    Chris, absolutely love the production quality of your videos. Everything is so polished and well thought out. I’ve been hooked now and just started my road down doing custom LED projects. One thing I’d love to see you go over with your set ups is how you conceal and hide the wires and the power sources. If you could make a video around that topic I would love to see what you’re doing to hide these wires and bulking power supplies.

      Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Glad you are liking the videos! So for the most part with all my projects, I just shove everything behind whatever is already in the room. Might be furniture, a center media console, plants, portable electric fireplace etc. Unfortunately, unless you want to go the rout of knocking out some drywall, hiding things behind it, and repairing, options are pretty limited. However, I did make a quick video of something you can do in the event you have to conceal things somewhat in an open room with nothing to put it behind. Here is that video: ua-cam.com/video/ibRp6eeUwBA/v-deo.html Its not perfect but again, there are not really many options unless you want to go behind a wall (which I don't lol)

    Very cool. After watching your video about the Muzata diffuser and Govee M1, I got a set of each and made a DIY fixture that runs along the border between the wall and ceiling in my game room. It looks fantastic, and all the included options for the M1 in the Govee app are astounding. Thanks for showing me how to do it. The diffuser in this video shows promise as well. I have a Govee Glide Wall Light, and it appears like you could make a similar fixture out of these diffusers paired with a quality LED strip. Much appreciation for the inspiration.

    Another use I found for these is when I wanted a little more brightness and depth to my desk backlights. My lights I double rowed using one strip (folded back to go the other way). I would like to see how it looks with two different led strips in it. Specifically if it is still spotless with 60 leds per meter with the dual strips and only 1 strip being lit.

      @ChrisMaherDIY  Рік тому +1

      Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Thats a great question! I have not tried it out but if you have 2 strips in there side by side and each strip is 60 leds per meter but if only 1 strip is on, my guess is that it would still be spotless. I'm not 100% sure but I think the fact that the strip would be slightly off centere would not make a big enough difference. If you do try this, let me know and I'll do the same!

These would be perfect for that but I looked and cant seem to find any corner connector pieces (I'll reach out to the company and see if I'm just missing something) Like Jamie said though, if no connectors, I would try using a miter saw and see how that works. I've cut aluminum profiles before using a miter saw and it works great. I do recommend wrapping the part that you will be cutting with painters tape as that helps keep everything from moving around and helps keep the plastic diffuser and aluminum from chipping.

    Thank you very much for all your videos. I am working on a DYI outdoor project for under steps LED lighting, so it has to be waterproof and dotless. One run is 38' long and 2 steps of 13" long each. I don't think I have enough space for channel. What would you recommend?

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  Рік тому +1

      Thanks so much for watching! It would depend on what type of led strips you are using and how many leds per meter they have. There are only a couple led diffuser channels I have every seen that perfectly diffuse strips that have 60 leds per meter. The one in this video and the one in this one: ua-cam.com/video/1SKo_HdKVYA/v-deo.html If your using an led strip that has 100 leds per meter or more then you can get a perfect diffused look on a lot of channels. I really have not done a waterproof outdoor project yet so i'm not much help on the best way to go about that! But sounds like a very fun project and might just take some experimenting with different ideas to come up with one that works best!

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  Рік тому +1

      Thanks so much for watching and great question! For pretty much all my projects I'm able to just hide everything behind something in the room. Sometimes its a plant, center console, furniture or whatever it may be. Since its just sitting there I really dont put it in anything to protect it. However I know some people have mentioned that you could put the esp in a travel type soap dish. And unless you are wanting to go to the trouble of hiding things behind your wall, there are just not that many options. I did make a video that goes over one way you can go about somewhat concealing things if you dont have a place to hide it behind! ua-cam.com/video/ibRp6eeUwBA/v-deo.html

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching and great question! Yes that is what you would do. For that I usually run 1 data wire from the controller and then use a 3 slot wago clip to split the data and in the other 2 open slots of the connector I put the 2 data wires going to my led strip. It's essentially the same as if you just twisted all 3 wires together. Hope that makes sense!

