  • Making a push dagger / knife from an old rusty circular saw blade and some firewood lying around.
I made a cool push dagger for display purpose only. That is why I didn't heat treated or sharpened it properly. I used materials and tools I had at home. The old saw blade was no longer useful and firewood would eventualy burn. It does look like its curly maple. If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments and I will try to answer all of them. Enjoy!
00:50 - cutting out the rough shape
    01:40 - grinding/defining final shape
02:22 - boring holes for brass pins
    02:38 - sanding both surfaces
03:05 - file work / making a pattern on the spine
04:41 - cutting firewood for the handle
05:54 - glueing the plastic to wood (2k epoxi glue)
    06:30 - grinding / sharpening the edges
08:12 - glueing wood and plastic for the handle to the knife
09:34 - sanding and shaping the handle
10:30 - polishing the knife blade
10:41 - spraying a clear coat on the handle to make the curly maple stand out
Thanks for watching. Like and subscribe for upcoming projects. I'll start making videos more often, so don't miss any of them.

This video was oddly pleasing to watch. No speed lapse editing, didn’t skip steps but didn’t show everything in painfully minute detail and no funky music. And the end product was beautiful.

Angle grinder, files, sandpaper and a small saw aren't that expensive. The machine on wich I make bevels is a homemade machine for grindin woodworking planer blades(but you can make em on an angle grinder, You just have to try a bit different approach).

No need to harden as saw blades are already hardened and if you did not heat the metal up too much while working on it the hardening is good enough.

    isn't the wood too soft?

    • @MakeAndTest
      @MakeAndTest  4 роки тому +1

The wood is maple and its a hard wood. But it is true that I didn't stabilize it. The blade itself is not heat treated too. It's all because the knife was made for display purpose only, or maybe for opening letters. I'm in no way of supporting the true purpose of such a knife(dagger). I'll do a useful knife project in the next couple of videos.
