I really like Big boo haunt because of the possibility to jump around using wall jumps. Just see how funny is feaguring out how to get on the second floor without using the stairs
Wet Dry World was honestly an amazing stage in my opinion-my #1 favorite. I remember spending hours as a kid just exploring that underwater abandoned town and trying to come up with stories about it. My other favorites are probably Tiny Huge Island and Whomp's Fortress, as well as Hazy Maze Cave. Dire, Dire Docks was probably the only stage that I didn't like very much- i still thought the submarine was cool though.
Do you suffer from a brain tumour? What kind of fucking opinion is that? Clearly 64 has much better levels then WET DRY WORLD. Seriously reconsider your favourite 64 world
I feel WDW is definitely misunderstood. But I can understand why it might be frustrating to navigate for a first-play-through. DDD is definitely a worse course.
@Manek Iridius True, but Rainbow Ride is the worst. It even taunts you with the most annoying music and 98% of the time you either wait or fall to your death.
1. Tiny Huge Island: as a fan of Dinosaurs and things giant, I approve. Just have fun! 2. Big Boo's Haunt: quite a few unique paths and things in this "secret" level 3. Hazy Maze Cave: similarly, you unlock the metal cap, meet Nessie and just take many paths. 4. Bob-omb Battlefield: Just a fun and easy stage where you don't get punished for exploring 5. Jolly Roger Bay: the iconic eel and sunken ship, treasure, and soothing music 6. Snowman's Land: Another toolbox area to just have fun with invisible walls and ice bullies. Not as punishing as Cool Cool Mountain. 7. Wet-Dry World: very fun and creative puzzle/toolbox land 8. Shifting Sand Land: a very complex stage with puzzles and even entering a pyramid! Sadly, that quicksand is EVERYWHERE and instantly kills you! 9. Lethal Lava Land: entering a volcano and tons of bullies! But...fucking lava is a pain, and it's just smaller and slightly less impressive than Sand Land. 10. Cool Cool Mountain: fun, but even easier to instantly die from fucking penguins or the damn wind. 11. Tall, Tall Mountain: not as many instant deaths, but it's just a tall and boring mountain 12. Dire, Dire Docks: a really small and forgettable stage. Bowser's sub is cool though 13. Whomp's Fortress: good variety, but did everyone forget that any mistake in the whole level basically forces you to redo the whole stage?? Frustrating! 14. Tick Tock Clock: Boring and frustrating! 15. Rainbow Ride: ANNOYING. BEYOND. BELIEF. Worst stage ever. Nightmarishly atrocious.
I actually really like Wet Dry World, it's more of a puzzle course and I like that. Rainbow Ride is easily the worst to me, it's so boring and slow. Oh and Dire Dire Docks kinda sucks too.
SMR Super Mario Rhys It’s my favorite too, although I admit it wouldn’t be if I actually used the water switches and didn’t just use highest or lowest levels every time
Hazy Maze Cave is my favorite stage, specially because it got my favorite cap power-up, Metal Mario (it felt so good just running over things in that form) and because it is the only Mario stage where you can RIDE A LAPRAS xD It also was so big and felt like an actual maze, I got lost so many times in this stage.
I actually like that stage. It's interesting seeing them take the underground theme Mario games were known for at the time and made it an abandoned mine with Indiana Jones styled traps. They even have the rolling boulders.
It was a much better time... people actually had jobs , social media didn’t dominate our lives and people didn’t pretend their lives were just perfect when behinds the scene it was actually hell usually (though granted this very comment and video is use of social media, it wasn’t near as scary to walk outside and meet people like it is today, and the news while notoriously bad back then, it’s even worse now with all the political division and bullshit. When I was a kid our only division was whether you liked Pokémon or Digimon (and of course because I lived in Alabama, whether you were Alabama or Auburn , they drilled that shit early on) now we are divided on literally everything, everyone seems to hate each other and the world is literally getting worse slowly but surely.
It took me years to find the Snowman’s Land course in castle. This was before UA-cam existed and I couldn’t find any game manuals to this game at the time.
Doom fry it’s in a room with a mirror and the level is the only thing in the reflection that isn’t reflected in the actual area so you gotta jump where it would be in the actual area. It’s not too hard if you talk to toad outside but if you didn’t it’s hard to notice
A good way to rank every level in SM64, if I may suggest to all of you, is using as term of comparison the difficulty in catching every single COIN inside of it. For example Tiny-Huge Island and Lethal lava land are extremely difficult. Tiny-Huge Island with the record of 191 coins (I am not considering the impossible coin since it requires the use of a bug inside the game) and Lethal lava land with 133 coins in total are EXTREMELY difficult because they have no space for mistakes. In lethal lava land above all you have to be careful to not miss a coin coming from a bomb that need to be pushed in the lava from a very significant height at the top inside the vulcano, and that passage has to be done after you have collected all the previous coin outside the vulcano. Even Hazy Maze cave with 139 coins is quite a challenge. Especially because of a coin from a bat basically next to the big hole where the rocks fall. The other levels have no particular difficulties if studied well chosing with path to follow in order to not miss any coin. Trust me, try to experience SM64 in this way and you all can appreciate the depth inside every level.