    Hey Chris. Really appreciate this video. I have a related question for you if you have the time. I am going to try the V101 super wide profile channels so that I can use two LED strips side by side for higher density. I am trying to uniformly light a 9' x 6' wall mural and so I have a very long ceiling section that is going to need to be built up from several channels butt-up against one another. I'm concerned about the imperfect / gaps between the diffuser covers and the associated alignment causing lighting artifacts on the wall. Do you have an insight as to whether or not this will actually be a problem and if so is there anything I can do about it short of having someone machine a custom channel for me? Thanks in advance!

      @ChrisMaherDIY  Рік тому

      Thanks so much for watching! These will do as good of a job as anything you will find but you will still see hotspots. If you are going for a perfectly diffused look, you will have to use a strip that has at least 60 leds per meter. Now I have not tested this out yet, but since you can run 2 strips side by side in these, there is a chance that you could run two strips that have 30 leds per meter and stagger the lights a little. That might get it to look perfect but i'm not 100% sure. If I test this out I'll for sure make a quick video on it!

    Nice! Chris, I bought 20 of the ones you have suggested previously. They seem to work okay, but the mounting clip and screw are wonky and kind of a joke - the clip doesn't leave room for the screw head in attempting to hold the channel evenly. It doesn't seem to do it well. The screws included are pretty useless. I ended up not using either, instead opting for double sided 3M tape. I am going to caulk that joint and then our daughter will paint the exposed part of the channel white to match our trim. Do you have any other ideas or tips on those?

(i could be wrong but that's my guess) If you turn things to white and put it at full brightness, you will for sure see voltage drop happen with no power injection. If you inject power at the end It would be much better but I think you still might notice some drop-off in the middle. However, if you turn the brightness down a little my guess is you could run things great with that power source at a pretty high brightness with 1 power injection at the end. My advice is to always hook things up with no power injection, test things out and go from there depending on the results.

    Do you think I would be able to put two led strips in on of those bars but one strip has 30 led per meter?

      Thanks so much for watching! You could for sure do that. I did try putting 2 separate 30led per meter strips in this channel and it worked but there were still some noticeable hotspots so it was not perfect but it still looked nice!

    i would love to build a nice led set up. inside zone is 150' of lights and exterior zone is 150' as well. only issue is i cannot seem to find a programmable app or customization app for led's without using a wifi controller/ receiver like the one you use in previous videos. the property is a campsite there is no internet or wifi. only solution i see would be to go with cheaper led's with a hand held remote or to go with a blue tooth music controller. any solutions to my problem i would appreciate the help!

      Thanks so much for watching and great question! I hope to at some point look into what the best options are for this type of example because like you mentioned, there are a lot of reasons why someone would set up lights where there is no wifi. At this point, if I were to give any advice or recommend products, I would just be guessing as I have not tried anything out. At some point I do want to do a video on best bluetooth led controllers! Maybe if someone else is reading this and has experience can chime in with some ideas!

    I wish these didn't come to a sharp point for the corner. These would be awesome if you could mount flat and get that huge diffusion. On top of that the sharp corner might be problematic for some mounting. Caulk, weird corners and not straight edges will give fits in some applications.

    Could you make a sort of twitch of these channels buttered up against each other like a semicircle?

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for watching! Great question! So you can put these side by side and make a half circle, 3/4 circle or full circle!

      @@ChrisMaherDIY how do they look? And sorry I didn’t proof read what auto correct thought I wanted to say, “could make a short of two of these butted up against each other“ Is what it was supposed to say.

      @@Hoss_VegasTTV No worries! They look great! Lot of potential with these for easily making some floor lamps with this design!

    There are other 30*30mm 20mm v channels, but they're all just as expensive as this one.

      @Chris Maher it's fun. I started a bit over a year ago with the cheapest printer ($180) and just took delivery of a $700 one. So I guess you could say I ended up liking it 😅.
