KEXP is a natural treasure. They've turned me on to so many great bands over the years. They're like that cool punk kid in high school that always had bootlegs of bands you've never heard of.
This is probably one of the absolute BEST in-studio performances I have ever witnessed. I wanted to experience the entire album in this format with all the KEXP engineers and everything. God they are so dialed in. I just love watching all of Missy's facial expressions moves and flourishes. They are just IN IT. The drummer absolutely holds it tf down like some kind of central mechanism in a machine that allows all the other gears to move. **Carolyn** really deserves some big ups in this as well for all the dynamics she adds (homegirl is just back there running three instruments at once while doing backup vocals). At one point (6:51) Missy does this scream and as the reverb is carrying out the final little trail of sound it gets picked up by something that Carolyn hits on the synth which turns the note into a drone and its done so well that the transition is practically invisible. I love Maxine in this band. She's dialed in and the riffs are super tasteful and she can still get heavy as hell. Bear seems like the type of dude that once he's in your life you never want him to leave. You can tell how much just his heart alone adds to this group...plus he can really crush some punk vocals. I dunno man these are real fucking people and they love each other its not just some band of interchangeable session artists fulfilling one front persons vision.
Wow! Her vocals are very impressive and wild. She has amazing range. The sound is beautifully mixed well. My hats off to the sound person and the band.
My 1994 16yr old self came crashing back into my memory asking in a daze, "WTF JUST HAPPENED?! WHERE HAVE I BEEN?! WHERE HAS THIS BEEN?!" Marisa's vocal range is under her command and she controls it like a scalpel. Their "I Got Heaven" album is a time machine!
It's here bro! A massive resurgence of that sound and even bands from that era coming back again! Some people may not like it, but I am definitely here for it! 🤘
Recently saw Mannequin Pussy live at The Atlantis in DC, and let me tell you, I am pretty sure that is one of, if not, the best show I have ever seen live. There was a part where we all screamed at the top of our lungs, and it was an incredibly surreal experience.
Holy fuck. I got shivers from this performance. Love the angry punk energy and sound. It's incredible how they mix that energy with vulnerability and softness at the same time. Best band I've heard in a long time
I don’t remember the last time I had a feeling of utter love for a complete album that I can hear over and over like ‘I got Heaven’ did for me. I’ve watched this performance like 6 times already! It’s awesome!
I could watch KEXP 24/7 and never would get tired or miss a thing. Your sound engineer is a voodoo master. No idea how you guys handle to get such a balanced sound mix for any band you feature. Big heart for the team of KEXP and Mannequin Pussy - you guys rock and it comes from straight from the heart… I love that!!!!! Love and light from Thailand ❤🇹🇭
A little Pixies, a little Henry Rollins, a little Minor Threat, a little Jello Biafra. Great concept, great songs, great execution, I absolutely love this!
Unbelievable performance, unbelievable band - every player in the pocket, indispensable. But also, major shout out to the multi-instrumentalist - just absolutely destroying the backing vox, holding her own, adding to one of the best frontspersons in rock right now - while playing multiple instruments, often in one song. MP, keep her in the band!!!
I've fallen in love with MP since I came across this video. I got to see them a few weeks later and they were amazing. I Got Heaven is easily going to top my Spotify Wrapped this year.
Wow! Her vocals are very impressive and wild. She has amazing range. The sound is beautifully mixed well. My hats off to the sound person. This band is the fresh air we’ve all been waiting for.
Just amazing im only 7:50 into this and im grabbed . So excited for the rest and think I may have found my new favorite band Just what the world needs is a rebirth off punk and this is it Come to Scotland please
This was the first band I saw indoors after covid in 2021. They will always have a special place in my heart. I have a ticket to go see them next month but it's the same day as my partner's surgery. Love you MP, see you next time
Been following you all for a while, finally got to catch you on tour in Denver a couple of times last year. Just wanted to say thank you for providing release, comfort, creativity, and community to all of us over the last batshit decade. Your music has had a grounding presence for me, and I’m very grateful. See you in Boulder on 10/14!
Ooooooh awesome. Really unique sound it blends into different sounds and moods. Really enjoyed it!!!! Thanks KEXP to introducing me to so many great bands♡
One of the best bands around, musically, sonically and by far messaging, stances, emotion, ideology,. Devastating live show. ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for always having banger performances.. shout out to the sound engineers at kexp

