I think the comment about the Abyss Sibling's homeland is related to later lore that the sibling seems to be from this world (Tevyat) whereas the traveler is not (or at least Irminsul is recognizing the sibling as being from Tevyat). It is possible that they are Khaenri'an or are representing themselves as Khaenri'an since it seems like the Cataclysm is what has led the sibling to join with the Abyss Order.
