My cousin sent me his old collection last christmas, it was a really similar rando box but from 2013-15.
Hit an Ulamog, primordial hydra, baby chandra, and some other stuff from origins, shadows over innistrad and return to zendikar.

Also that Lifelink White Common might be worth holding on to. It's art was from Therese Nielsen. One of her most iconic arts. Her story is rather interesting.

This collection is back when I first started to play at FMN (outside of the Eventide stuff) I really only lasted through the Scars of Mirrodin block but still follow UA-cam videos. This is definitely a blast from the past. Thank you for bringing back great memories
My brother gave me his old collection in a shoebox. He opened a box of prophecy back in the day, got 11 rhystic studys out of it!

I had very similar dreams a long time ago. Loud noise started. Sounded like the THX noise, started low and became deafening. Then I look towards a door and then I’m frozen and I try to scream. The only way I got it to stop was to accept what was happening and relax. It felt like I was awake for it. Scared me a lot in my youth.
Dang man I know you don't love to do pricing but that's what made your channel unique to the other guys. Hard to stare at cardboard without that uniqueness like that
That's a beautiful collection, exactly from the time period I missed in MTG, the kind of thing I would dream of finding in a thrift store one day. Unfortunately I think I'm in a city where almost no one ever played Magic in the past, I never found anything Magic related in a thrift store.

What you experienced during sleep is called sleep paralysis. Normally, it prevents uncontrollable movement while being asleep but sometimes results in a so-called lucid dream (dreaming while being completely aware of the fact that you are experiencing a dream ). While being more or less conscious, your musculature is still in sleep mode, making you unable to move which often results in the nightmarish feeling you experienced. Sleep paralysis is often combined with hearing strange noises and your desciption of a train approaching is very typical for this.
There are some supposed triggers like stress or unhealthy sleeping habits (irregular sleeping patters, too little sleep etc.) as well as sleeping positions (flat on back or belly) that are known to stimulate sleep paralysis.
I had a friend sell me his collection for, iirc, $50 a very long time ago. I can't complain, since it gave me my 2nd Gaea's Cradle. 😎
In 2020 I picked up a small collection at a yard sale for $20 from the same area had Shadowmoore, Zenikar, eventide, scars of mirrodin, mirrodin besieged, and some lowyrn block, and kamigawa block and some others. Ended up with 3 scalding tarns, a jitte, sword of feast and famine, a foil coat of arms, 2 Kira glass spinners, a foil mirror gallery which is a silly card, also there was a ton of the champions of kami rare lands like forbidden orchard, hall of the bandit lord, minamo, Shinzo, boseju, the White Castle and shinka the red one that gives first strike to a legendary, there was at least 3 of each there was a pair of foil forbidden orchards with 4 non fouls, and a foil shizo, a foil Shinkas keep. The best card was a foil bloom tender in great shape, and 2 foil ponders from lowyrn.
The only Magic "gift" I ever got was my neighbor that lives behind me one day said that the guy that lived in the house before her left a box of gaming cards and she asked if I wanted them. A bunch of cards from some Star Wars game and older Magic, the only thing I would say of note is a mint Wasteland from Tempest.
It gets to the point when you just have too many cards. I just gave away 6000 commons to the neighborhood kids. While working for Wizards I got paid in product. That's only 1% of my stack.

I use to suffer from sleep paralysis a LOT.. also know as, “Old Hag Syndrome.” Sometimes feeling like something was holding me down, and gasping for air. And when I can finally breathe.. I would just start screaming until I can move. It’s terrifying!! Awesome score for a $1. Really enjoy the videos!
Only ever picked up one collection in my time playing. Traded a foiled out Uril the Miststalker EDH deck blindly for a box of 5k cards. Found all kinds of goodies Zendikar and Onslaught fetches, a bunch of good foils like Goblin Guide before his reprint. Blood Moons. Easily 10x my trade investment.

A buddy of mine let me sift through his collection, he didn't have too many major hits but a lot of $5-$15 cards. Best card I found was a Gilded Drake in pretty good condition. Bought the drake and he gave me Rhystic Study and Enlightened Tutor. Win win all around. Wish I could do stuff like that more often. Great video Mr. Moss!
The meds for my ADHD made me have those night terrors a lot. Cheif complaint of patients on methylphenidate and ritalin is having paralysis along with visions or sounds which are typically scary.

