    My first electric chain saw was the Atlas 10" nine foot pole saw and I was amazed it cut down a 30 foot flowering cherry tree in no time. I will buy this chain saw. I live in a subdivision and one of the main advantages of electric is that you can use it any time of the day because it's so quiet and you never bother anyone.

    60 year old lifelong carpenter here who has never used/needed a chainsaw, but now that I have the firepit bug I stop whenever someone piles up logs on the side of the road to take. Thanks for the lesson Paul - much appreciation!!

    I have the same chainsaw and I used it yesterday, I do a lot of back country four-wheel driving sometimes towing a modified off-road teardrop trailer and here in Northern California with all the fires we get lots of snags/fallen timber I must’ve cut yesterday over 25 trees that were anywhere from 10 inches in diameter up to almost 2 feet in diameter and one battery lasted almost 2 hours, the trees were standing for almost 2 years then fell so they were pretty dehydrated and dried out, I would Cut the small branches off so I can access the tree trunk then I would make three or four cuts so I could move the pieces I cut and I was quite impressed with the saw, my chainsaw did not overheat at all it just kept cutting, I’m actually going to purchase two more batteries just to have them on hand, charging the battery I purchased the 40 V/80 V batteries and when they’re completely dead took about an hour and 20 minutes to charge, I definitely recommend the chainsaw, I’m not sure how long it will last? But it’s nice to be able to put this in my vehicle and not smell gasoline fumes that’s the main reason I got it I purchased a waterproof duffel bag to put it in so the oil doesn’t get on my interior anyway thanks for the video I just wanted to share this with you and other folks I put the thing to the test and it worked👍👍

      Nice to get some feedback, I really like the battery saws they are definitely making a place in the market that makes a lot of sense for a lot of people.

    Good video. I have the 40V pole saw and 80V chainsaw. Since HF does not sells chains. I have Stihl chains on them both (They Yellow.. not Green). They both perform better that the inbox chain. You don't need any pressure when your cutting. Adding pressure just overheats the chainsaw faster and heat build up in the battery. So your want to pace yourself.. or like me have a few batteries in rotation. If I had five or six batteries, I could possibly have two fast charging.. while I am using three. Then rotate them out for all day work. It is also safe and quiet to use at night.. won't disturb my neighbors.

    The convenience factor of the electric saws is handy as heck. I recently purchased a 20v dewalt saw and the thing is super handy! Especially for clearing trail debris and cutting limbs. Light, easy and tons of power.

    Thanks for this informative video; for me the Atlas has been a great tool for yard trimming and other short time span uses, and has the power to tackle 14 in tree limbs. Very handy and convenient to have available without needing to mix gas and oil for a little job.

    Have the saw, just cut down some 12 inch birch in my backyard. Great tool. Much quieter than gas saw. Saw definitely shuts down with excessive use. Not a big deal if you're doing minor work. Great vid.

    I have 10 acres of heavily wooded Northern Michigan forest. I burn wood for about half of the long Upper Peninsula winters. My main saw is the Husqvarna 455. In the Fall of 2021, I bought two Atlas 40 volt saws, the long tree branch saw and the 16” long chain saw. They are a great addition to my wood gathering. The branch extension great for getting branches that are in the way or for taking weight off of trees with excessive growth on one side. I dropped a large oak with my Husqvarna. I used the 16” Atlas to cut off all the branches that would normally be “in the way” while starting to process the tree. I like the Atlas saws, but I would like to compare them to the Hart saws from Walmart. But having the battery saw is really good for the reasons you described. It goes quiet when done cutting and does not require the pull start with the gas powered saw for doing cuts here and there. One great use was when I got my Husqvarna pinched in a log, and having the second saw was really handy to get the situation remedied with some cuts.

      The battery saws are very handy I use mine a lot especially the jobs that aren’t the all day cutting jobs, and carrying on the trail to clear downed trees or limbs is great too.

    Hey Paul really good tips for when to use the battery powered saw. I could see how it would be useful for sure when running into the random piece while running the splitter. Hope you have a great new year take care brother.

    I love the Atlas 16in, plenty of power, can take on the bigger cuts, but most of all nimble for de-limbing and doesnt tire you out.

    Battery chainsaws have their place. However in my nech of the woods end of october through january temperature run 26 Deg F - 45 Deg F battery run time seems to be short in colder weather vs say 70 deg F.

    • @WilliamsonRidge
      @WilliamsonRidge  3 роки тому

      I have the Atlas with 16" bar and bought it on 10/12/2020 and swore I bought the extended warranty on batteries, receipt does not show it. Any way now after full charge it might run 5 minutes after charge... Buy gas saw, forget the Atlas.

      Keep lithium batteries inside. When you take them out in the cold. Run the saw outta wood for a couple of seconds 2 or 3 times. This warms up the battery and we'll help with the life

    Anyone find a case/box this saw fits in? The Husqvarna case that I have for my Husqvarna 435 saw is not long enough, the back end of the handle on the Atlas is a good 1 3/4 inches longer.

    My aunt and uncle just bought me a Husqvarna 120 36.5 V chainsaw for Christmas. I believe it has a 14'' bar and chain. I'm interested to see if its comparable with my Husqvarna 340, as far as chain pitch and bar gauge. My older 340 has a 16'' bar/ .043 gauge bar, if I'm correct and .325 pitch chain. I'm thinking the new 120 runs on a micro 3/8 pitch chain. I don't need compatible bars and chains on the battery powered 120 but the nice feature is the two batteries will run on my handheld Husqvarna battery powered leaf blower! Between the 3 batteries and two chargers I'm able the clean up a lot of small debris and down blow that's sometimes overkill with even the smallest of gas powered saws.

    • @WilliamsonRidge
      @WilliamsonRidge  3 роки тому

      Yeah that sounds like a nice saw, having the extra batteries so you can cut and charge at the same time will really help keep the wood chips flying.

    So, first time using mine today for one small tree and the chain is constantly loosening... not my first chainsaw, never had this problem... is their some trick to this saw???

    • @WilliamsonRidge
      @WilliamsonRidge  3 роки тому

      Haven’t had any problems with mine doing that. May be something wrong with it. When you adjust tension your supposed to pull up on the bar when tightening bar clamp, may try that just to see.

    How does this compare to the Lynxx? I have one with 2 batteries for limbing n small stuff but couldn't turn down a atlas 40v for 60 n the 80v battery for 52

      @WilliamsonRidge  2 роки тому

      I haven’t tried the Lynxx but I know they were an upgrade to the portland but don’t know if they are up with the atlas.

      @@WilliamsonRidge got to run the atlas today. More power than Lynxx.
      Chain was very dull though and i was really able to put pressure on it without it shutting down.
      Expect it to cut very well with a sharp chain

    will or could a 10' inch bar fit on this from another brand, like to buy it and put a 10 inch on. thanks

    • @WilliamsonRidge
      @WilliamsonRidge  3 роки тому

      I don’t see why you couldn’t put a 10” on if you can find the correct pitch and width, Oregon probably makes one. It is a 3/8 LP .043 chain. Or check with harbor freight as they have the Bauer brand chainsaw that comes with a 10”

    • @robertm7717
      @robertm7717 3 роки тому +1

      I was thinking HF might sell the 10” bar and chain for the Bauer that might be the same pitch and width since it’s their product, I’ll check and see if I can find one though
