Hubby is a diesel mechanic & we have an '03 6.0 f350. He said if you want to reach out to him, he's happy to talk to you & see if he can help. I'm going to try to get him to watch the videos about it.
We don't watch you for homesteading tips or car advice. We live vicariously through you and your family and your travails. There is knowledge and wisdom to be gleaned, for sure. But mostly we watch in sublime envy and marvel at how lucky you all are at this moment in time. Meg's smile says it all.
Homesteading is about this sorta thing. Never apologize for doing you! This may help someone who has the same issues. In my opinion, homesteading channels are about life on a homestead, this is life. Good luck man with the Excursion. I hope y’all get it fixed, for as little amount of money as possible soon!
I love your videos. What an awesome family. The way your teaching your boys to be responsible is very refreshing. I never miss a video keep them coming
Don’t worry about this being a vehicle fixit video, this is absolutely part of the homestead life. And I love fixing mechanical things, too. Great video!
Your lumber for the raised beds looks fabulous. You will find a solution to the vehicle woes! What a great attitude to problems you have! To see it as a learning experience is such an example to your boys. 💞💞
Ben i love how you try your darndest to fix things before you opt to have a shop work on it. you are truly a hands on kinda guy great quality in a man. im sure meg isquite proud of her man!
I bought a used 2007 F250 Super Duty Diesel pick up truck 3 years ago. I have replaced injectors, turbo charger, EGR, ICP sensor and a few more items. I did not know anything about this truck. Thanks to Diesel Tech Ron and his videos I am now a Diesel mechanic. My neighbors shake their heads as I am a female off the grid farmer also. My parents told me as a child you can do anything if you can read and follow directions. I'm living proof of that statement. Love your channel. You guys inspire me everyday. God bless you all.
You gave it your best shot on fixing the truck. The wise man knows that sometimes the best thing is to admit what you *don't* know & seek expert help! These are all good lessons for your boys!
Good to try what you can! Enjoyed seeing you utilize trees harvested from your property along with ingenuity to create beds for your garden. Not only functional but will be visually pretty to look at. The “hog cabin” is an excellent example of your creative skills at work! 😊
"This is a homestead channel, not an automotive channel." Except that homesteading is everything. Mechanics are part of it. That's your farm truck. Whether its a tractor, truck, tiller, well pump, it's just part of the package deal.
Not an automotive channel.... but I'm a mechanic's daughter, so it's still interesting to me. Suddenly all the swearing he used to do working in the barn makes more sense!
Our truck problem ended up being the NOX sensors. We had gotten into the 50 mph mode and was about to go into idle mode. When we removed them, one of them had the sheath burned all the way to the wires. We had to change both intake and outtake which was very expensive. Thankfully though it fixed the issue and we are back in service. Good luck to y'all.
Appreciate your experience as a novice car repairer......not textbook perfect. The important thing you are doing is teaching your kids the importance of curiosity, self-sufficiency and a good attitude when frustration occurs; important life skills to be learned from parents. Keep up the great work.
Never, say never or so my uncle used to tell me as we removed yet another part from his tractor. Girls don't usually work on cars, well they didn't in 1950, but I did. Small hands and long arms. Ben is great.
I think you better take it to the shop hope you get it fixed love your videos. God bless you hope you have a wonderful and a very blessed day tomorrow and I really hope you get your vehicle fixed
Hey Ben - we can commiserate. Have a Great Day ange Rover that would sometimes quit, especially when it was wet out (not often in Arizona). We had a wiring harness that looked similar with melted wires. Took it completely apart and separated all of the wires and resoldered and damp proof shrink wrapped everything. Still working fine 10 years later. I’m sure you’re going to replace that harness ... there can be intermittent shorts/opens in harnesses that really mislead. Diagnostic tools mostly expect the harness to be intact. Good luck!
Have you ever introduce all of the boys (young men) in a row. I can't seem to ever know any of their names and I'd like to. Thanks for the interesting diesel engine repair on the channel today. Still sorry to miss the 2 females on this vlog. Love you guys. Thanks for additional footage of the log cutting. I didn't know that was possible with a couple of chain saws. The truck doesn't sound bad when it ran at the end. God bless you all.
Ooo Eeee The man found the burnt wire ...the sneaky culprit of major problems ! Oh no , not quite ! You will get there. Meanwhile those boys are growing like weeds ! Y’all be blessed and favored always 🙏🏽❤️
I'm in my sixties and can still remember my father cursing on the weekend when the station wagon would not start My father very rarely cursed but always during car problems
So sorry that you are having all the vehicle problems... but I take my hat off to you for persevering with it for so long. Your chainsaw work is amazing - I'm still trying to figure out how you got such perfect cuts along those logs. As usual I love watching your channel - God bless your family and keep smiling!
adela Coburn ~ Same here! My mom taught me to sew when I was 14 and I enjoyed adjusting and maintaining the machine as much as I loved sewing! It grew from there to VWs and later computers.
@@TXNLaurenMcN That's awesome, I grew up in garage with my dad, he taught me about cars, my cousin and I used to build mini bikes back in the..dare I say...the 70's. It's important to learn multiple skills, it helps one so much.
Nicely done brother we try and hope for the best, I admire your persistence time to taker in. God bless Hollars enjoy watching videos and your family grow.
Good air, good food, good ground, love and freedom to run, play, explore, grow, learn and build...plus a bit of sunshine, soil, and rain. All seeds grow well in those conditions😊❣️😁👍👍👍👍👍
You should not apologize for showing life. That is what a homesteading channel is all about, life on the farm! I hope you, or the shop is able to get it fixed without much more time, money or hassle.
Awww man... I'm so sorry I had confidence you could do it. Lol... that first start up sounded like looney tunes "yeee-dah-doh" with the trills like yodel going faster and faster!! I couldn't help it, I laughed... gotta find joy in everything. I feel ya... we've been there, hope it gets sorted soon. Love the wood work!! Smiles and blessings...
Once that wiring harness thing with the bad plug is replaced, I think you'll be in the home stretch.... I love how you're using the chain saw to make lumber!!
You did your best. The old college try. Just don't let anybody have full reign over changing out things before discussing it with you. Listen to their opinion first and see if it makes sense to you. Good Luck. You have learned a lot.
Sure hope you get that truck fixed soon w/not too much money. Had to giggle watching your time lapse making the beds. Looks like you are floating just a little bit above the ground. LOL.
Ben, there is a Canadian guy that has helped out a lot of the RV guys. This guy can put a desiel engine together in his sleep. His you tube channel is Badge Everybody Needs One.
I was so hoping for you that you were going to find the solution to the truck problem this time. Oh Crap! At least you have really tried. Hoping you can get it fixed soon. On the positive side...you sure did wonders with the chain saw and logs!
Nice that you fessed up and gave such a good suggestion! I hope Ben sees your post! That might be the problem. He said he could look for another harness. Maybe they are too expensive.
At least you can say you tried, Ben. Good for you! I know nothing about car care and out of concern for my safety, I’m more than happy to have the professionals care for and repair it. 🥰
So happy you’re posting more vlogs even if short. I’m happy with nature and animal shots so if you want to fill out a vlog, I enjoy footage of chickens and pigs. 🐔🐔🐷🐷🐷
Just a little tape which you have in the barn and moon walk when cutting boards. We crossed our fingers too and share your disappointment. However life is always a learning experience. Trade wood done the old fashion way for modern diesel mechanic's time and parts.
Can't wait to see Garden Beds. Sure the are beautiful. Sorry about truck. A new Wiring Harness mat very well fix that situation. Seems like when it gets Warmed Up is when it quits. Which way the Harness looked could actually be the problem. Someone else's repair job never know what under all that Tape. Good Luck. God Bless and Peace Be With You All
Time to get that 7.3 in it! LOL My husband is a mechanic and we have done a few engine swaps, really not as hard as one would think...just time consuming. Wish you guys were closer I would send him over to help!
Milling your own boards is wise right now...the cost of construction materials is crazy expensive right now! Love everything you guys are about! Blessings🙏🏻💖
Did you disconnect the battery cable when you worked on the truck,if not try it now .my friend didn't and it would not run ,I was told that the ecm won't recognize and clear the old sencer.??? worth a shot
My 1998 Chevy s10 was giving me problems. The shop did a tune up and still was bad. One day it drove great the next it was blowing up plugs. Now 3 wks later the mechanic finally figured it out. It needed a new computer. I guess my baby needed it. God gave me a great truck, my first vehicle at the age of 50. Now I have it back again and running great. Prayers surely helped.
You vlog it and I'll watch it! Easily my favorite homestead family. 😍
Learning, repairing & and rigging is all a part of homesteading life. It's not all cute critters & good food. It's the good, the bad and the ugly.

