Great footage again Phil. For me the black 5s are the perfect default steam loco, go anywhere do anything, and you've really captured the spirit of the machine. Great stuff.👍👍
@@philclarke3203 I suppose so, yes. I've never seen it happen in a live situation, half way along a platform, outside the realms of a preserved railway with a proper water tower etc.
That takes me back to 1963 . My first firing turn on a Class 5 on ECs from Euston - Willesden Carriage Sdgs. Weaned on steam which is still in my blood.
Happy New Year Ian.😀. That's funny I was only thinking yesterday, that I hadn't heard from you for a while. Good to hear from you again and all is ok. 👍😀
Thanks Paul, my pleasure. I think I missed the worst of the storm, but there were plenty of delays and cancellations at Crewe. Happy New Year to you too.😀👍
Nice video Phil very good camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on UA-cam bye for now Philip
The engine is a he. On a few of my old videos, there is a shot of a GWR steam engine running light engine on the main line without a support coach. To see the Black 5 do the same thing all these years later isn't uncommon. True, it doesn't occur as much, but seeing Mr. Jack of all Trades without coaches must have put a big smile on your face.
It makes a refreshing change...If 45110 makes it back to the mainline, after major overhaul, then its first trip should be to Holyhead (6J territory) where it spent almost all its life... 🙂
excellent shots 👍brings back memories of the old days of Steam
Thanks Barry. Great memories 😀👍
Had the pleasure of firing and being on the footplate of this loco for Santa specials and she is a superb loco.
Great filming!
Thanks. That must have been a pleasure 😀
@@philclarke3203It certainly was!
It wasn't hard for me to imagine I was back in the early 1960's. Thank you for posting.
My pleasure. Perhaps I should have done it in black and white?

Many thanks Laurie 👍
What a lovely catch. It had a look of the old days there, Phil.
Thanks, certainly did.😀
Great footage.
I love the way they filled it with water !
Thanks. The modern way?

This engine is so beautiful thanks for sharing💖

Great memory, that can't be taken away. How things have changed?
Happy New Year to you and the family.
Sorry not been in touch. All good here in Wales. 👍😎😁

Thanks David 👍

What a nice catch Phil, it was dark and wet by the time it reached me at Bentham 👍 ps all the best for the new year, stephen .
Thanks Stephen. Days are getting longer again now 😀. Wishing you all the best too 👍
45212 was on the KWVR Mince Pie Specials 3 days later.
Yes. no rest for the wicked?
Great! How do you get notified of the steam trains, id love to take my son there to see a steam train up close, thanks
Thanks. This is a good site to find them.

Great to see a proper light engine for a change. Years since I saw that in real.
It certainly was great to see.
Nice one Phil. Who needs carriages, anyway!!
Thanks Alan. Haha, certainly doesn't look right with just one?
Pretty sure we saw this on Thursday coming through Oakham level crossing.
It passed there at 11.35.
Great video! But there are still two more mainline steam moves on the 31st!
Thanks. Which are they? Excluding heritage lines and NYMR to Whitby of course?

That's debatable lol. To be truthful she/ he is an it.
Certainly looks better than having just one coach.
We all know that modern motive power is superior operationally
But just L O O K at it! 🤗
Absolutely!! 👍

2:07 this engine is named Henry
Look the locos running with nothing behind it
it's called 'running light'
How it used to be!
@@rivergladesgardenrailroad8834 it is 👍
@@philclarke3203 running light engine I see
Some of those rails seem a bit rough. Maybe it's due to the long lens.
Haha. Yes , the long zoom lens often has that affect
Nearest thing I have seen to pre '68 steam
We need to see more like that
Was it in time 😅😅
Yes plenty 😂
Excuse the ignorance, but why not go straight up the ECML
? Surely Crewe is well out of the way?
Not exactly sure, but available paths? Water stops?
Those guys need a real lesson on how to run out that red fire hose. Total fail.
Haha, I didn't video the worst tangle they got it in. 🤣
