It's was built to memorise the 20 anniversary of the Algerian independence.
The three Palm leaves as symbols of sacrifice independence and wealth
It was a gift from Canada
I think he was talking about Hamma Garden, which is also wrong to say it was a gift from France.
@@thenumidianman3989 No he was talking about the Martyrs Monument and unfortunately he made a great mistake saying that France gave it to Algeria which is sooooo wrong !
@@noranora9032 Hey, I had to watch it and now I know he was talking about the martyr's monument. I thought he was talking about Garden of Hamma, which I heard some French people claim belonged to them, when in reality they stole it from us, remodeled it a bit, used it to give seeds to new colonizers.
It's funny and sad if the taxi driver told him that France gave us the monument, but I guess it was a misunderstanding because of his English.

France gave us nothing but death, losing our land, humiliation torture and many many many nightmares... All that Algeria have from that time (just haussmanian buildings and some churches), we fought for it. And the huge monument Maqam Al Chahid was built by algerians after our war for indépendance, that we won without army just by the people, algerians. And those brave people who died during that terrible time, are chouhada (plural of chahid) which martyrs. Algeria has a huge history before the french colonisation, during the french colonization and after, during présent times. We were always there, keeping our religion, traditions, gastronomie, history, bravery and we fought and will fight for anybody who wants their independance from western imperialism. Long live Algeria, the country of Islam and freedom, and FREE PALESTINE our blood brothers and sisters are suffering for so long. YA ALLAH free them and us from evil zionism. Have fun in my country, you'll see people don't see you as a walking Bill. We love people and showing them our beautiful country and people. May ALLAH bless you and Gladys

We thank the taxi owner because he represents the Algerian with his simplicity and because he is able to some extent to communicate in English, but he accidentally made a mistake because he is not fluent in the English language. But he is grateful anyway
The visa is difficult to obtain coz Algeria applies the reciprocity principle, so if a country makes it difficult for Algerians, their citizens will have it difficult too. As simple as that.
FYI DO NOT TIP people in Algeria, we take it as an insult and of they offer you something do not offer money, just say thank you and they'll be happy.

Let me answer you, because I am an elderly Algerian, our interaction with the French is done with coldness And resentment especially with the new generation, with a background of bitterness. We forgive but we don't forget the French colonial crimes and pogroms against our ancestors and its wounds which remain alive until today. The entire Algerian territory is an open-air museum which recalls the people and the Tourists of the misdeeds of satanic France. We deeply despise it, government and people. On the other hand, our dealing and engagement with other nations are done in the best possible way, because we have Nothing to reproach us for, that's the difference...Our famous colonel, dead president BOUMEDIENNE HAD told FRENCH LEADERS AFTER INDEPENDENCE: “WE HAVE TURNED THE PAGE, BUT WE HAVE NOT TORN IT UP.”Between us and France An abyssal gulf now separates us from her indefinitely.

A Puerto Rican here from Orlando, FL. I have to say, Chris, and Gladys, I love your videos. Like you, I am a Special Forces retired. I hate the negativity that is politically applied, by default, to Muslims by those who love to spread hate and brand us as the perpetual standarte bearer of Israeli interest. Some of my closest friends are Muslim, and we show each other respect and love. The Muslim countries I have visited have only shown me love and have opened up their culture and love for me and my family. We need a whole lot of growing up to do in this country and I thank you for what you and Gladys are doing to assist in that process of teaching us that what separates us is dirty politics and not anything of substance! God bless and protect you both! Tell Gladys for me: Que Viva Venezuela! I plan to visit there soon.
Very well said this comes out only from people with good hearts, this proves you are one of them.
Mon frère vient en Algérie tu seras chez toi et ta famille
hey im algerian living in st pete, we should have breakfast or lunch lol
Venezuelan women are among the most beautiful on earth. And yes you are right, I have been thinking about writing a book about why the West, mostly Americans, should get along with MUSLIM people. What do you think?
I’m so proud of my people they treat guests like Royalties ❤❤Taxi driver reminds me of my brother’s generosity and kindness ❤❤❤❤

Please bro don't embarrass them with tips , just enjoy the unconditional love in algeria , You don't need to give them anything , except if you are buying something , otherwise ( favors, if they're telling you "don't pay" so don't do it ... etc ) .
@@anteversus8471 Yeah i get it bro , we give free things to each other that's totally fine we exchange food always in ramadan , but when I help someone to find he's way or I give Him a gift , I find it embarassing that they giving me money , I just want him to understand that in algeria when we help or give we do it always with love , without waiting money from the other part, just "thanks" will be fine .
@@mohammedlaminghenam4943 After all, the little gifts we give are unsolicited, and that's what gives them their charm. Vendors often leave us dinars when we run out of change, something that doesn't happen in any other country in the world.
But when it comes to giving money to someone who has just given you some information, I find that totally inappropriate. It's not done in Algeria and I hope it stays that way.
Oui mais pas de l'argent, chez nous in ne donne pas de pour boire ou de l'argent quand quelqu'un t'offre de l'aide, 3ib@@anteversus8471

The Maqam Echahid (Arabic: مقام الشهيد) (English: Martyrs' Memorial) is a concrete monument commemorating the Algerian War. The monument was opened in 1982, on the 20th anniversary of Algeria's independence. It is fashioned in the shape of three standing palm leaves, which shelter the "Eternal Flame" under it. At the edge of each palm leaf is a statue of a soldier representing a stage of Algeria's struggle for independence. Was designed by
Bachir Yelles and Marian Konieczny. Source: Wikipedia
Wow This mosque is splendid. A real beauty. It makes you want to visit. I saw vlogs from a French UA-camr "Ben N'Co", he was able to climb to the top of the Minaret, offering a 360 degree panorama. The view is spectacular.
I completely agree with you. Algerians are a deeply honest people. This is one of their strongest characteristics. Moreover, it is often they who invite and even pay for strangers. To be honest, Algeria is completely different from the rest of Africa and I would even say the world. Honesty is part of their education. It's in their DNA. Unlike neighboring countries, in Algeria people do not harass tourists to sell them anything and everything, nor try to rip them off. And that's really great as tourists. Plus, no matter where you are in Algeria, there will always be someone ready to help you if needed. So yes I agree with you to say that Algerians are honest and caring. they are like that. And the best part is that their generosity and honesty are selfless. They don't expect anything in return. This is pure honesty. They wear their hearts on their sleeves. This is remarkable in our time. This is probably why my best friend is of Algerian origin.
Little advice. With the Algerians when they offer you something, it is from the good heart. The only way to manage to pay is to be faster than them. So either you put the money in his shirt pocket or in his hand. This is the only way to manage to pay. You have to be faster because when an Algerian decides to pay for you or refuse to let you pay him, there is nothing more to do, he will not want the money. It's typically Algerian. They don't give a damn about the money. What they foresee above all is values and humanity. I know what I'm talking about, my best friend is Algerian, and he's like that. Moreover, they are the most loyal in friendship and love. But on the other hand, there is only one thing they do not forgive, and that is betrayal. They would give you their shirt if we are loyal to them Wonderful people.
Many thanks for your lovely comment ❤🇩🇿

No France didn't give it to Algeria , but Algeria has built it.
And also Algeria gave the metal to France to build the Eifekl tower.
Means it's kinda Algerian Eifel tower ...
Awesome! Thank you for that explanation and for the correction 🙏🏻