Wet Dry World is the most nostalgic for me because when my cousin and I were younger, he had a used copy and it was mind-blowing to see how wet dry World worked. But my favorite course is probably Tiny Huge Island
Yeah, it's a solid stage. Just industrial and ugly. Navigating takes forever so it's slow to iterate on puzzle solving. You can basically avoid those little tosser robots too, so as long as you aren't trying to scale upwards while it's dry it's not that terrible of a level.
It took me 20 years to find out the blue coin thing. I watched a speed run and was like wtf that made it a million times easier. I was just regular jumping on the goombas and collecting my yellow coins
@@willycheez7218 The only thing cool about tiktok clock is the speed of the map depending on when you jump in the clock. Idk why but tiny huge island always annoyed me too
The 2nd floor sucks. 3rd floor is alright. basement is good. 1st floor is my favorite! Edit: bc there are only 2 levels on the 3rd floor, the final level and the secret level are taking into account for that floor. 2 is not enough when one sucks and one is very good. My favorite course is probably tic-toc clock. My least favorite is Rainbow ride. Also please note that I’ve only played the DS ver, and tic toc clock is good that version
I have to admit I'm happy that Bob-Omb battlefield isn't first because it's the starter and nostalgic. There are so many better stages that it'd be silly to pick that one because of nostalgia, I swear.. Good list!
15: Jolly Roger Bay (Water levels suck and this is the worst one) 14: Dire Dire Docks (A little more interesting but still not great) 13: Rainbow Ride (A frustratingly difficult but also boring final level) 12: Snowman’s Land (A generic rip off of Cool Cool Mountain) 11: Wet Dry World (I actually really like this stage a lot more than you) 10: Tall Tall Mountain (I should love it and I like it but I don’t quite love it) 9: Tiny Huge Island (A very creative concept for a cool level) 8: Bob-Omb Battlefeild (Iconic and strangely lovable, Mario fan’s dream) 7: Shifting Sand Land (An actually really enjoyable desert theme) 6: Leathal Lava Land (What an awesome final stage!) 5: Whomp’s Fortress (A lot of precise platforming and dangerous enemies) 4: Tick Tock Clock (A stage based off of a clock? Now that’s amazing!) 3: Hazy Maze Cave (This one can get you lost in its wonderful world) 2: Big Boo’s Haunt (Wha the heck? This is actually sorta creepy) 1: Cool Cool Mountain (Sliding down the ice slide is always super fun!)
Everyone should write a list like this 15. Tiny Huge Island 14. Shifting Sand Land 13. Rainbow Ride 12. Dire Dire Docks 11. Jolly Roger Bay 10. Wet Dry World 9. Hazy Maze Cave 8. Snowman's Land 7. Bob-omb Battlefield 6. Cool Cool Mountain 5. Lethal Lava Land 4. Big Boo's Haunt 3. Tick Tock Clock 2. Whomp's Fortress 1. Tall Tall Mountain
my personal list of course 15. Dire Dire Docks 14. Snowman's Land 13. Rainbow Ride 12. Jolly Roger Bay 11. Tall Tall Mountain 10. Shifting Sand Land 9. Tiny Huge Island 8. Leathal Lava Land 7. Bob-omb Battlefield 6. Hazy Maze Cave 5. Big Boos Haunt 4. Cool Cool Mountain 3. Tick Tock Clock 2. Whomps Fortress 1. Wet Dry World idk why but it seems like the case with everyone and WDW is that you hate it or you love it, personally I think it is one of the best levels and probably hands down the best water level in any Mario game. Whomps could very easily be tied with WDW but for the sake of the list I think I like the latter just a tad bit more
GamingDump Jolly Roger Bay has the same soundtrack and is a really good stage unlike Dire Dire Docks which is definitely the worst out of the 15 stages
Lol, Wet Dry World and and Hazy Maze Cave are both in my Top 3 stages in the game (along with Tick Tock Clock), while I really don't like Tiny Huge Island. At least we can agree that Rainbow Ride and its carpets suck.
