This must be the most impressive promotional video for ESP, Tama, Marshall etc.. Either that or a visually & musically jav dropping requiem for one of their founding members & bassist Yuuichi Kageyama, better known as Jasmine You, who died suddenly at age 30. I guess it must be the latter because they are all wearing black feathers & there’s a moment of silence towards the end of the song.
Although some people might say that the song is too long, I for one could listen & watch this live performance of these highly talented musicians on repeat for hours, which is why I also give them 9.6.

Also, the song is about a promise they made which is to sing in this particular stage, making this performance very special.

Hizaki did a better job of holding it together in this performance. Some of the earlier performances on this tour, especially in a couple of the South American dates with vids posted on UA-cam Hizaki literally broke down in tears during the last 3-4 minutes when it turns into a full on funeral paeon for Jasmine.
Hizaki had been friends with Jasmine You for over a decade before bis dearh and they were in two bands together before landing with Kamijo and Versailles.

I only wonder why a Japanese band would be named after a French town. That being said, what an amazing song and performance.
PS: Their outfits fits the "Visual Kei" style which is a fashion trend that started with some Japanese bands in the 80's as described in this copy and paste below:
"Visual Kei (V系) is a Japanese fashion movement among Japanese musical artists with influences based in Glam Rock, Goth, Punk and traditional Japanese clothing, whereas the fans and their aesthetic are refered to as Bangya (バンギャ).
It originated in the late 80s, but was heavily influenced by early 80s Japanese Goth rock and Post-Punk bands in its visuals (particularly bands like Auto-Mod, Madame Edwarda, Phaidia, and Die Zibet).
Going even further back, the Japanese Post-Punk bands were musically and aesthetically influenced by members of particularly theatrical Goth and neo-Glam bands, like Japan, Hanoi Rocks. Bauhaus, Gene Loves Jezebel, and Christian Death. (Zin-Francois Angelique of Madame Edwarda and ISSAY of Die Zibet took from this style especially.)
The results of this conglomeration of influences include very flamboyant and big hair, heavy makeup, and elaborate costumes of varying styles. Determining whether a band is visual kei or not is generally rather easy - it can be as simple as looking at images of the band, and either the fans or the artists themselves will be sure to let you know if they are, as it's generally a conscious choice to be a part of the scene.
As it is primarily a visual style, it's impossible to pin down visual kei by hearing alone, and to dismiss a band as "not visual kei" based on their sound is unwise, as the music can range from J-pop to extreme metal to electronic dance music."

I can answer that for you.
The band decided their image should be that of vampires, and they choose to base the image of vampires from the Lestat look.
Lestat is the main character in a series of books written by Anne Rice and took place in France and this character was a vampire.
Versailles is probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think about French aristocracy, at least for me (and I guess also other people not from France) because of it's historical significance and media (movies, TV series etc).

@@Zandman26 Thank you! In fact, I watched the movie "Interview with a vampire" in which Lestat is a secondary character. And although I didn't read any of the books I know that he is the main character in most of the other books. Only the city as portrayed in the movie is actually New Orleans (Lousiana), not a french town. Maybe it's different in the books.

The outfits are based on the Baroque era French Rocco.
The one in the dress is Hizaki and he is a man. That is just a costume, he picked that because he wanted to be noticed in the Baroque era women were not allowed to play music or act professionally. So when a female character was needed it would be a man in a dress.

that last part you mentioned was actually from kabuki theater, the men that played women were called "onnagata". mana, the guitarist of another visual kei band, malice mizer, also crossdresses and specifically refers to himself as an onnagata. malice mizer is also a very theatrical band like versailles and they like to involve a lot of acting and storytelling into their performances and music videos, he plays the female characters which is why he calls himself that. i assume the same goes for hizaki as well

Good reaction. I prefer his early days, with the songs from the Noble album. The singer voice was even better then.
