Thank's Mr.MeMiner that was cool and even got Daisy Tail wagging!!!; )
Daisy was trying to get to to play with her. She had a stuffed toy. Funny dog.

You are becoming the silver mogul LOL. Merry Christmas and Havagudun next year.
"I wonder why her plants always die" oh man you're going to be in trouble when she sees this. :) Totally worth it though, those look really neat.
The time lapse was cool to watch. Nice looking results. I love the way you rerock your driveway. LOL
Merry Christmas MeMiner and family, enjoyed watching and learning about what you do with videos. I hope Santa was good to Daisy.
Thanks much Ronald. Daisy was well looked after yesterday and today. She loves turkey. ;-)
Feliz Natal meu querido! Lindo video e você mais lindo ainda. Beautful video my dear!

It's mesmerizing how the solution changes colors
Very cool video. You are so lucky to have areas to find silver ore like you do. Now if you had lots of silver dust like that, a devil forge may pay for itself in time, not to mention a few more cool videos. Keep the videos coming and Merry Christmas!
I'd like to get a forge. I have quite a bit of rock that I could process and silver bars are cool. Merry Christmas
Another kool video.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to you and your family.
Looking forward to the next adventure.
🙏👍❤️😁🍺
Thanks Dave. Editing an adventure right now. We always try to have fun. Happy New Year.
I love these videos, very cool results and I liked the green colour the acid turned.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thank you for all the videos you put out
You ever need a bucket carrier down here in the states let me know, I need the exercise lol
Makes me want to make a impromptu video of the rocks that I have etched.
One of the rocks has brass or low grade gold in it.
I hope you are having a great Christmas!
I'd love to see the gold one etched. Usually, gold is in quartz and HCL won't affect quartz. Brass is copper and zinc. Zinc is affected by HCL.
@@meMiner This rock material has limited calcite in it. The rest is a bluish quartz I believe.
I'll make a video in a day or two and post a link here.
All I have for a camera is my phone.
Hopefully it will work.
Your Driveway must be thick.....lol ! Great Video !!!
Someday when I don't feel like driving, I should do a "Metal detecting meMiner's gravel driveway" video. Before that, I need to metal detect my garden where my precious daughter put some of my best silver ore that was stored in the garage, but she felt was in the way of her motocross bike, snowmobile and ATV. ;-)
So your wife let you be a mad scientist for a day? 🤣 😁 Merry Christmas to you and your family and may your new year be filled with some fun adventures.
If it's not nailed down, I take it. Easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Merry Christmas
Man I love how they look hey. Thank you mate and merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family man!!!
Plop, plop. Fizz, fizz. Oh how beautiful silver is!
Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you, your family and all your subscribers! 🎄🍻
Very cool gonna have to get up there and find me some silver.
What would happen if you placed some of that in an electric melting furnace?
A friend did that for me during the summer from similar material with his forge. The heat burns off some of the contaminates and it makes a pretty bar.
If you binge watch your videos, you will expect to eventually see you hopping into your truck with a giant pile of waste rock in the front of your driveway lol
Always fun dissolving away the calcite to see what's inside! They look cool, can't wait to get back up there!
I am still getting comments wanting another melt. You are a star. I plan on going up early this year. My camper is in the arena inside storage and has to be out by the May long weekend. I'd like to go before that if the snow is gone. We should stay in touch.
@@meMiner I love doing the melts, but can't do anymore until the snow is gone too dangerous in the snow with steam explosions! I plan on maybe may long weekend if I can swindle it with work. I think I still have your cell number somewhere
@@chrisbrooks2062 I heard about a new spot where they have been moving rock. Will have to hit it before it gets overrun. Hope to see you up there.
Those are awesome. Love the color change in solution too. My youngest broke his arm jumping off the bed been a hectic weekend and week so far. Will get the packages out this week tho.
Awesome💪💪💪💪Merry Christmas to you and family as well meminer ty for all great vids ive watched this year
Merry Christmas meMiner! Awesome silver! Hey, you should add the #TheFinders hashtag to your videos! You're definitely one of the big dogs!