*[SPOILER ALERT]* That’s true, but in that level there’s a secret area which leads to a red pipe (there are only 2 in the game). These pipes take to the next world. I was so satisfied when I discovered them! At 2:50 he says “trying to discover new areas”
My list, #1 - Wet Dry World #2 - Lethal Lava Land #3 - Big Boo's Haunt #4 - Bob-Omb Battlefield #5 - Whomp's Fortress #6 - Dire Dire Docks #7 - Snowman's Land #8 - Tick Tock Clock #9 - Tall, Tall Mountain #10 - Tiny, Huge Island #11 - Cool Cool Mountain #12 - Jolly Roger Bay #13 - Shifting Sand Land #14 - Hazy Maze Cave (would be higher if not for the 100 star coin in this one) #15 - Rainbow Ride
@IIvgmII yes but it wouldnt be that bad. It would sell like crazy. Also the nintendo ds super mario 64 was a success tbh i prefer it over the original with the 3 playable characters and extra stars. Id be fine if they just port it instead of remastering it. But a remaster would be a treat.
Thanks for the video, always nice to see someone's opinion on the stages. I liked it. Here's the list in my order of preference. #1 being my favourite. 1. Jolly Roger Bay 2. Tick Tock Clock 3. Big Boo's Haunt 4. Hazy Maze Cave 5. Rainbow Ride 6. Dire Dire Docks 7. Whomp's Fortress 8. Cool Cool Mountain 9. Bob-omb Battlefield 10. Snowman's Land 11. Tiny Huge Island 12. Lethal Lava Land 13. Shifting Sand Land 14. Wet Dry World 15. Tall Tall Mountain
I love Wet Dry World 'cause is memorable for a bunch of reasons: unique, clever or at least creative, puzzle at times n' good mechanics of lowering the water!!!
Right!! It is my favorite and number one. It’s the level where I played the fourth game ever in my life (the other 3 preceding it were Super Mario World, Mega Man X , and Super Punchout) and the level that basically led my mother to buying me and my brother an N64.
George LaBare well obviously it intends to be scary that’s like saying Lethal Lava Land has the most Lava out of any course or Tall Tall Mountain is the tallest stage
9:00. I've actually gotten all the stars in tick tock clock with the time completely frozen. It's possible - it's just that there is a lot of wall jumping and taking risks involved.
it feels like nearer the end on the game, as soon as you go upstairs in peaches castle, the levels just get worse. they feel like an afterthought and that no effort has been put into them. it's a shame because the levels nearer the start of the game are amazingly detailed and iconic.
Almost accurate list. If I would make my own list, it would be something like this: 1. Bob-omb Battlefield (probably just nostalgia but I don't care) 2. Lethal Lava Land 3. Whomp's Fortress 4. Cool, Cool Mountain 5. Shifting Sand Land 6. Tiny-Huge Island 7. Jolly Roger Bay 8. Hazy Maze Cave 9. Tick Tock Clock (they messed this up in N64 version, thankfully this was really not that bad in DS but it is the perfect "hard" course) 10. Tall, Tall Mountain This was entirely based on how I liked a course during my first playthrough on DS version since that was my first game.
I know people will hate me for saying this, but I hate Tiny-Huge Island. For me, especially on the small island, it is just unplayable. In my opinion, the concept is great, but the execution is horrible. Maybe if it was just a little bit more playable, I would've liked it better. The only playable part of the stage is the huge island and the Wiggler fight. Otherwise, this stage is just a mess.
15: Snowman’s Land 14: Rainbow Ride 13: Little Big World 12: Wet Dry World 11: Shifting Sand Land 10: Cool Cool Mountain 9: Tall Tall Mountain 8: Haxy Maze Cave 7: Dire Dire Docks 6: Bob-Omb Battlefield 5: Lethal Lava Land 4: Whomps Fortress 3: Jolly Roger Bay 2: Tick Tock Clock 1: Big Boo’s Haunt
@@mellomoose_ he says he's only been able to get 120 stars once... Mario 64 is a fairly easy game. I wasn't trying to be mean, but it's irritating to see an amateur gamer criticize a fantastic level simply because they didn't put in the time or hours to get good at the game like the rest of us did. rainbow ride is such a good level... IF you can jump around freely, wall jumping off the sides of platforms etc. but yes, if you just sit around on the carpets because you are a beginner, I bet it's very boring.
