I went here twice. First time was in 2011 and it was one of the greatest nights out I ever had. Second time I went was in spring break 2013, after convincing my friends this was the greatest place to ever go out on the lash it was the most disappointing nights of our trip. It changed so much. Really crowded and with crappy acts. The place is a disaster waiting to happen. We left very early and as we were heading out it was unbelievable how many more people they were allowing to enter.
41RobLow I don't know if you're interested, but here's my experience. In January, after a week of persuasion from our rep, we eventually shelled out about $1,000 for five tickets. When escorted into the club we were given 2 seats and a table, (which obviously meant 3 of us were expected to stand for 5 hours) and we were served watered down, often non alcoholic, warm, cheap, and random drinks. For instance, I asked for a vodka and coke and actually received some kind of diluted grape juice soda. That went on all night, and staff were rude and unapologetic when eventually confronted. The club was jam-packed to the point where moving to the bar or to the toilet was an half hour ordeal. Due to this, the temperature of the place was unbelievable, and I'd assume, quite dangerous too. We were all struggling, despite us all being young and fit twenty-somethings. I really can't see an elderly or sick person being able to cope with it. And God forbid there's ever a fire, because that place would act as a death trap. I'd almost forgotten to comment on the acts... Nothing more than the typical tribute acts that you'd expect from a 3-star hotel. You've got your dancing Storm Troopers, lip synching Michael Jacksons (Prince/Bowie are probably up there too now), unlicensed Disney characters, the lot. A lot of people are clearly into that sort of thing, so maybe it's just us, but we found ourselves more embarrassed than entertained. If you need anymore of a disincentive to go, just have a walk past the club in the daytime and experience the blokes dressed as The Mask who'll inevitably, without any permission, grab any female you're with, pick her up, encourage you to take their photograph, and then afterwards, wave their hat in your face demanding payment. One of our group had a 50 cent coin which he reached towards them with, this was immediately snatched out of his hand before the words... "We need ten dollars", were coldly directed at him. We told them to fuck off, but I imagine that a lot of people are intimidated enough to oblige them everyday. That's what it seemed like there intentions were. I feel like it's a giant conspiracy. Literally everyone we met in Cancun raved about this club nonstop. Our rep, a hairdresser, the bar staff at the hotel, and even the bus drivers were all adamant that we had to check out this place. Almost every review on Trip Advisor is glowing, except for a handful that describe exactly what I experienced. I can't get my head around it.

I'm so glad to hear this kind of opinion. In two months me and my fiancé go to Cancun and in a short trip, with no much money, we need to go to places that really worth it. Funny fact is that people is constantly recommending Coco Bongo as a high point of their trips. Are they crazy or something? I can't get.