To show you how clueless I am, I have no idea what this would do. BTW Merry Christmas
@@meMiner It's a hashtag people with similar interests can type in to find new channels where people get outside and find things! Just add the #TheFinders in the description and keywords when you upload (or you can edit previous videos and add it) and it will show up as a hashtag just above the video title. Unfortunately you have to turn off your location to add it, but you can have up to 3 hashtags, so you can make one of them whatever your current location shows.
It was an idea that RookieRockhounding and Agate Dad came up with. I've found some great new little channels and made some new friends!
Merry Christmas!
Dude! That's some cool looking silver. You like! I like! I really like, the silver looks all feathery it's amazing how nature works, you can't see threw the rock how it's made, until you take the rock away. That's just crazy cool.
I'm amazed how thick the silver is in that rock. I hope you and your family has a blessed day.
Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
Too bad there isn't a way to shine something this delicate, while retaining the feather/crystal appearance. Merry Christmas
@@meMiner ya your right about that, boy that would be so beautiful if you could though.
Awesome Video.
Very cool. Merry Christmas and wishing you an amazing new year.
Very nice, although I did feel for the one piece that didn't like it's new image and jumped .
Seasons greetings for you and your three girls.
Very nice. It sure gives an artistic element when you melt away just so much. Interesting beautiful shapes.
Super cool.. love exposing treasures.. hope Santa was good to you and your girls peace !
In 50 years people will be going through your driveway tailing pile.
I dropped some gold nuggets there and used a metal detector. I found some silver I had dropped. Heck, I have some 20-30 lb silver ore rocks that my daughter put into the garden, as she thought they were in her way in the garage she works on her motorcycle, snowmobile and ATV. If something happens to me, those rocks will probably still be there 50 years from now.
Merry Christmas Greg, I hope Daisy got a treat for the holiday
@@saviotoronto358 Daisy found 3 turkey yesterday and thought that was wonderful. Maybe she should stick with frogs, as they cannot fly.
Actually the vase is a great idea. It's fun to be able to see the process, and the amazing colors produced! Merry Christmas, meMiner! 🎄
Thanks Gwynn. I will tell my wife if she has a complaint to send it your way. LOL Merry Christmas!
@@meMiner Uh, okay? You know, I'll bet that vase is as clean as it's ever been!
@@gwynnfarrell1856 It will be clean soon. Right now, it still has the fine silver drying out. ;-)
That's so cool meMiner. I kind of of get excited when you dissolve the rock away to see how much silver is actually in the rock
This one surprised me. I knew it had silver, but didn't think it would be that much. Thanks for the nice comment
Really cool clip. I, so want to visit you and find some ones like that and play a bit.😎✌️
@@meMiner I have a gold claim in Idaho so that gets me close. Maybe next summer Il can wonder your way and meet up.🤔
Merry Christmas from the Island
Merry Christmas Maureen. Your weather is better than ours. I am already getting cabin fever waiting for spring thaw
You are like a mad scientist! I am going to post this one on our school platform so last year's kids (and this year's) can see what you're up to lately. I'll have to tag on a "don't try this at home" warning though, haha.
Yeah. This process is not for kids. Let me know if you want to try an in class experiment and use white vinegar. It will take a long time for the vinegar to dissolve the calcite (and have to be refreshed a number of times), but the result will be the same.
You can always leave a little bit of calcite or more calcite than silver. Sometimes it can looks rally good.
Merry Christmas Tymon. I wish you the best rock collecting and tumbling in the new year.
Frohe Weihnachten und einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr....
Merry Christmas... 🎄🌲🍀
Wow that's a nice bit of silver in that rock. Nice find.
Did you guys have a good Christmas
@@AnnahSoul The big gift was a 12.9" iPad Pro. She was very happy with it. Her other iPad has seen better days, with an old battery funky speaker and a much smaller screen.
Try polishing with sugar water. Just guessing. Apparently sugar converts silver oxide into elemental silver. Im not sure if the black is silver oxide.
Was the green during dissolving copper? Nickeline? Oh. And very pretty silver specimens. 🦋
Likely it was from the nickel. There is some copper in the samples, but probably not enough to stain the solution.
Merry Christmas to you and yours....Very interesting video...just a thought as wondering if the glass gets warm in the process?
I didn't check. I guarantee it doesn't get warm at this time of year, but the chemical reaction should produce a little bit of heat.