THE BEST: 1) Level 8 Desert (it's huge, and so is the pyramid) 2) Level 14 Clock (yes it's hard, but wall jumping around is super fun) 3). Level 15 Rainbow (there are so many ways to get around by long jumping/wall jumping. tons of fun) 4). Level 7 Fire (racing around on a shell = incredibly fun) GOOD: 5). Level 13. Big small. (very fun, although the level's invisible walls are stupidly close in when you are big Mario) 6) Level 4 Snow (it's fun just diving off the mountain when you start) 7). Level 2 Castle (many paths to ascend, and the owl is fun) OKAY: 8). Level 5 Ghosthouse (good atmosphere, and it stands out in the game) 9). Level 1 Bobomb (our first experience. climbing the mountain is tedious though) 10). Level 12. Mountain. (same problem as Level 1 only the mountain is even more tedious to climb again and again) 11) Level 10 Ice Level 2 (climbing the snowman is fun, nothing else is. well except getting the perfect canon angle to beat the ice maze instantly lol) HORRIBLE: 12). Level 11 Wet Dry (looks like Mario is in a boring office with gray cubicles) 13). Level 3 Water (gets tedious swimming through basically empty space, over and over and over) 14). Level 6 Cave (the moving platform with the arrows and falling off... slow and boring level) 15) Level 9 Water Level 2 (having to swim through 60 seconds of total emptiness over and over over = just plain bad design)
Here to hide from Big Boo's Haunt, and to provide my own rankings! Honestly, all these stages are memorable to me in different ways, and I could understand any of them being someone's favorite. 15. Dire, Dire Docks - I don't hate Mario water levels. In fact, I quite enjoy the slower and more relaxing playstyle of them. And I don't hate Dire, Dire Docks either, but something had to get last, unfortunately. I like the concept, and the first part feels alive with the different aquatic creatures around the area. The music, shared with Jolly Roger Bay, may very well be my favorite in the game. It's so calming in a unique, "Mario 64-esque" way. I don't like the Red Coins all that much, though, but everything else is fine. I just prefer the other levels. 14. Rainbow Ride - The Bandy's Big House star is quite boring half the time, and getting burned by the furnace is the worst feeling, but otherwise I quite enjoy the different platforming aspects and the rainbow theme. And then there's the Slider theme, which always adds that action-based flare to a level. Haven't attempted the 100 Coins yet, but I don't think it'll make me hate it so much that Rainbow Ride drops below Dire, Dire Docks. I do agree with the "Nintendo could've done more with this stage" argument, but that doesn't make me dislike this stage. 13. Tick Tock Clock - I'm going to confess that this stage is low simply because I haven't played it too much, and I haven't attempted 100 Coins. The raw platforming and time mechanics are really cool, but that doesn't make it any less rage-inducing. As I play it more, I expect to come to appreciate it more and it could very well move up some spots, but it's against some stiff competition. 12. Tiny-Huge Island - I always rage while playing this stage for some reason. Probably because the stars take so long to collect that messing up is really annoying. I do love the concept and design of this stage, and as I get better at this game, I'll start liking the stage more. It has a lot of unique stars, and the whole tiny-huge aspect is cool. Maybe it will move up some spots soon. 11. Snowman's Land - Now we leave levels that I like but anger me a lot to levels I like more. Snowman's Land is just fun for some reason. It's not too big, it's not too challenging, and it's not too creative, but it's fun. There's an igloo with a maze inside to explore, you get to climb up a massive snowman, face the Chill Bully, and zoom around on a Koopa Shell. See? Fun! Music is good too. Comment was too long, top 10 are below!
