Sweet. I love seeing Pros having a good time dancing. Sometimes it's part of the performance (and I get that; every dance can't be the mostest funest) so it's great to see how much some of you still love dancing. Kudos to you both for keeping the magic going strong!

Lyrics said "Jesus is gone." Ben made the shape of a cross & ran off. It was funny.

@@blittster What was even funnier was that he did the previous spin in order to use those lyrics, and realized he was too early and so had to do the spin again. You see his face, just before the second spin. He is saying, internally, oh, here it comes now. :)

I love how smooth they are together. I'm old enough to know swing dancing popular back in the 40's. It's amazing I how it's been taken to a new, more contemporary level. QUESTION - Where did Torri get those shoes? I love the style (Mary Jane) and the height of the heel.

Hey! I just wanted to say that I really appreciate seeing someone enjoying how this dance has evolved. I'm younger than you and discovered WCS quite recently. I love it, watch a lot of performances on UA-cam, and it saddens me to see disparaging comments about how "this young generation doesn't know anything about swing". I'm new to this style and it may not look like what it used to be, but it doesn't mean it's bad. 🤷🏼‍♀️

So I was hitting "Jesus is gone"...And the first spin I did I meant to set it up but I was a couple lines early haha.

Curious question ---I just realized that Maxime and Torri are married since her name has changed. Does anyone know of any of the WCS dancers that are married or dating couples?

Where has the (SWING) music gone? West Coast Swing? I don't think so, not any more! Not even mild rock. Elevator music!

There is plenty of Lindy to watch, if you wish to have "swing" music. :) Not sure what elevator's you ride, but, I would love to ride them, if this is some of the music played, I love it. :) We all love different things. Perhaps be happy that everyone gets something they love, rather than attacking what you don't love. :)

@John Williamson Exactly! No "Swing" anywhere in sight! No rhythm, no energy, no goosebumps. Just "huh???".
@lyoni fisher The point here is that calling this dance some sort of "swing" is like calling a McDonald's hamburger some sort of non-gmo organic banana. One has nothing to do with the other. Anyone with a basic knowledge of music history knows what swing is and how it came to be and how dance evolved to fit that music. The people who named this creation "swing" were either very misinformed or purposefully deceitful. And not particularly inspired either.
@benjamin birdsong Actually John's comment proves he put thought into it because he was quickly able to spot the problem with this dance. It is simply in no way even remotely connected to swing! So who hasn't put much thought into this?

What you're talking about is traditional swing which predates the non traditional types that you see a lot more of. Even though this is not the same dancing "style" as Lindy hop (being up beet and hoppy) it is a derivative of Lindy hop and shares a ton of similarities (hence why it is considered a swing dance). If you are looking for your "swing" music look into traditional swing dances. The variations tend to cover a lot more bases as far as the music that can be danced to them which include both slower and faster as well as blues and contemporary. (sorry for bad grammar typing fast and not enough time)

@@Steve-fo4jx I love this reply. I have done West Coast Swing for 26 years, and I love it with a passion. I know its roots. I have seen it evolve, and fallen in love with the evolution. It was amazing 30 years ago and even better now. I love growth in all areas of life. I loved it when people called it Swustle, and I love it now. But, I also know that it isn't for everyone. It did used to look like Lindy in a slot, since that was its roots, and that is fun, but, to me, this version has more versatility, and there are more music choices etc. I suppose I am someone who loves more, and dislikes limitations, give me expansion and variety, and I am so happy. Does it make it harder for me to dance it, now that the young ones are so athletic and able to do things I can't, maybe, but, I'll take harder over stagnant. The smoothness of it feeds my soul. I can appreciate others loving Lindy, but, I love West Coast. Generally we drop the word swing on the end of both of those dances, maybe we should all do that so that people could just appreciate it for what it is, rather than get caught up in semantics. In the end, all I can say is, I fucking love it, and I wouldn't want a world in which it doesn't exist. Thank you world for this gift, it makes me happy just thinking about dancing it. :)