Love this band so much, that after seeing them in Chicago in April, I had to see them again at Chicago's Pitchfork fest! I was totally blown away by the energetic presence of Missy & Bear. Missy Dabice is a beast, a fireball of energy and a force to reckon with! She sings with so much intense passion and conviction! She truly is one in a billion! Love her and the band endlessly!
I love kexp they get some of the best bands for these performances and it's just so good. Iv been listening to mannequin pussy for the past few months... I just found them but they are so good love getting t to see then
The raw energy on display here, along with the excellent musicianship, performance and great vocal delivery... not to mention the righteous defiance... it's all bringing tears to my eyes!
i live in Philly and had heard of this band and probably have heard a song or two on WXPN, but didn't take notice...well, they have my attention now! That Heaven song is fucking ridiculous!🤯 I will be seeing them ASAP!!
Yes!!! Exactly what I thought when I first heard loud bark. Their ability to go from calm verses to exploding choruses, glued with a droning, consistent bass line, is so pixies-like.
I've heard this band name for a long time, but never took the time to listen until this video was suggested, and holy shit!!! I'm so hooked on them!! Great guitar tone!
The second half of Ok? Ok! Ok? Ok! sounds very Nirvana. Listening to Even In His Youth, and the verse riff for Scentless Apprentice, the day they wrote that one? Cool influence to have, though! Cool band, actually. Great live-and-direct, in full effect, songs! Thumbs-up! Go for it, Mannequin Pussy, and, 'Are you named after what Andrew McCarthy's character wanted so bad that 1987 movie?' I love these in-studio shows you guys do, KEXP! Deadly. Shines a light on cool, new, happening music that's worth your time. Way to go!
I Got Heaven - the title track. Oh my God! 10:29 I only came across this band today, and I feel like I've known them for ages. Live tech out of the park also (great work guys)...
Man... I grew up on 80s punk and hardcore, and this takes me back. So raw, so true... Thanks, y'all 🤘🔥🤘🙏🏻🤍 Change is inevitable, it's a sign of growth. Stagnation is death
KEXP sound engineers and mastering guys deserve some praise, the band sounds sooo good!
It sounds better than their studio released music IMO. very nice work
Praise that they survived that audible atrocity! That should be a crime to humanity!
I mixed that thanks a lot 🙏🙏

@@tr8d3r SOOO much this. The Spotify tracks are meh compared to this.
Fuuuuuuuck. This band feels like discovering music for the first time. I am obsessed.
Same ☺
Obsessed too
Best loud/quiet since Doolittle.
Philly band. Let’s go.
I think they are also discovering music for the first time.
Her screams are so cathartic, good stuff. This band rips
21:15 as well as a minute before~
KEXP is a natural treasure. They've turned me on to so many great bands over the years. They're like that cool punk kid in high school that always had bootlegs of bands you've never heard of.
I would also recommend 89.9 KCRW out of Santa Monica City College. Especially their show 'Morning Becomes Eclectic.' I have been listening for years.
I agree, but the phrase is "national" treasure.
Well said
Duh. Not being mean. But it’s one and only. Have you ever visited?

Same , thats what I said.
Loud Bark gotta be one of the most intense songs I've ever heard on my life.
Enjoying and contending with the vibes in equal measure.
Listen to PJ Harvey’s album ‘Rid of Me’ for some of the roots of that post-punk, female, emotional intensity.
Serious that version of that song gave me chills
I'd check it out, but I can't stop listening to I Got Heaven
This performance of loud bark changed my biology fr
Recently saw Mannequin Pussy live at The Atlantis in DC, and let me tell you, I am pretty sure that is one of, if not, the best show I have ever seen live. There was a part where we all screamed at the top of our lungs, and it was an incredibly surreal experience.
I saw them open for Japanese Breakfast in August of ‘21 and man that scream resolved a pandemics worth of trauma
Drummers great. Perfectly in the pocket with nice fills.
Agreed, fantastic tight drumming
Holy fuck. I got shivers from this performance. Love the angry punk energy and sound. It's incredible how they mix that energy with vulnerability and softness at the same time. Best band I've heard in a long time
Holy shit this band fucking rules. That first song is like a beautiful punch in the face

check out the studio album while ur at it
True dat… bassists unite!
his name is Bear and he is a lovely person and incredible bassist
Hoping you're actually in middle school not just stuck there mentally
Going to revisit this album again. Also, the stage presence from the singer is infectious. And that bark she has! Damn.
the lead singer what a f cking performance shes so alive during this I feel so inspired

Listen to Drunk II and In Love Again
