  • Looking for seashells in winter is actually pretty awesome when you live in Florida. It's taken me 4 years to figure out how to do it right, so now I can go and not freeze my tail or roast to death when it warms up.

As a happy Patreon, I enjoy supporting you so that everyone can enjoy your videos. I know during some tough times and dark days, I have found great joy in going to the beach with you. ❤️🥰 I can’t speak for the other Patreons, but I don’t need anything special. That being said, this was one of my favorite videos so far. The critters give me so much joy and laughter. Great close encounters! And that Rose is gorgeous! Mine hasn’t found me yet, but I did get my first few perfect sand dollars and my first carrier shell last week. It’s so special just to have the opportunity to see what I find, but those special shells are just such a thrill! Congrats!

Thanks for always taking me along on your beach walks. I started watching just before Ian hit and changed life for a while. Although we are a little north of you and only a mile from the beach, at the end of the day, we were lucky to have enough energy to get dinner from the World Kitchen or fast food. (We didn’t have a kitchen for 5 months and I was too tired to cook anyway.) It is strange that a beach walk could provide an escape from the reality of Ian; however, I watched a video each night and they were like therapy. We are finally about to finish repairing the last of our damage: a lanai. Since we did most of the work ourselves, it took a while. To celebrate, we are coming down your way soon to spend a day at Fort Myers Beach, a day at Marco, and a day at Keewaydin. We plan to have a “shelltastic”time.
    Thanks again
    Bev

Ian was such a jerk!! I was a little out of sorts after that so I can relate, but I didn't lose my kitchen. I am so sorry for all you have endured. It's still a little weird driving past the destruction to get to the beach, but once I can hear the gulf water all is well again. Nature is so resilient. I hope you have an outstanding time on your little shelling adventure down here. Try to plan getting to the beach at low tide to help find those treasures!

Good evening, Beach Angel and all my other beachy friends! It's so good to be with you after a long, tough week. My dear husband passed away on Friday evening, so I really needed to run away from my sadness and walk the beach with you!
It looks like half the shells in the sea are washed up on Keewaydin! What fun!
I like the pretty horse conchs because they remind me of the spindle on a spinning wheel! So lovely! Their golden color makes me think of an old fairy tale about spinning straw into gold.
The morning sun shining on the shells makes their colors really pop. I really love early mornings, but it would be so much nicer if they'd start just a little bit later!
This is probably the best collection of living shells I've seen you film, Sharmon! So many critters to meet and greet!
Oh, wow! Such a gorgeous rose murex! Spectacular! The best one yet, as I recall! So nice!
I know that, should I ever manage to come down, no scallop will be safe! I just love, love, love those, especially the little calicos, and the sunrise ones with the golden rays...but the white ones are beautiful, too, and the rough scallops are so colorful...oh, heck, I love them all!
What a great day you had on Keewaydin! I loved the Patreon walk you posted. I was first to comment there!
Sharmon, only you know how much this beach walk meant to me! From the bottom of my shattered little heart, I say to you, my Beach Angel, thank you! Much love from

I got one hour at the beach and was so thankful. I didn't get much on shells, but you would laugh I went on Fb market place and got a big glass jar of letter olives to take in car home. I was so thankful for the little fun I did get to have. I would so love to come and go shelling on day for a respite gals vacay for a few days one day for fun. I also never found a horse conch and was sad it alluded me. I also love the beat up shells and should have you save me some to use for cancer families. I use the med size ones that can fit as a pendant the ones that look beach and weather worn to make the prettiest pendants and am going to volunteer to teach a Class at our local Cancer hospital making pendants for women w cancer. I just said to myself.. Ohh she passed up a perfect beach worn shell for my pendant making I need lol. 😊. I could make you a few too for when you do your charity stuff too to send you back as well. I use gems and gold leaf and silver leaf on mine. And am going to make some too as a fundraiser for my sweet hubby who was laid off his job 2 yrs into treatment w the leukemia and then had kidney cancer surgery in 2020 and now A Rare disease Cushings tumor this last summer. Fortunately they live in such deep water that a live one will just never make it to the shore. I think the Shell Museum had an exhibit with a couple of live Junonia, can't recall if that was post-hurricane though. @@SWFBeachLife

Very nice finds! Wow, that tiny alphabet cone is so cool. They rarely wash up that size. How about that perfect rose murex too! It seems the false shark eyes tend to be higher spired and just have that different "plump" appearance as opposed to the low spired true shark eyes. Can't wait for next week :)

Just finished washing and bleaching all the wonderful shells we got. Unfortunately we brought home a few live ones. Whew do they stink even after bleaching. Any tips for this? My daughter also found a beautiful orange horse conch as big as you found that she gifted to me! Incredible time we had on keywadin island. It was loaded with fighting conchs. We took the ferry over first thing in the morning and stayed all day.

Bummer on the live ones 😩 I feel like the smell is their revenge - LOL. I have found nothing works to remove that smell except burying the shell in my yard and letting the bugs and ants do their magic. I have some "not so perfect" shells that I will be putting on my Etsy store eventually. Sometimes I get home and the shells aren't as awesome as I thought they were and I've been putting those to the side. It's hard because it takes me a lot of time to get the shells, photograph them, put them on Etsy, pack them up and give Etsy their share of the money. This is on the list of things I want to do!