Previous comment was too long... Here's the top 10! 10. Tall Tall Mountain - Yes, this mountain is tall. Admittedly, the 3 stars atop the mountain that are quite similar are kinda weird, but this'll make you appreciate the mountain-climbing aspect more. You'll be doing long jumps, dodging iron balls, bouncing on Goombas and Monty Moles, and more to get to the top. The secret slide is quite fun, as is the fact that there are multiple ways to climb the mountain. First, you'll be careful. Then, you'll learn the layout and start climbing it faster. Maybe you'll find shortcuts to help as well. Then you'll slow down again to collect 100 Coins. The lonely mushroom star is creative as well, as there are multiple ways to reach it. 9. Whomp's Fortress - What? Whomp's Fortress this low? How could you? No, I like this stage! I simply like some others more. A floating fortress in the sky guarded by the Whomp King is a cool concept, and that great soundtrack often called the "main theme" really sets the mood. There's various platforms to explore, a tower to climb, Red Coins to find, Whomps and Thwomps to avoid, it's pure fun. There's a reason they brought it back in Galaxy 2, and I hope to see more Mario 64 levels return for future Mario games! I'd love to see a challenging King Bob-omb battle! 8. Wet-Dry World - It's hard for me to choose whether I like Wet-Dry World or Jolly Roger Bay more at this point. I never felt the "negative emotional aura" that people talk about. This stage is puzzling, not quite Zelda difficulty, but it's a fun concept. The town area just makes the stage better. Climbing to the top of the main area is fun to do, as is looking around for the secrets. I like Mario water levels, and this one does it for me. It gives that mysterious feel with the music, also shared with Hazy Maze Cave. 7. Jolly Roger Bay - My favorite water stage in the game (right now), Jolly Roger Bay isn't quite jolly itself, but it's certainly fun to play. The atmosphere looks scary, but the music calms the feeling and makes it feel more mysterious and relaxing. You'll be exploring a hidden cave, searching a sunken ship for treasure, blasting through the sky, and "playing" with eels. The 100-Coin star is fun to get too, as you basically explore the entire stage to find them, which takes a while, but isn't tedious or anything. 6. Cool Cool Mountain - This mountain is COOL. Slipping and sliding your way down is fun, as is sliding down the slide. Later, you'll race a Penguin down the slide, which is easy to mess up if you're not careful. The Red Coins make you explore all over, and the Wall Kicks Will Work star is well-hidden. If you don't know how to wall jump well at this point, this star will certainly teach you! You'll meet many friendly faces around the course, such as a mama Penguin who's lost her baby, Tuxie, the baby who got lost, another lost baby, a world champion sledder Penguin to race, a Bob-omb Buddy, a snowman head who wants a body, and a snowman body looking for a head. It's an adventure! The music is a snowy remix of Bob-omb Battlefield's theme, and that's cool cool. 5. Big Boo's Haunt - No more hiding from this stage, let's talk about it! The music is very creepy, the textures are creepy, things like a piano and books come alive, it's got the perfect atmosphere for a creepy ghost level! You'll be hunting down Boos, eventually fighting their leader, the one haunting the place. But Big Boo isn't done with you. The basement has a merry-go-round platform playing strange music, and Big Boo is waiting there with his minions! But then Big Boo hides up on the mansion's balcony, forcing you to find a way up there, and then settle things once and for all. You'll also find a library with a secret, Red Coins scattered about, and a secret room with a giant eyeball! This stage went wacky with the creepy elements, which is what helps make it so fun! 4. Lethal Lava Land - Triple L doesn't lie, that lava is lethal! The main area has lots of creative platforms, from ones that rise and sink in the lava, to ones that move past fire, to ones you fight Bullies on, to a drawbridge, to sloped ones you ride on with a Shell, to shuffling puzzle pieces, to a spinning one, to a rolling log, to ones that tilt! Goodness, that's a lot of platforms! You'll be fighting Bullies, both the smaller kind and the Big Bullies, which you have to knock into the lava. You can fly around the stage with the Wing Cap, or slide across the lava with a Koopa Shell! Then you can hop into the volcano and find more stage below! The music really ties things together, providing a menacing, "hot-sounding" track as you play the stage. 3. Hazy Maze Cave - This stage is a fun cave maze to explore, full of many secrets to discover. While the boulders are quite infuriating, everything else is super cool. Each of the rooms is unique. The starting area has death pits and two paths to take. The elevator room has a branching path leading to an elevator, and its main area has other types of elevator platforms used to get the Red Coins. The Hazy Maze room is a maze with toxic gas that drains your health! The black hole area has a round bottomless pit in the center with platforms on the sides, and a path that leads off to another section, but boulders are rolling down at you into the pit. Above, there is metal fencing that you can cling to to grab a star. The lowest section is a water-filled area where Dorrie lives, whom you can ride, and secret rooms, one that leads to a star, and one that leads to the Metal Cap stage. The music's instruments change based on where you're at (like Jolly Roger Bay's music) (Wet-Dry World does this too) which is a nice touch. This stage is fun and mysterious. 2. Shifting Sand Land - We're back for one more rage-inducing stage, but one I've come to really like. The rage just shows that it's challenging. This is a desert level done right, with lots of sand, some that is safe, some that you sink in, and some that really puts the "quick" in quicksand! You will climb to the top of the pyramid, tussle with a bird who like stealing, ride a Koopa Shell safely across the sand, get caught up in a sandstorm, dodge deadly Tox Boxes, and grab the Wind Cap and take flight to nab Red Coins! That's not all, head inside the pyramid for more fun! There's a whole level inside, where you'll need to pass many different obstacles on your journey to the top. There's also secrets in the pyramid... If you stand on the four pillars outside, the top of the pyramid pops off, and you can access a special elevator that takes you to the deepest section of the pyramid to fight an ancient boss, two stone hands with eyes. Yeah, no kidding! This boss is a bit harder than most of the others in the game, as both hands take 3 hits to defeat, and it's easy to get shoved off the arena. The Lethal Lava Land track somehow fits the outside level very well, and the inside plays the mysterious cave theme that Hazy Maze Cave and Wet-Dry World also have. It's not limited space on the cartridge or anything, nah, it just fits that well! This is a great stage! 1. Bob-omb Battlefield - There's not really a good explanation as to why this stage is so much fun, but it is. The first stage is done very right, and it's impossible not to smile at some point when playing it! There's a menacing Chain Chomp who guards a star, an island floating in the sky, friendly Bob-ombs and evil Bob-ombs, iron balls to knock you around, a spiraling mountain to climb, King Bob-omb at the top to fight, a speedy Koopa Troopa to race, a Shell to ride, Red Coins to find, cannons to shoot from, the list goes on! And probably the most iconic music in the game plays in this stage, which just adds to the joy of playing this stage. Hope you enjoyed my (long) list and let me know your list below!
