I Made a Push Dagger From Saw Blade And Firewood

- Making a push dagger / knife from an old rusty circular saw blade and some firewood lying around.
I made a cool push dagger for display purpose only. That is why I didn't heat treated or sharpened it properly. I used materials and tools I had at home. The old saw blade was no longer useful and firewood would eventualy burn. It does look like its curly maple. If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments and I will try to answer all of them. Enjoy!
00:50 - cutting out the rough shape
01:40 - grinding/defining final shape
02:22 - boring holes for brass pins
02:38 - sanding both surfaces
03:05 - file work / making a pattern on the spine
04:41 - cutting firewood for the handle
05:54 - glueing the plastic to wood (2k epoxi glue)
06:30 - grinding / sharpening the edges
08:12 - glueing wood and plastic for the handle to the knife
09:34 - sanding and shaping the handle
10:30 - polishing the knife blade
10:41 - spraying a clear coat on the handle to make the curly maple stand out

This video was oddly pleasing to watch. No speed lapse editing, didn’t skip steps but didn’t show everything in painfully minute detail and no funky music. And the end product was beautiful.
I'm glad you like it.
Really nice grinder setup. I'm going to have to build one
And I'm gonna have to modify this one a little bit.
omg thankyou for making this video abt how you make an pushdagger ive actually been really curios how to make them
and i love the custome design
Glad I could help!
Wow, the editing on this is fantastic! Great video!
Thanks! Be sure to check out my other videos and subscribe if you like the channel. :)
That's awesome dude
Am I the only one with out tools like this at home??
Angle grinder, files, sandpaper and a small saw aren't that expensive. The machine on wich I make bevels is a homemade machine for grindin woodworking planer blades(but you can make em on an angle grinder, You just have to try a bit different approach).
No you aren’t
The man got a knife and 50 or more$ in his pocket. It's beauty.
Not really.
Nicely done mate, for the knife and the video!
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed. I'm working on another knifemaking project. Subscribe if you'd like to see more.
Looks very good!
Thanks man, glad you like it.
Awesome craftsmanship
Thank you. I'm glad you like it.
Nice.
Thanks man, glad you like it. :)
Hermoso trabajo!
Thanks man, glad you like it! :)
@@MakeAndTestojala algun dia pueda hacer un trabajo tan lido y con tanta dedicacio. (I wish one day to do such a nice job and with so much dedication).
I like how you built this knife to cut the bread lol. Jokes aside, it's very cool :)
Glad you like it man :) I see you watched my other video hahah. This knife is now meant to open letters. Stay tooned, I'm working on another knife project at the moment.
Parabéns pelo excelente acabamento. Simplesmente impressionante a perfeição no acabamento.
obrigado
Dope AF results, @MakeAndTest.
Thanks. Glad you like it. One of my first videos I made, that I really like still to this day.
Beutiful alove push dagger and that is same art thanks
Thank you, glad you like it.
Le tube d'époxy bi composant coute aussi cher que le couteau tout fait avec un étui kydex.....mais le plaisir de le faire soi même !
Exactly!
👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Awesome video. but how is characteristic of circle saw? Is it similar with 1095 spring steel or better at rust ressistant?
(Looks at the groove in the bench grinder.) someone has been tig welding......
Yes indeed. And you can tell I was learning to weld. Dipping the tungsten was on the menu all day long :D
It is fuckin awesome.
Thanks man, glad you like it :)
@@MakeAndTest I'm think i'll make something similar.
You make awsome...
What is your name bro
Where you from
😂❤❤
Glad you like it
Gonna want to harden and that steel
This knofe was made for display purpose only. I'll heat treat my other knifemaking porjects. Subscribe for upcoming projects if you like to see more of this kind of builds. :)
@Make&Test
No need to harden as saw blades are already hardened and if you did not heat the metal up too much while working on it the hardening is good enough.
What happened to the heart wheel spinner?
Not sure what youre talking about?
kašno plastiko si dal med lesom in železom, kakšno je to lepilo in kaj si dal zraven lepila (neko črno stvar) drugače pa zelo lep izdelek
Plastiko sem odrezal iz enega majhnega koša za smeti. Namazal z dvokomponentim epoksi lepilom in dodal pigment v prahu.
Hey man what is the machine you use to grind your bevels ? Or how is it made, looks like a great tool
Its a homemade grinder made for sharpening blades on woodworking tools (planer,...)
@@MakeAndTest if you ever do a video on how to make it i would be down to learn, awesome work on the dagger btw
@@sheadiggins3188 Might really happen, because a lot of people requested an explenation of this tool. :) Hope I'll have the time to maki it soon.
@@MakeAndTest I was thinking, as I watched your video, that I'd have to make a jig to move the steel back and forth against my stationary grinder. Really instructive video and I thank you for sharing. Mike
@@mikekernan5388 I'll post more soon. Stay tooned.
what did you spray at the last of the video?
Clear coat lacquer. It was the only thing I had. Could have used oil. If it was stabilized I would't have to use anything.
How wide is the grip?
WOW, You should sell them, I want one, how much do you sell it for?
Unfortunately I don't sell them. This was just a fun project to make. I will be making more when I get the time
Ok let me Know, we you have one available
Thanks
isn't the wood too soft?
The wood is maple and its a hard wood. But it is true that I didn't stabilize it. The blade itself is not heat treated too. It's all because the knife was made for display purpose only, or maybe for opening letters. I'm in no way of supporting the true purpose of such a knife(dagger). I'll do a useful knife project in the next couple of videos.
@@MakeAndTest that makes sense, I love the woods structure, looks a bit like 3D waves
Подскажите что за черный порошок смешивали ?
Эпоксидная смола
А чтобы черная стала эпоксидка что добавили ?
