  • This was the craziest winter month yet at Cerro Gordo! There was so much snow, and so many things we got done from rebuilding cabins, refining silver, exploring the abandoned mines, and even living down there for a while.
I recorded the audiobook version of my book inside the 900 level of the mine this month. I would love it so, so much if you were able to support the book with a pre-order: www.amazon.com...
If you do pre-order before March 19th, email me at audiobook@cerrogordomines.com and I'll send you a special segment I recorded while in the mines!
If you're interested in a physical copy of the book, you can get those here:
    Amazon: www.amazon.com...
Barnes & Noble (Signed Copies!): bit.ly/3QrzoYb
    BooksAMillion: bit.ly/3tNaUks
    BookShop.Org: bit.ly/3rZb5bN
Available in all formats - hardcover, e-book and audio: www.penguinran...
If you do pre-order the book before March 19th, 2024 I have some special bonuses for you:
    - Buy 1 book and get unreleased pages from the book and an unreleased full video of some of the best mine exploration I've never shown.
    - Buy 5 books and I'll send you a signed page from the draft manuscript for you to have.
    - Buy 10 books and you'll get an invite to a VIP party / tour of Cerro Gordo, hosted by me at Cerro Gordo, in April of 2024.
    - Forward all receipts of the book to: book@cerrogordomines.com.
*Bonuses will be delivered sometime in March before book launch!*

I've just requested your book for a Christmas gift from my loving, generous daughter and explained the "extras" for pre-ordering. I'm confident you've already received her order. She knows I'm booking a room in the hotel as soon as I can arrange to get there. My birthday is in August, but I'm occupied until September. I whispered at Christmas I thought a family trip for vacation would be a special trip. She may have already contacted you, but I'm headed your way asap. 👍

Put them everywhere , U can bury them even and 12- 24Volt water pumps are not expensive take advantage of the melting snow. You will not regret doing it .

I live semi-off grid, and rainwater is our only water supply. Luckily when we bought our house it came with 1 huge tank and 3 average size tanks, so we have more than enough water for the 2 of us. But we're looking at installing an outdoor entertaining area and will definitely install another tank off that. Every single drop counts!! Tanks are an investment, but absolutely needed in a place like this where there is no laid-on water! I didn't realize that tanks and gutters were so unusual in america, to the point of it being illegal to collect rainwater in some places, thats just crazy!!!

Watching your body language and listening to your voice during this video is light years better than after some of the past weather events you have been thru. My family and I met you a year and a half ago when the mineral society came up to spend the day and you gave us a tour of town. We talked a little about how rugged and unforgiving the desert and eastern California mountains can be, but also how it just seems to reach out and grab onto your spirit with the beauty and love of this rugged land. You are becoming a different person right before our eyes in ways that you yourself probably never in your wildest dreams ever imagined. I only wish I had the ability to support you in person but being in the uk makes meeting you and touching the town in person some what a dream or bucket list for the future . Well done Brent I have never stopped watching and never believed you will fail a signal challenge the town throws at you. Good luck .

In Australia we have an Opal mining town called Coober Pedy some of the folk who live there have long lived and made their homes underground to escape the heat using old mines for their businesses, homes and even hotel conversions. What a special place you have and looking closer at the wild life is so unique in those areas too. And God bless all that snow!! god gave you some water, no fighting required.

A snow chute, like a crusher feed chute but for snow that melts and goes into the water tank. You can then use a flotation launder plug to blog off in the summer to save rats etc falling in. Trap door at the side to hose out the chute of dust or just have a dust cover in those months. I could even built one out of timber and line with linatex. Once the main tank is full you could have a directional hose going to other smaller tanks.

31:26 Well, Brent, for 10 years I lived in a “chalet” (snooty A-Frame). IMO, U really need LARGER GUTTERS. What happens is the snow melts in the gutters faster than can drain FULLY. As the day passes, snow melts slower & begins building up in the gutter as sun turns to shade, freezing begins. Then during the night, temp drops below freezing, the water freezes & makes solid block ice! The next day it takes up the space in the gutter meant for flowing water but is not able to melt bc it’s solid! That’s indicated by ice crystals that melt and freeze over the gutter and at seams. That’s my advice large, deep gutter AND OR HEATING STRIPS! Ya way! Good Luck. U are loved!❤

29:00 - Just a heads up from someone who comes from a land of ice and snow: On this kind of roof, having gutters can keep the snow from falling off the roof and lead to it curling under the roof causing damage. You may want to make sure there is a good gap between the metal roof and the gutter.

Took me to the now off-limits Soudan Mine in northern Minnesota when I was a little kid and was honestly one of the craziest things I've ever seen.