Dude I have had sleep paralysis a ton of times I automatically always get it when fall asleep on my back! If people have never experienced it you are lucky it is THE WORST feeling ever! So scary I've kind of trained myself to breath super loud and fast so my wife can wake me up! It suuuuuucks!!!!!
Hey Moss boss, I've been watching your videos for a couple years now and they're always entertaining. I live in the northeast Ohio area too and would be willing to sort your collection. I've done it for a good friend before and he was ecstatic when I was done. If he wanted to find a specific card he would know exactly where to find it and it was a big collection. I just got my sister's old collection and it had 8 reserved list cards including a Silver Queen. Also has 2 sylvan libraries with a handful of $2-30 cards

It's cool to see that old school classics like Underworld Dreams, Shatter, Nightmare, Dragon Whelp etc.. still get reprints in today's sets. Have you ever thought of making a deck with only re-prints that originate from the 93/94 period?
This dollar unboxing vid feels like a trip to memory lane. Pretty nostalgic.
A lot of it looks like draft chaff, so you can see kind of the sets he was playing and maybe routinely going to fnm for draft nights, which is pretty awesome. A really cool look back into someone's collection.
Misty rain forest is currently around 28 bucks alone. That lich currently is around 21 holo .
Biggest score I have gotten from a collection given to me was a blood boon from the dark and in the same collection there was a lions eye diamond
My wife just traded a bunch of our old consoles that have been gathering dust for years to someone for a massive box of several hundred if not over ~1000 cards. Had like, 30 Planeswalkers that we didn't have. Awesome trade

What you described sounds more in line with Exploding Head Syndrome rather than sleep paralysis.
Sleep paralysis has happened to me. The absolute worst part was when I tried to scream to let some one in my house know and I couldn't even make a sound. Truly the most terrifying experiences in my life.
Bought collection of all p9 Mox + bunch of foreign limited duals, FoW, APAC and EURO Lands sealed, gaeas craddle judge foil sealed and boxes full of stuff. He knew it was pricey but didnt want to spend to much time on it. So I got it all around 1000€. Was in the 2007-2010. Wish I kept it all... would have paid off my house rn :D Sold around 7-8k when quit playing around 2012 i guess.

I just bought 24 items from a thrift store online, each item is 100-200 cards, and some of them are 1100 cards. Was a bit more expensive than 1 dollar though (320usd), but looking forward to sifting through them. Maybe they're all commons though, god I hope not lol but the experience of just sifting through a random collection is priceless.

I have had similar dream experiences. In truth, you are not really awake and therefore can’t move due to suppression of part of your brain during the sleep state. It can be quite frightening as it feels like you are awake.
I always think maybe I will find someone’s collection and get a big hit. Doubt it will happen but a girl can dream….

That’s called sleep paralysis. It’s terrifying if it’s never happened to you before. First time it happened to me, I swore I saw a ghost for the next 3 years until it happened again lol
sheeesh thats a good friend!!! i never bought these editions, maybe a booster or two cause i recognize some symbols, but zendikar is growing on me! today im get a New Streets Of Capena booster box and a modern horizons 2 bundle, maybe next month i go for a zendikar booster box.....i stoped typing and checked the price.... nope, definitely not geting one!! ahahah bro that thing u talked about when u was sleeping seems kinda sleep paralysis!
What you are describing when you are talking about being half asleep and aware and feeling in danger is called ‘Sleep Paralysis’.
I work for a pest control company and i keep trying to convince one of my customers to give/sell me his son's old collection that just sits in his basement doing nothing. No luck so far. They're in a clear bin and it's very easy to see they're magic cards but i have no clue what cards they actually are. Makes me want them a little bit more 😂
Just tell the customer it's definitely 100% those old cards in the box bringing all the pests in.

You should have seen the foil rare from DualBrains recent Prophecy box opening. It was mangled straight out of the pack. Properly creased.
Looks like the packs was just opened in put in there in some spots. It would go three uncommons then a rare a few times I noticed in a row.

I saw a little grey alien when I had sleep paralysis, he was right at the foot of my bed, about 4 feet tall. sounded like an angry bee hive. when I was finally able to move my toes the spell broke and I lunged forward, I could see the expression on his face go from angry to horrified then he booked ass into my kitchen. Iheard the slap of his little feet on the tiles. I grabbed my guitar and positioned it upside down like an axe. I turned the corner into the hallway fully expecting to see the visitor, and ready to give him a spanking. Nothing there. not in the bathroom or closet either. I also had my hair pulled when I was sleeping on the same couch at 3 am. Later I was told the place was haunted. It was an old historic town, I was in one of the oldest buildings on main street.

I used to do proxy ducks until I got to Friday night magic and they wouldn't allow it for a tournament so then I had to do real decks but actually a lot of those cards I have brings back a lot of memories actually I left Star Trek trading card game for magic when it first came out God those were the days

Its called sleep paralysis. Try sleeping on your side, it helps... Good luck with it, its damn freaky the first few times. Also, wake up your feet first, easy to move around and it works fast.
The only way I fall asleep anymore is on my side. When I pass out on my back I have wild dreams, mostly bad

the northeast market has not had a single Kamigawa collector since nearly drop. they sold out of 6 LGS in literally 8 hours and I haven't even seen set boosters since. nvm Double masters
