that people enjoy in the evenings!!

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  11 місяців тому

      Plenty of people here burn outdoors and have entertaining areas. Id be willing to bet more firewood is consumed for recreational purposes in the US than for heating. We still have people here that have indoor fireplaces. Last year we had one single digit day with wind chill, some teen days and a bunch of 20 degree days. Anything in the 70s or lower, fire pits pop up everywhere.

      Not trying to be rude but that’s not a question we should ask couples. Some times infertility is a issue & really hurts when the question is asked. I’m not saying they have an issue. I’m just saying we shouldn’t ask that question unless they choose to bring it up in a vlog.
