This may just be me, but do you ever get fearful when you wipeout in deeper water? You seem totally comfortable with it, any tips on getting over something like that when paddle boarding in the ocean?

+Jack Hosna I used to be terrified of sharks and it took me a while to get over that fear. I'm assuming that is what your fear of wiping out is based on as well? The water is soft and won't hurt you, so there is no need to fear getting wet. I don't even think about sharks anymore, they are not out to get us. If you think about it, there are millions of humans in the ocean every day and fatal shark attacks are very rare. Clearly the chances of getting attacked by a shark in the water is much smaller than dying in a car crash on the way to the beach and you are much more likely to die from drowning anyway. Always wear a leash, use the buddy system and have fun.

Great video! That wipeout with the canoe looks pretty gnarly. You must have got dragged by your leash a little as it got caught by the canoe?

+Algarve SUP Thank you. The wipeout was not bad for me, I jumped over the canoe and just grazed the ama, unfortunately it got a crack and the OC1 paddler had to head in. My friend Jeff hit the nose of my board (you can see it in the slow motion footage) and was a bit sore. I just took off my leash to untangle our leashes before the next wave came. As you can see we were catching more waves right afterwards.

Is this a pretty good spot for beginner-intermediate SUP surfers?

+bjywong It's a good spot for surfing race boards. The wave can be hard to catch on a shorter surf SUP but the longer raceboards make it easier to catch it and you can get long rides. On a good south swell day this wave gets pretty good!