@@Wesley-76 so I finally 100% completed the game recently, and I think it gave me stronger opinions on some levels I originally liked or disliked, so here's my list (based on how I felt getting 100 coins in each stage): 15. tick tock clock. I've always really really liked the design of tick tock clock, but the actual level itself was annoying to play for me. it was bearable before, but getting 100 coins is SO ANNOYING. it makes me feel like I'm playing getting over it lmao 14. rainbow ride. never really liked this level, the style was pretty fun but it was so restrictive and hard to get through that i never actively wanted to play it 13. lethal lava land. I've always liked lava worlds in Mario games, and originally I liked this one too. but again, getting 100 coins was a pain because of how easy it is to break the shell, and it doesn't respawn. the level itself is always fun tho 12. snow man's land. always felt like a weird alternate version of cool cool mountain to me, not a bad level but nothing special either. the coins are spread out a bit too, making it take a while to get them all 11. tall, tall mountain. the overall style of this level was fun, and I used to love the slide section so much, but I had to retry it multiple times to get 100 coins, and it got a bit annoying. but overall, it's a great level 10. hazy maze cave. I always liked how spread out and diverse hazy maze cave is, but it makes getting 100 coins really hard, they're all over the place and it takes aaaages to get them all... the upside is though, that it gives you an incentive to explore the whole area, which is fun 9. dire, dire docks. i have similar feelings to snow man's land with this, with how it's kinda just the second water level with nothing all that special. but still, the level itself is very pretty in places and it's by far the easiest 100 coins star in the game 8. shifting sand land. tbh sand levels in Mario games were never fun to me, but this one always stood out. it just has so many things to see, it's actually really impressive. my only problem is the quicksand, which makes dying really easy because it instakills you 7. cool, cool mountain. this level's always been really fun just because of the theme, falling off the mountain can get a little annoying but the general feeling of being there always makes me happy to play it 6. tiny-huge island. the concept of the level is really clever and fun, I always loved exploring the world in both versions, and getting the coins kinda lets you explore more 5. wet-dry world. never felt the 'negative emotional aura' people talk about, always just found it to be a fun and challenging level. getting 100 coins isnt really easy or anything, but it encourages you to explore the whole stage, and i always enjoying going to the sunken village. it's so mysterious, and seeing a full town in mario 64 just feels interesting 4. bob-omb battlefield. an absolute classic, and an amazing way to introduce the game. probably the first level that anyone thinks of with this game. but to be honest, it was never really a level i would come back to much, just gives off nice feelings whenever i visit it on a new save 3. jolly roger bay. there isn't much to this level, but the music and general feeling of the area is enough to make me love it. i used to just leave the game running in the background years ago, because i like the cozy atmosphere so much 2. whomp's fortress. probably the best designed level in the game from a gameplay standpoint. every star is fun, and it feels just like a mario game should. 1. big boo's haunt. probably my favourite of all because i've always been a fan of ghosts and spooky areas in games like this, and they knocked it out of the park for a game this limited. it's probably my favourite ghost area in any mario game, unless i'm forgetting something, always enjoyed going here for fun and to feel the spooky atmosphere. the 100 coins mission is just a good excuse to run around the mansion and explore all the creepy rooms (never found that piano scary tho)
Well the funny thing about this is you're probably ranking these from the prospective of an adult and when we were all kids, these maps were on a whole other level lol.
