The return of the triplet theme at 13:18 and the crescendo at 13:40 leading up to the recapitulation lives rent free in my head ever since I heard it. This whole movement feels like you're walking in some kind of pastel or oil painted dream hoping to find some lost clue to a past trauma, seeing someone you remember from long ago from behind, and just as they're turning their head at the final moment of revelation, waking up and never hearing the answer.
Upon hearing this, and recalling that Beethoven’s late period was more “reflective” and arguably very Romantic, I thought to myself, “THIS movement alone is the heart of the pensive/individualistic tone which Beethoven displays in his late period”. With respect to being Romantic, it is easy to hear many of the influences this movement (and sonata) had on other Romantic composers, especially Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schubert, and Liszt. No wonder this sonata is considered by critics to be his best!
This should be Kempff, for me, it is too fast. The Beginning rushes, it's gotta be more thoughtful i may say. In this third Movement - just take your time !! Don't rush away... And yes, this Movement is one of the greatest Achievements of Piano Music !!
Although he was writing for his brand-new, iron framed Broadwood piano which inspired the last 5 sonatas, the speed played here would have kept up the momentum as modern instruments have more sustaining power. This maintains the flow of sound.
those responsible for comertials ruining those beautiful moments of this beethoven's music - or classical music overall -, hope they will end up in hell... imagine if pop music had comertials in between, people would get enraged and mad totally...
One of the highest piano moments ever written. Simply beautifull, there're no words to describe it.
7:07 one of the most beautiful melodies I will probably ever hear

Brano libero nell'ispirazione e allo stesso tempo solido ed equilibrato nella sua forma classica.
L'ennesimo capolavoro di Beethoven.
The Adagio has a Chopin like moment (minute 2.23 to minute 3.07) Wonderful
Hard to imagine that a human being conceived of this.
So beautiful to be able to follow the partition... Thank you... Magnificent.
Sublime malinconia e rassegnazione
Really great analysis! It helps to see clearly the structure of this sublime masterpiece of Art. Thanks!
2:33 dancing pain...
That's such a conforting... yet hauting concept.
Play from 2:24 at 1.5 speed for the best Chopin experience...
One does not simply skip Beethoven
Le passage des triples croches a quelque chose de mythique. Une pluie sur des plaques tectoniques.
One of my greatest works...
Certainly.

If you want to hear this another level listen to the Sokolov version. Simply sublime.
This, the 2nd movement of 7th symphony, the fugue of the string quartet OP 131 and the 3rd movement of the 9th.
I’d also include in this list the second movement of Sonata No 7 and the Agnus Dei in the missa solemnis
