Hi Suzy, aki you converted me to the batch cooking way of life and honesty my life has greatly improved. I have more time with my kids and being a working mom I am able to instruct my son on what we will eat for supper and he lets it thaw before I come from work. Hi Suzy, i noticed you cleaned your freezer with kitchen soap and scrubber. I would advice you use bicarbonate soda and a soft cloth. If you do have that use lemon or vinegar. Avoid soap in the freezer and or fridge.

@@suzyshomestead for you to keep your appliance in great shape the basic rule of housekeeping is to never use abrasives. After all soap is a detergent and that's where you keep your food. If you pass on that role to your house help and traces of soap are left in the freezer that would be dangerous for you and your family. Another thing is that soap spoils appliances. So even for your refrigerator, cooker use vinegar, bicarbonate or lemon. If you have burnt foods on your cook stove soak overnight.
I was surprised too...also bicarbonate helps to avoid some funny odour in the fridge
Suzy, how can I thank you? Watching you in just 24 hours has really changed my attitude about how I think about my home and being a wife and mother. I've been neglectful of these important, womanly home duties. I've been over-reliant on house helps. I've been lazy with cooking. But seeing you as a fellow career woman, with 4 children, a business, a UA-cam channel - there's really no excuse. And you do it all with such a positive attitude! God bless you. I am having an epiphany and I will be re-prioritizing how I am present in my home!

Hi Suzy, when making any slow cooker meats, its best to brown the meat to give flavour using spices of your choice. This will extract more aroma and make the meal taste better. Just a food for thought

Suzi, here in the States corn and beans is usually used to make a cold salad. You mix those two with purple onion, tomatoes and a dash iof whatever else, chill it in the fridge and viola, a nice cold salad. Who knew!? 😋

That corn flour dish looks like tuwo, a cornmeal eaten in northern Nigeria. That crust we used to struggle to get it as children. It's called kanzo. Your dishes all look so attractive. You have given me ideas for next month's meal prep and batch cooking. Well done

I have a concern though, instead of adding the vegetables (carrots and zucchini) to the slow cooker, you can add them when the meat is well done.that way, nutrients in the veggies are not completely destroyed by the temperature albeit slow. 😊

Maybe you could start with meal prepping every week. And make food that could last longer, for example a pot of soup /stew that last 2 days.

Whenever my son makes ugali which is every time we eat ugali he serves the crust on a separate plate for all to enjoy. My entire household are fans of Ugali crust

Thanks! This time it didn't cost as much because I used a lot of what was in my freezer, but I'd say about 12k including the meats for the whole month.

I do batch cooking for relish and rice for a week because I can't do a month because of the electricity in our country can be disappointing sometimes so i don't want to come to you crying over rotten things in the freezer

Food comes out of the freezer the way you put it in girl. I think you should just try it for yourself and see. I'm sure you'll do great!

I don't have a Slow cooker but what I know it's very slow but the taste of the slow cooker is awesome. I wish I had one 🕐 ,,,,when I grow 🪴 up 🤣

Suzy do you first cook you're beans before you freeze it and for how long thanks 🙏❤
Yes I do Susan. We boil them then stew them. If the beans are dry, we soak them overnight then boil on the stove for like 2hrs. If you have an instant pot it should take 30mins max. Then we make the tomato sauce base and add the boiled beans. Then once cooled, we freeze them.
Can you tell me when you take them out from freezer they have to be eaten and finish the same day??
Hi! When I remove a meal from the freezer we normally have it for dinner and lunch the following day.

Nah sis! This food can last up to 72hrs without power. Thankfully we've rarely gone beyond 24hrs without power.
Is like that slow cook pot does not require water to cook food.
It depends on the recipe I think. We will keep exploring it some more. Stay tuned. 🤗🤗

How do you store your chapatis
I prefer to store the dough, but I make them I wrap in aluminium foil then cling film.

I don’t really know? But I only use for the two uses. For “only “ the same product. Then after that I throw it away. Because it is hard for the product to stay in the bag without it leaking everywhere. Then I’ve got a new problem 🙃