My 3 most and least favourite levels would be: 1. Bob Ombs Battlefield- a perfect world to start, much to explore, a Koopa race and just a lot of stuff to mess around 2. Cool Cool Mountain- I like snow levels, also it has a slide and the baby penguin rescue mission is really memorable 3. Tie between Shifting sand land and tall tall mountain- one has a big pyramid to explore, the other an awesome slide 13. Hazy Maze Cave- It´s creative and actually a good level, but I am never looking forward to playing it, the red coins are boring and it´s just ugly to look at. 14. Big Boos Haunt- I find the level design boring, it´s too small, you fight the same uncreative boss three times, the library is too easy and the last star ist just getting up to the previous star a bit faster. 15. Dire dire docks- the only level in this game I actually dislike. It is boring, the red coins are annoying as hell, and that big, gaping suckhole to me is ten times scarier than the piano. To me there is only 101 coins in this level, because there is just no way in hell I am going anywhere near that horrorhole.
Gotta give props to Big Boo's Haunt for actually being creepy, and Hazy Maze Cave for actually getting me lost! XD
Agreed!
Me. Too i agree

Those 2 courses are actually good
I really like Big boo haunt because of the possibility to jump around using wall jumps.
Its a good stage but number 1 WHY
Among my favorites, too! And I HATED Rainbow Ride as a kid and still do now :)
Rainbow Ride is the worst whaaaaat
Dire dire docks is the worst
@Manek Iridius True, but Rainbow Ride is the worst. It even taunts you with the most annoying music and 98% of the time you either wait or fall to your death.
And Hazy Maze is one of the best.
1. Tiny Huge Island: as a fan of Dinosaurs and things giant, I approve. Just have fun!
2. Big Boo's Haunt: quite a few unique paths and things in this "secret" level
3. Hazy Maze Cave: similarly, you unlock the metal cap, meet Nessie and just take many paths.
4. Bob-omb Battlefield: Just a fun and easy stage where you don't get punished for exploring
5. Jolly Roger Bay: the iconic eel and sunken ship, treasure, and soothing music
6. Snowman's Land: Another toolbox area to just have fun with invisible walls and ice bullies. Not as punishing as Cool Cool Mountain.
7. Wet-Dry World: very fun and creative puzzle/toolbox land
11. Tall, Tall Mountain: not as many instant deaths, but it's just a tall and boring mountain
12. Dire, Dire Docks: a really small and forgettable stage. Bowser's sub is cool though
13. Whomp's Fortress: good variety, but did everyone forget that any mistake in the whole level basically forces you to redo the whole stage?? Frustrating!
14. Tick Tock Clock: Boring and frustrating!
15. Rainbow Ride: ANNOYING. BEYOND. BELIEF. Worst stage ever. Nightmarishly atrocious.

You sicko. :p
SMR Super Mario Rhys It’s my favorite too, although I admit it wouldn’t be if I actually used the water switches and didn’t just use highest or lowest levels every time
Also my favourite. Also, how is LLL so high up? It's just a flat lava plain with random platforms and mediocre stars. (Volcano is good though)

I hate rainbow ride
I kinda like rainbow ride
It's actually my least favorite course in the game. I've died from falling in that level than every other death in all courses combined.
I don't really get what people expected of a sky course. Solid ground everywhere?
Hazy Maze Cave is my favorite stage, specially because it got my favorite cap power-up, Metal Mario (it felt so good just running over things in that form) and because it is the only Mario stage where you can RIDE A LAPRAS xD
It also was so big and felt like an actual maze, I got lost so many times in this stage.
that isnt a lapras, its dorrie
I actually like that stage. It's interesting seeing them take the underground theme Mario games were known for at the time and made it an abandoned mine with Indiana Jones styled traps. They even have the rolling boulders.

Trust me, try to experience SM64 in this way and you all can appreciate the depth inside every level.
i think that the "wet dry world negative emotional aura" theory is true
It's not. The stage is just crap.
Wet Dry World is the most nostalgic for me because when my cousin and I were younger, he had a used copy and it was mind-blowing to see how wet dry World worked. But my favorite course is probably Tiny Huge Island
The stage is just unfinished
Yeah, it's a solid stage. Just industrial and ugly. Navigating takes forever so it's slow to iterate on puzzle solving. You can basically avoid those little tosser robots too, so as long as you aren't trying to scale upwards while it's dry it's not that terrible of a level.
that theory is just dumb yeah the skybox might be creepy and the town but the main area is just a couple of floating platforms and blocks

11) Level 10 Ice Level 2 (climbing the snowman is fun, nothing else is. well except getting the perfect canon angle to beat the ice maze instantly lol)
HORRIBLE:
12). Level 11 Wet Dry (looks like Mario is in a boring office with gray cubicles)
13). Level 3 Water (gets tedious swimming through basically empty space, over and over and over)
14). Level 6 Cave (the moving platform with the arrows and falling off... slow and boring level)
15) Level 9 Water Level 2 (having to swim through 60 seconds of total emptiness over and over over = just plain bad design)
Look at that, somebody else besides me hates the water levels!
