i also want to mention life church has been amazing to me and am sp grateful to be a part of it. its just this particular subject is not on point with my belief. if you feel compelled to give more than 10% and habe it, by all means do so but if you dont have it, pray that God helps you put your finances in order either by removing any unnecessarily debt (need to buy unnecessary things etc) or by providing you with a a job that helps. whatever is God's will.

I am not against giving to the church, but no where The New Testament nowhere designates a percentage of income a person should set aside, but only says gifts should be “in keeping with income”
I am grateful that God placed me in a place where I am wealthy (as per your description). but i don't think an amount should be assigned.

Why 10%? there is nothing in the bible that tells us to give a certain amount.

Early church people actually gave everything away :) 10% is nothing

MrWackydoodles actually they gave something around 23% if you want to be exact. but in a society like today, living paycheck to paycheck i cant do that. besides these were associated with taxes. i am not saying not to give on the contrary if i can give 50% i would. but it is an incorrect fact to preach that people have to give 10 percent

Let God take control of your finances :) You'll be surprised if you honor Him with what you have, not just in terms of wealth, but time too. The biggest mistake I've done when I was a new Christian was seeing it from my very finite perspective instead of obeying what He says. Just remember that He ultimately is our provider, not "money". That perspective changed my life.

MrWackydoodles im not a "new" christian but i do put God first and always try to fond ways to help. whem i can give $5 a week i do, when i can give $50 i do too. my issue is more with the concept that many churches preach a set amt or worse yet, they say dont worry give and God will provide with the misconception that all pf a sudden you gave $100 and found $200 in you waahing machine lol. i think it is extremely important to give first to your local church and then to the community. but you have to have your finances in order too.

Ellie Fernandez You do present a valid point. But I think you’re misunderstanding the core of the message being presented here. While 10% might be the “standard”, it’s not about the amount that God cares about, but your heart. Are you giving with a genuine heart? Are you tithing out of gratitude and declaration that God is the one who provided you the job, wealth, etc.? Once you’re at this point, that’s when you can get rid of the scarcity mindset that the speaker here is talking about.