I’ve missed so much. Love being able to pick up and catch up. Everyone has grown so much!
It sounds like a fuel/air problem. If it's starts and run a little, wouldn't think it would be electrical. Keep going, you'll get it.
I'm thinking the same thing.

Sorry, Ben. I hope it gets better. The lumber looked good. Love and hugs.
Praying it is the right part. We always had to work on all our vehicles.
We did too because my mom was a single parent raising 3 kids and we didn't have money for mechanics.
I think you better take it to the shop hope you get it fixed love your videos. God bless you hope you have a wonderful and a very blessed day tomorrow and I really hope you get your vehicle fixed
On the plus, you were looking for browns for your compost pile. Full trash can of sawdust!

These new computerized vehicle's can drive a person mad. Love the interation with the kids

This is part of homestead life. Learning. Thank you
Swapping the 7 for the 6 sounds like a great idea! You will get some good use out of ole Sasquash!
Would love to hear your boys narrate, they do great. Maybe give them more camera time. Love how they are busy on the farm. They’re like mini men.
Men in the making!
EXCELLENT way to raise children!
IKR. I was just thinking the two oldest boys are becoming men right before our eyes. Ben is a great role model for them to follow.
The freehand chainsaw milling is crazy stuff! :)
Hopefully you can get the vehicle back up and running soon, how frustrating!
Love the moon walk while doing the chain saw‼️😁

Time to build a Shop this year to work on your Trucks and Farm Equipment so you can work on them anytime.

I care. As a homesteader who has to work on on our own vehicles it's interesting. Or maybe I'm weird. 🤔 Yep probably weird.
Some of you good mechanics give him some help, he’s awesome at cutting planks, that takes skill he’s great at it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊

Replace that pigtail before going any further. It controls the fuel pressure to the injectors. 6E7Z-12A690-DA
Oil pressure, not fuel. My bad

Yes he sure does! I'm gonna get my hubby to watch him cut those logs up!