@@Wesley-76
so I finally 100% completed the game recently, and I think it gave me stronger opinions on some levels I originally liked or disliked, so here's my list (based on how I felt getting 100 coins in each stage):
15. tick tock clock. I've always really really liked the design of tick tock clock, but the actual level itself was annoying to play for me. it was bearable before, but getting 100 coins is SO ANNOYING. it makes me feel like I'm playing getting over it lmao
14. rainbow ride. never really liked this level, the style was pretty fun but it was so restrictive and hard to get through that i never actively wanted to play it
13. lethal lava land. I've always liked lava worlds in Mario games, and originally I liked this one too. but again, getting 100 coins was a pain because of how easy it is to break the shell, and it doesn't respawn. the level itself is always fun tho
12. snow man's land. always felt like a weird alternate version of cool cool mountain to me, not a bad level but nothing special either. the coins are spread out a bit too, making it take a while to get them all
11. tall, tall mountain. the overall style of this level was fun, and I used to love the slide section so much, but I had to retry it multiple times to get 100 coins, and it got a bit annoying. but overall, it's a great level
10. hazy maze cave. I always liked how spread out and diverse hazy maze cave is, but it makes getting 100 coins really hard, they're all over the place and it takes aaaages to get them all... the upside is though, that it gives you an incentive to explore the whole area, which is fun
9. dire, dire docks. i have similar feelings to snow man's land with this, with how it's kinda just the second water level with nothing all that special. but still, the level itself is very pretty in places and it's by far the easiest 100 coins star in the game
8. shifting sand land. tbh sand levels in Mario games were never fun to me, but this one always stood out. it just has so many things to see, it's actually really impressive. my only problem is the quicksand, which makes dying really easy because it instakills you
7. cool, cool mountain. this level's always been really fun just because of the theme, falling off the mountain can get a little annoying but the general feeling of being there always makes me happy to play it
6. tiny-huge island. the concept of the level is really clever and fun, I always loved exploring the world in both versions, and getting the coins kinda lets you explore more
5. wet-dry world. never felt the 'negative emotional aura' people talk about, always just found it to be a fun and challenging level. getting 100 coins isnt really easy or anything, but it encourages you to explore the whole stage, and i always enjoying going to the sunken village. it's so mysterious, and seeing a full town in mario 64 just feels interesting
4. bob-omb battlefield. an absolute classic, and an amazing way to introduce the game. probably the first level that anyone thinks of with this game. but to be honest, it was never really a level i would come back to much, just gives off nice feelings whenever i visit it on a new save
3. jolly roger bay. there isn't much to this level, but the music and general feeling of the area is enough to make me love it. i used to just leave the game running in the background years ago, because i like the cozy atmosphere so much
2. whomp's fortress. probably the best designed level in the game from a gameplay standpoint. every star is fun, and it feels just like a mario game should.
1. big boo's haunt. probably my favourite of all because i've always been a fan of ghosts and spooky areas in games like this, and they knocked it out of the park for a game this limited. it's probably my favourite ghost area in any mario game, unless i'm forgetting something, always enjoyed going here for fun and to feel the spooky atmosphere. the 100 coins mission is just a good excuse to run around the mansion and explore all the creepy rooms (never found that piano scary tho)
@@Tulip_bip Wow someone left a list, kudos to you! Big Boo's Haunt? I can see that. They did a really good job on that level.
Do Mario Kart 8 deluxe with no coins!!!
Also more Deepest Lore please.
Also lower the BBCUTIES price
How would you do mario kart? I mean that would have been really easy

NicoBBQ: Dire Dire Ducks
Text: Dire Dire Docks
Me: NicoBBQ Means Dire Dire Docks
I think it was his accent that made it sound like Dire Dire Ducks
Well the funny thing about this is you're probably ranking these from the prospective of an adult and when we were all kids, these maps were on a whole other level lol.
Ha, if you're hiding in the comments section you are a wimp! Ha!
Wait....
2 years late but lol
Wet-Dry World is Great level, The Concept of the level Makes It More Enjoyable
Glad I'm not the only one Who likes it😁
My 3 most and least favourite levels would be:
1. Bob Ombs Battlefield- a perfect world to start, much to explore, a Koopa race and just a lot of stuff to mess around
2. Cool Cool Mountain- I like snow levels, also it has a slide and the baby penguin rescue mission is really memorable
3. Tie between Shifting sand land and tall tall mountain- one has a big pyramid to explore, the other an awesome slide
