  • Immersion is the new buzzword when it comes to the presentation of contemporary art, and the way the life of Claude Monet is told at the Ostra Studios in the Dresden exhibition centre is a great story in itself.
The centrepiece of 'Monet's Garden' is a room measuring perhaps ten by thirty metres. Here you can immerse yourself in the life of the French artist. His works not only come to life on the walls, but also accompany the visitor on the Impressionist's journey to his garden in Giverny, north-west of Paris. This is where the famous water lily paintings were created.
According to Wikipedia, hype is a lot of fuss about an object, thing or person. Nowadays, art installations have to be somehow immersive. I don't think hype has a long half-life. I've already seen "Van Gogh - The Immersive Experience". When I read my text from then, I can still feel my enthusiasm. Today, the "wow" effect is not as great and I don't need another immersive experience any time soon.
