The most famous park in Poland. An ideal place for romantic walks, exploring nature in the city center and ... Time travel straight back to the 18th century - Royal Łazienki - the undisputed pearl of the capital. It is pleasant to walk here at any time of the year. Even in a blizzard. Last winter, there was no snow in almost all of Poland. But this winter turned out to be snowy.
Ujazdów castle. Castles on this site were located since the XIII century. In 1624, not far from the present Łazienki, the Polish king Sigismund III did not build the baroque Ujazdów Castle, which now houses the Museum of Modern Art. King Stanislaw Augustus chose for his summer residence the mighty majestic Ujazdów Castle, which rises on the hillside.
The largest park in the center of the Polish capital occupies 76 hectares. The Park got the name łazienki ("baths") from a bathing pavilion.
The history of the Royal Łazienki begins in 1674, when Stanislav Irakli Lubomirsky took possession of the Uyazd estate. He also built Baths, "Lazne" in Polish. The pavilion, in the center of which was the so-called grotto, and inside there was a fountain, reminiscent of the mythical Hippocrene.
In 1764, Ujazdów acquired a new owner: the newly elected young King of Poland, Stanislaw August Poniatowski, an educated ruler, a connoisseur of arts and philosophy. He was engaged in the reconstruction of the bathing pavilion, which resulted in a building worthy of the Polish king-a Palace on the Water.
Stanislav August was a great lover of the arts. The collection that he collected all his life, by the end of his reign, numbered 2,478 paintings. Once here you could enjoy the paintings of Rembrandt, Titian, paintings by artists of the Rubens school... After the Third Partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the collection was lost. Today, you can see only 10 % of the paintings from the impressive collection of the last Polish king.
Most of the buildings in the park were burned down in 1944. The reconstruction of the park and the palaces was completed within a few years after the end of the Second World War.
Łazienki is divided into an 18th-century Royal Park, a 19th-century Romantic Park, a 20th-century Modernist Park, a Botanical Garden, and an alley of Chinese lanterns with gazebos.
New greenhouse. The building was built in 1860, and was intended to preserve a collection of orange trees. The pride of the collection was the long-lived orange trees (there were 124 of them). Today, the conservatory houses a winter garden and a restaurant in the north wing.
In the Łazienki Park has its own rules of behavior. For example, you can not ride roller skates, skateboards and bicycles, as well as make noise, so as not to disturb the other inhabitants of the park - squirrels and peacocks.
The 18th century was a period of fascination with antiquity . On the Apennine Peninsula, an extraordinary discovery was made: the remains of three cities buried as a result of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius were discovered. These were Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae . Thus began the fashion for antiquity. Thanks to this, an Amphitheater appeared in Łazienki. Only... It was mostly built of wood, because there are a lot of forests in the area.
The amphitheater was built in 1790-1793, decorated with statues of 16 famous ancient poets. The scene on the island was modeled after ancient Herculaneum.
The Palace on the island , one of the most valuable Polish monuments in the classical style, with the Royal Art Gallery. It was built in the XVII century in the form of a Hermitage with a Chinese-style bathhouse.

No w tym odcinku już poprawna historia, bez mylenia imion królów :-)))) Bo August Mocny to była gnida jeden z najgorszych królów Polski, który doprowadził do upadku państwa. Stanisław August nie był dużo lepszy ale za jego panowania Warszawa dużo zyskała. :-))) , kraj za to stracił niepodległość. W sumie postać tragiczna, z jednej strony reformator, bo reforma edukacji i Konstytucja 3 Maja , czyli druga na świecie , a pierwsza w Europie konstytucja. Z drugiej strony tchórz i zdrajca, jeden z kochanków Carycy Katarzyny. Jedyny nienaruszony pałac w Warszawie, to letnia rezydencja króla Jana III Sobieskiego, czyli Pałac w Wilanowie. Można go zwiedzać też zimą. Wpisz sobie na YT Festiwal Światła Wilanów. :-)))))

Душевный парк, очень красиво, представляю как ещё красивше в летнее время. Жаль что картины были утеряны или уничтожены, это была бы самая красивая галерея. Хотелось бы посмотреть внутри, надеюсь это получится увидеть когда нибудь в ваших роликах. Ещё бы сделали велосипедные дорожки, жаль что нельзя кататься, а так волшебно в нём ходить в любую погоду.
