Thank you! His quilt was always meant to be "use" quilt, not one so fancy you'd be afraid to wash it. His was used daily as a young boy until he moved out and it held up marvelous.
I just love watching your videos, I must say when that door behind you started moving I thought "oh my" that was so funny! Thank the cat for my morning chuckle. The two samplers are just beautiful I think my favorite is Miss Hunt. Really enjoy the history! Happy Stitching!
I love the stories with the pieces you have. I have lots of connections with my ancestors too and it shows up in the things I create. I'm so glad I found your channel!
I always look forward to your episodes and learning some history of samplers. I love your quilt that you made for your son. What a treasured keepsake that must be. Your Shepherds Bush pieces are gorgeous and the mats are too.
Love your floss tube and love when you speak a word of German. I was born in northern German and my Mutter was born in Hamburg. Love all of your treasures.
I LOVE your videos! I learn so much and get to see these antique Samplers as you take them apart from their frames!!! The best!!! I love how you educate us the way you do! ALL your videos are educational and so relaxing to watch you do this or that with them, and the patterns you show us, etc., etc! Thank YOU for taking the extra time to bring us ALL you do! Your channel is one of my favorites!!! YOU are a dear and loving soul! I also just realized you have a STORE!!! I didn't realize that! You should talk about it!!! Let us know to shop your patterns!!! OR "I" did not make the connection, I apologize!!! I can't wait to go there next!!! It can help support you/your channel as we shop there!!! Perfect!!!!!
So fascinating to watch you open up the frames of these old samplers. Love to see all your past stitching too. I especially enjoyed your son's quilt. I understand the emotions. Where has the time gone? And how did they grow up so fast? I miss the days when all my kids were home and little and the business and fun of their little lives.
Oh they grow up way to fast, it's funny even after all this time I still can remember their "soft baby smell" that is so weird. I do miss the toddler times the most, they were such fun.
This was so interesting and educational. I learned a lot from watching you talk about the stitching, framing, de-framing, tools, etc. Thank you so much.
So many lovelies ♥️ especially the quilt for your son what a treasure 🥰 love looking at your old items from past days….I still use a princess hoop my all time favorite wish they still made them…my favorite needle is also Piecemaker samplers 🤩😍 stunning….have a great week! 🤗🪡
Thank you so much for sharing all of your wonderful "show and tell". You have a fabulous collection of family heirlooms. Love to watch you open up those old samplers from their frames. "So satisfying" as my grand daughter would say. Will you be showing what you do to clean the samplers and how to put them back into their frames once they are cleaned?? I hope so. Need the "end of the story." Thank you ever so much for sharing Birgit!!!
"Ich bin die Birgit" it's my fav flosstube! I love all the notions you show, and your stitching from the past. Your videos are so entertaining and I learn so much about samplers and stitching. When the door opened and closed it was hilarious. I do have an antique italian redwork and now, that I watched your unframing, I think that I should unframe mine. It is mounted on wood, I suppose. I wonder how do you clean the sampler... because obviously an old one cannot be washed! The many squirrel's sampler by Ann Pratt is so pretty, thank you for showing us all the details. I liked the teaset one too! Your son's quilt is adorable and it made cry to think how much we love our kids and that we can communicate our love through our needlework!
Thank you, Paola! No, I would not wash your sampler, the old fibers are often not strong enough for that and many of the dyes were not colorfast. Gentle brushing with a small paintbrush works wonders. Thank you so much for your lovely comment 😍
I pulled out Ann McFarlan to work on while I watched. I love your past pieces. The matting is gorgeous. Do you watch Running with Scissors with Jane and Julie? Jane has a lot of Shepherd Bush finishes. I have two Duchess hoops. My 6” I inherited. My 4” I bought on Etsy. I use it most of the time. If you are selling your hoops, I am interested especially in the duchess oval one if the felt is good. It would be used. How many original samplers do you have? I appreciate that you are preserving them and giving the rest of us the chance to stitch them.
I'll have to check out their Flosstube! My antique sampler collection is really not that large compared to some. I have just under 100. I am always searching for more but they have to tug my heartstrings 😍 email me about the hoop.
There are many "about" Amish but very view made by Amish. I knw there is one at the MET (copyrighted) and some were sold on the market before samplers became this popular. I have not seen any recently for sale.
With each episode I am filled with such admiration over your care and diligence in preserving these treasures. Your sons quilt is a work of art! 🥰

Thank you!! I think she will a great sampler to chart 😍
Eye candy! I wish I can find the Amish charts

We got a sneak peek of the sampler out in the hall on the back wall. Is it one that you stitched or charted? Lovely.
Leave it to the cat being a presenter 🤣 It is an Adam and Eve Sampler slater for later in the summer this year. 😍
