The only thing that would be impressive about this guy would be if he actually became a world champion boxer, until then anybody could do what he’s doing and he’s arrogant too about it which doesn’t help.
But yeah, ultimately people will hate on you no matter what haters are irrelevant, and people shouldn’t pay attention to them. People have 1 million excuses go look at Mayweather haters. There are millions of them making excuses 24 seven. It’s not the respect of haters you should go for. I think most people can agree that professional boxing isn’t even remotely close to what it used to be. The 80’s and 90’s had boxing at its highest peak. The large amount of great boxers back then completely overshadows the very few that still might exist today. It’s become a parody. I can only speak for myself when I say it’s just not worth watching anymore. Thats just my opinion.
It seems boxing lost a lot of its popularity. The only time people tune in is when the best boxing stars fight. And even than I'd wager the vast majority of people don't know who Terrance Crawford is. They know Canelo, Mayweather, maybe Tyson Fury but that's it. But I almost prefer it this way. It's a niche lowkey sport that few watch seriously. That makes it more special.
The way I see it is the more great competition there is, the more it adds to its popularity. It’s like they say, to be the best, you gotta beat the best. That’s what boxing was like back then. It’s not like that anymore. If anyone wants to think boxing as a whole is great today, or even better than it was, that’s ok! It’s more than likely a generational thing. They probably weren’t around to see the greatest fighters of years ago. They have no way of comparing. I’m good with that! It is what it is!

@@hunterwolf6898 Yeah I believe UFC took a large portion of combat sports viewers over to MMA fighting over boxing. With boxing, you can choose your opponents, which is where this sport sucks. Where as in UFC - the business picks your fights (unless you're a star in the league and have some influence, though you're generally wanting to fight the top dogs or champions in this case i.e Alex Pereria who only had a few fights before a titleshot)

Guys saying he fights bums look at what any boxer starting career does . They fight way less worth opponents than even Jake has fought and those guys have 50-200 amateur fights as well with boxing in boxing gym since kids 😂 . Go look at your favorite boxers first 10 fights and tell me where any of their opponents went in their career . Enough said 👍 also you can really see the improvement in Jake way he don’t just rush in throwing hard shots . He’s moving up on toes flicking a tough jab . Setting up hard shots moving in and out . He isn’t just rushing in like a bull . Much improved!

Still working at that it takes years and years of training and experience to refine skills . Those mma guys also train to box they do throw punches in stand up. They would beat up many guys just starting their boxing careers in boxing . If you watch Jake’s first fights middle fights and that fight last night be it as quick as he made it . He now looks one side of the world to another different in his ability to box not just rely on power and overwhelming someone . Technically sets up opponent. His jab has totally changed his ability and movement footwork . He now looks like a true boxer/puncher . That’s the kind of fighter he needs to be with his skill set of speed and power for his weight class. More and more he fights and trains the better he is getting . Eventually I could see him taking on mid level guys in his weight class soon . As well as getting to point of contending for the title .
People are stupid. The only way they can earn Jake's respect is if he fights and beats the #1 Boxer in the world that is similar to his age and weight class. Which makes zero sense, as who ever that person may be would have so much fights and experience under their belt. Its like calling Khabib Nurmagomedov shit for the first few years in his UFC career because he wasn't fighting the top dogs (obviously not his choice).

Jake was physically and mentally prepared for the fight. Andre may have been physically prepared, but mentally, despite being a pro boxer, he was not prepared.

August looked overwhelmed during the build up. Think he had an adrenalin dump and got bunny in the headlights syndrome. But he didn't look right any time the cameras where on him. Don't wanna say he took a dive, but he did look very fragile.