How do you tell a silver nugget from a chunk of lead in a host rock? They both look similar to me. Do you go by the detector or is there another simple way to tell in the field? All good videos too. Thx for explaining rockhounding to us newbies.
The detector tells me quite a bit. More important is there is no veins of lead in the area. If it was a spot with galena, then I would have to be more careful calling something silver.
Would like to see you melt it down to a silver bar. Merry Christmas
There is a video on my channel from this summer where a bar was melted by a buddy. I'd like to get the equipment to do it myself.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year...! So, is that Silver after acid wash considered raw/crude/or Ore...? =)
Merry Christmas. I am not sure what to call the silver. Basically, it is natural silver vein/ore.
Looks really cool! Can you encase the bigger pieces of silver in clear epoxy to make it more stable? Maybe put it in a vacuum to get it more clear? Enjoy your videos, Merry Christmas and a great New Year!
After you got the calcite off the Silver I would have liked to have seen you roast it and smelt the silver
Hi thank you for the video! Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and your family God Bless. Now you got a good reason to buy your wife flowers for a nice chemical free vace
My wife is Dutch. She loves flowers. I will have to carefully clean the vase. Thank goodness she has other ones too. Merry Christmas
Ok so I hate ASMR but I feel like this is the closest thing I’ll ever get to that haha. I love geology but work a lot so I appreciate watching all your interesting content!
Well, thanks for dropping by. I have fun with these projects and appreciate the kind words
Muria is brutal but effective. We don't have much of it around now, since we terminated the hot pool. What is the general assay purity of the native silver there in percent?
This looks fairly pure, but I would have to test it to be sure. There are some minerals typically present that the muriatic won't affect.
Greg,
1st let me say, Merry Christmas to you and yours! And of course a prosperous New Year!
Now this was a cool video, I love the way the silver turns out in the acid.
What would it take for you to send me a chunk of raw silver ore? About the same size you started with. Just so there is no doubt, I will pay the bill! And if you cannot do it I understand complete.
Thank you Greg I appreciate videos.
Merry Christmas.
Most of my silver is under snow now. We had a thaw a few days ago, so I was able to rescue the one in the video.
I have picked up some tips from you, so will leave you one!....if you have some delicate wires or pure silver specimens that are brown from Cobalt dirt, don't put them in a tumbler...boil water with a piece of aluminum foil, after adding the specimen, pour in some baking soda...it will clear off loose soil, clear tarnish and give you a sweet item as nature designed it! ..I expect a video showing this! Lol
I tried that method a number of years ago and found that tarn-x worked as well. I have not been very successful finding wire silver of any size. Maybe next year
@@meMiner I have a nice wire specimen from Silver Center but youtube doesn't seem to allow sharing photos
@@davidspicer9949 I understand some wonderful specimens came from there. I had trouble finding any silver there other than a few small nuggets.
Silver IT is🤗
Will I be able to find a silver rock with a metal detector at any random rock sight?. I live In California
How long did that process take? I've got a few chunks of silver as well, but I'm not sure if I'm leaving the solution long enough or not (I tend to do it in the field vs home - too many kids and animals running about)
Usually, I am done in a day or leave them in weak acid overnight. This project took me 3 days because it was so cold and the days were short. Good for you keeping it way from kids and pets. It would be awful if there were a spill
Is there a safe way to polish the silver after the acid reduction and still keep the structure intact?
Is there a way of polishing the silver after it has been through an acid bath, to make it shiny silver in colour?
It is easier to mechanically polish it while still in the rock and then etch, so all of the exposed silver is shiny. Now, it would too fragile and I would end up knocking off all the little pieces that stick out. There are some other methods and solutions that I have tried with limited effect.
Can you do this with flour gold to extract it from sand?
It will burn up the iron in the sands but not the quartz. I have used it to clean my placer gold. Probably not economical, but it does a nice job to clean iron stain off the gold
Once had a boss that wanted to etch stainless steel parts in a big galvanized bucket . I told him that really , really is not a good idea. Well after he emptied the building from smoke . There wasn't much left of the bucket. Season Greeting !!!
Same thing happened on Breaking Bad. Plastic or glass are find. Metal, not so much. ;-)
Merry Christmas from Peterborough 😊
-how long did you leave it in the acid?
This was a 3 day project, mostly because of limited daylight (for video) and it is cold outside (acid is slower).
