JESUS' KINGDOM and the RESURRECTION (An Easter Sunday Sermon)
Without a doubt, Easter Sunday-- the day when Christians from all around the world celebrate Jesus' resurrection-- is the most significant feast day of the church calendar. As many New Testament scholars have noted, if it weren't for the resurrection, Jesus would have been utterly forgotten after his crucifixion- just another man in a line of failed, would-be Messiah's.
In this sermon we take a closer look at the doctrine of the resurrection and why it matters so much. However, in order truly understand the significance of the resurrection, we need to revisit the teachings of Jesus- especially his teachings on the Kingdom of God. Only when we understand what Jesus meant by the Kingdom can we understand why his resurrection matters so much.
