Yeah I don’t understand why people think it’s a good idea to put their carnivorous animal on a vegan diet... it’s stupid and the animal will suffer from it
I remember that. I hate to hear that he ended up dying. I was hoping that she got it taken from her before it was too late. Poor little thing. A friend of mine has a fox but hes not a fennic I cant remember what he is exactly. But my buddy bought him from a swap meet. He initially wanted to release him back into the wild but he couldn't for some reason. His wife is a wildlife expert so I guess hes in the best care he could be in if he has to live in captivity.
@@PrinceFluttershy My cat will steal lettece and he has vegtables in his dry food but it's his choice that he eats them and he's main diet is fish, chicken and beef wet food with dry food and occasionally some brie.
The Rü from the looks of it this farm is either a sanctuary or small zoo. The stall might of looked small but if you watch the truck pull out you can see he's got a run as well :) not a big fan of the exotic pet trade of mammals and birds (smaller reptiles, fish, and amphibians tend to be more content since there habitat can be replicated) but it looks like this guy is in good hands
AHitAway actually an enclosure is healthier for them. A lot of fennec foxes can develop stress from living in the us, due to a complete shift in environment as well as the stress from medical issues caused by inbreeding. When given the proper enclosure there habitat can be replicated, the temperature can also be adjusted to match their needs reducing stress. Many people think that they can keep them like a dog but it can stress them out. The reason red foxes are slightly happier in a home is because once they go outside their climate is the same as well as environmental factors. Also wild animals often trust a certain human/humans due to imprinting at a young age, which is why it's "safe" for people to have wild predators when raised from birth. But someone new comes in and steps into a fennec foxes territory (which would be your entire house instead of a enclosure to themselves) it can cause your fennec stress and can possibly lead to an attack
hannah oh. Thanks!! Now I don't wanna keep it bottled up in a new home. Now I know unless you want to turn your home into a foxes habitat, you shouldn't have a fennoc fox as a pet. Thank you for turning me to the right direction. And dang, you've done your research!
I love Dr. Pol, but gotta say that you don't need to scroll too far down the comments to find the PETA supporters. Why not stop judging a vet and the people responsible enough to take their animals to the vet, and focus on supporting those trying to stop dog fights, shark finning, deforestation, etc?
Because PETA have completely lost their minds, that's why. They're more concerned about game characters having fur on their costumes and screeching "all aminals must be frees!" than trying to help animals that actually need it.
@@undeadladybug7723 Literally all PETA does, is for control. It's not about the animals, It's about the control in our society. They rescue animals then euthanize them. They also screech vegan vegan vegan AND deforestation, yet, Where are we going to get the farmland to feed the billions of people that need to go vegan according to them?
I'm sorry did you miss the part where the vet said the fox is 6 months old and has not been vaccinated? It's missed two rounds already. Real fucken responsible.
@@somacruz7759 i typically see it being called a cabbit fox(cat-rabbit-fox), it has got real animal influences but being the prevo to many a varied creature it really just is a small fluffy mammalian monster
Canine species ( includes foxes) can get distemper, rabies and upper respiratory infections from other unvaccinated canine species. Since this fox is not native, it would not have immunity to much here. Wish this clip included what Dr Pol found out.
You can have them as pets but if you own exotic pets you need to have an enclosure that mimics their habit. Helps to keep stress levels down. If I owned small non dangerous exotic animals I would probably train them to be ambassadors. Going to events to teach people about them and why they need to have their habits protected. Honestly though I have little interest in exotic animal ownership. Unless it's a rescue case sure but I'll probably stick to getting crested geckos in the near future.
There's so many exotic "pets" I'd love to have but I couldn't go thru with it. I don't have what it takes to give them the proper care, at least not at the moment.
I hope they have a nice warm place for the little guy to spend the winter. They are NOT good in the cold. Also, they don't make good pets either. Cute though.
Doesn't anyone think it's weird that Dr. Pol seems to not know anything about fennec foxes, yet he claims that the fox's temperature is normal? How would he know?
Curtis Neilson I've had multiple pets over the years, and all of them lived up to or exceeded the average life expectancy. However, my qualifications as a pet owner don't matter, as this is about Dr. Pol, a veterinarian, not some layman like me.
They don't keep him as a pet like a dog or cat, the Anderson's run a type of petting zoo and keep their animals in wonderful health. So there's really no need.
Well I haven't seen the full episode but from the looks of the facilities it appears the area functions as a small zoo. So it is likely that he has legal right to have possession of certain illegal exotic species. If that is the case my bet is the fox was confiscated from someone and given to him if there were no other sanctuaries close by to take it. But i did look into Michigan laws and you do not need a permit to own a domesticated fennec as long as you provide an import certificate proving it was acquired through verified channels. In which case he is within legal rights.
If someone or something attacks the owner and she sits there we know why. If her owner screams for help she will think well... remember that time when needles were in my ears and you did nothing? Well same case here hehe JK it would funny though I don’t know why
They belong in the Sahara and you all wanna kidnap them to your home? That's kinda selfish. The weather is totally different. You can try to recreate the environment but it won't be the same.
Honestly you just don't know their story so I'd personally hold back my opinions and trust that the people who are caring for them would know better than me.
There is a line of Fennic Fox's that are being bred for the pet life, same way as the cat was bred from it's wild ancestors. Fennic's if you do research have done remarkably well as pets, they adapt fast making breeding a line for the domesticated life rather easy.

What is the point of keeping a fox?
Fennec foxes are sociable animals and one fox isnt enough to raise. Its needs another one for company.
