- Two long, abstract "songs," one of them an edited recording of a 1968 Moog 3 demo by Bernie Krause. What is the origin- was it really ripped off? Is this album worth seeking out? Having on vinyl? Beatlemaniac Dennis Ball and electronic composer DROBOTICS spin this record and discuss it's appeal or lack thereof, fascinating and puzzling contents, and strange history.
Every Friday is Dennis Ball Live! We also have new short episodes all the time.

Short but Sweet! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks man! That’s the goal!
I gave this album a listen. I think at best it's a cool historical piece from the dawn of synthetic music. Really it's just a bit of plinking around. I remember making things like this when I first got an electronic keyboard. Now people just use UA-cam to share things like this but George Harrison had to release a record. It did get me thinking about the evolution of electronic music that would soon come after this. That was the best part. The possibilities! No wonder he was so enthused.
I totally agree. There was part of this that got edited out where I talked about him almost testing “what can I get away with”? This is an experiment, perhaps worthwhile, but really not for most fans. Pretty interesting that it came before abbey road, though
Very cool breakdown of an obscure but important piece of musical history. I'm not sure how available their music is (Wikipedia says her discography is mostly out of print) but Wendy Carlos would be a good subject to cover next, she too was a pioneer of electronic music.
Now, I have to ask, what is the appropriate term for the V-word? LP / Long play? 😉
Oh just “record” or “album”. Wendy Carlos is a great suggestion… maybe her album with weird Al!
I'm a fan of early electronic music and of the Beatles. Having just bought this album, I'm a bit disappointed. I'm torn between "this sounds like Morton Subotnick" and "some Eurorack kid is going wild on his modulation sources"... I think George Harrison could have done better, but maybe he was just overwhelmed by all those new sounds and structures...
Agreed. I really wanted to love this. I love George. I love electronic music. And if he had just made this himself, I probably would have liked it more. But when I read the backstory, I had a hard time thinking anything positive about it.
Edgard varese .
George stole the tracks
