I really like how you do your pre-trip, around the bus. You explain very well and slow. But I just want to say that when you come to the Engine, your video camera man should have more light so you really see each piece or you can do Engine out side were it sunny. You did an really excellent job. Iam an New Boston public school, bus driver.
This is one of the best pre-trip inspections that I have seen. I'm working toward getting my class B CDL for school bus driving early next year. Question: I'm I allowed to go to a bus parking garage to visually see the bus itself and note the parts and components?
Thank you. We happily train our new Drivers/Employees here so I would hope the District you plan to drive for would let you practice or at least take some pictures. Give them a call and let them know your studying.
I want to get myself a my class B CDL for school bus driving someday i love a full size school bus 🚍. I drove larger vehicles like Mercedes benz sprinter van diesel was 23 feet long 10 feet tall like drive a bus. I drove penske 16 Feet box truck. And i drove a class c rv 27 feet long was longer Then Short bus Shorter than medium bus
Stick to your trainer's advice. We're told to group things like headlights, hazard, and turn signals all proper color, no cracks, no condensation. We don't do every single light individually, you have a time limit, and his way will use up all your time, so you can't go back if you miss something. Follow your instructor, video him or her doing a demo, that way , you can't go wrong
@@rebeccalucas6063 exactly! Listen to trainer is best advice. Our pretrip looks amateur compared to this guys lol. We only get 30 minutes for the test and this way definitely would fail us.
A few things. He's very detailed but missed a lot of things under the hood, partly because the bus is a different built and brand. The components are not universal across manufacturers.
Did you miss the Brake chamber and clamp with the couplings, Slack adjuster and Push rod,and you did not mention how to chack the Push Rod, you missed the drive train? Ese, you missed a lot of items that are in the DOT manual. I am in Texas and the DOT manual has a lot more items that need to be mentioned.
The items you describe are for Air Brakes. The bus in this video does not have air brakes. Please make sure the bus you test in has air brakes or you will not get that endorsement. Good luck on your test.
How r u checking though if their not on see we have to do the lights up front agter are hood compartment is done ??? Then we turn key on come back outside and check lights
This is one of the most inconsistent pre-trip I've ever seen. He didn't do any neutral safety test. I doubt it is a difference in state requirements. The brake test in incomplete adding to the engine compartment that is a different built
I love this pre-trip,thank you for the video!

Our buses are not air brakes!!!!
Thank you sir this really helped me.
The air brakes buses seem to be slightly different when having to explain.

Brad pitman arm I caught that lol
What state are you in? Watching to learn engine parts for PA test. We don't touch or check half of what you do. Thanks for this. It really helps.

correct me if I'm wrong but you did not mention the fan or the radiator
Fuse box, battery, and wire department outside driver side???
Every test is different for every state 🫤
I wish my bus had an AC compressor.
They do help take the edge off in this heat.
You need too check handle & pull down step
