Honest DUBIA Enclosure Review

- Today I do a review over the Dubia.Com 18x18x24 Enclosure. Dubia has the best priced and for the price the best enclosures you can get. I highly suggest purchasing from them for your reptile husbandry. Just make sure to go over the directions thoroughly so you do not have issues putting it together as I did.

Who is Sota's Exotics
Sota's Exotics is run by Sam Schulman, along with help from my girlfriend Cota. We are originally from Illinois, moved to Knoxville TN in May of 2021. Then down to Chattanooga TN in June of 2022. We still currently reside there. We keep many different types of Reptiles, Plants, and Invertebrates. But mostly focus on Captive breeding of endangered Turtles/Tortoises. Thank you for taking the time to checkout our channel
Read all directions first, I actually cannot believe you did a review video without following the instructions. It’s so simple.
“A lot of it was my fault”-all of it was your fault.
You’re not wrong !!!! 😄
@@SotasExotics the reason I watched your video review was because I had just ordered a Reptile Habitats enclosure. Despite your video I was excited about it. I received it 2 days ago, assembled it completely, sealed the bottom 12” of the enclosure all under 25 minutes.
The enclosure is much better than expected especially for the price. I recently bought and built my second Reptile Kages enclosure for twice the cost and it’s definitely not worth the money and wait as compared to the Dubia Reptile Enclosures.
@@nbruno121195 I agree. The cost, quality, and style is 10000% worth more than any other enclosure on the market. But there are humans like myself who can’t follow directions and get ahead of themselves. Although the specific directions for the cage I had could have been a little more precise in some areas.
@@SotasExotics I agree, directions could be better, could point out a few common mistakes.
The one thing I wish I did during assembly was silicone the tracks that the panels slide into. I would still seal the inside but I think it would be a reasonable precaution as well as keep the panels a little quieter.
This hurt to watch. These are so easy to put together when you read the instructions. Second video I’ve seen on UA-cam where the user is clueless and can’t build these simple enclosures.
this is the kind of person they make prebuilt enclosures for
I have 2 of the 48x24 enclosures and I put those together without issues and I just bought my Crestie the 18x18x24 and this hurts watching you put it together, I agree watch a video on putting it together and or read the instructions step by step. These are very nice enclosures.
Great video. You didn't say how much it is though, just that it's cheap. How cheap lol?
@@LukeMcGuireoides this unit is about $129 right now I believe
My 16 year old daughter assembled this terrarium with her own hands without any problems 🔨🙋
This guy shouldn't try to do anything with his own hands 🤦♂️
Should probably delete this video. Go buy another dubia enclosure. Reread instructions 3 times. Remake video.
It's helpful for people to see the mistakes.
@LukeMcGuireoides no, it is not. What is helpful though is reading directions.
These remind me of the Leap enclosures and I just was thinking they are knockoffs of Leap, but watching you video, they are different. The Leap cages have this folding origami substrate tray- if used for a chameleon, don’t think the bottom would leak? If so, that would probably rule them out for me. Thanks Sam!
Hard to say ! Definitely a great price and I’d say with a little silicone it could be leak resistant!
@@SotasExotics cool- thank you. The folding substrate tray on the Leap enclosures aren’t perfect- they leak around the top edges. And Tim, the guy who created the Leap enclosures, left the company. I think these types of setups have lots of potential, and I’m bummed that they just aren’t ready for prime time.
@@twoturtletom as you can read from my reply above, I just bought and built a Dubia Reptile Enclosures 2x2x2 for a crested gecko. Is it capable of being used as a paludarium-definitely not. Once sealed though it is more than capable of being used for a high humidity environment other than the fact that the top of the enclosure is metal mesh. I’m planning on adding a fan on top for air circulation and covering most of the mesh with acrylic to hold humidity.
@@nbruno121195 thank you. Paludarium, no, but chameleons require a quite a bit of misting through their system. You say “once sealed”. Do you mean sealing oneself with silicone?
@@twoturtletom yes, run a bead of silicone around the edges of the walls and floor and you’re good to go.
I just dumped 24qts of soaked leca balls and a little bit of water into the bottom with no problem. I then loaded in my dampened substrate and misted it down…no problem at all. I’m fairly certain this enclosure would be fine for your chameleon. I’m planning on installing a misting system in this enclosure and have zero concerns.
Is this cage big enough for a single adult crested gecko or should I get the 24x18x36 enclosure?
If you’re getting a single gecko it’ll suffice perfect ! But I’m a fan of bigger is better
@@SotasExotics yeah. I have him in a 12x12x18 right now and I have his enclosure packed full. Buying more decor so his cage will be ready when I do buy it
Hi! New viewer here. I clicked on your video to check out these enclosures but I love the way you explain things and include/admit to your own errors, which others might edit out. I like how these enclosures are made and I am thinking of getting one in the near future! Proud to be subscriber #681
Thank you ! The enclosures are definitely worth it. Just make sure to throughly follow the instructions they come with (something I didn’t do) and you’ll get it setup perfectly :) thanks for the sub !
now im the happy 682nd subscriber!!!!!11!!1111!11
Will fake plants with suction cups stick on the side walls of these pvc enclosures like they do on glass enclosures?
I’m not sure I have not attempted it, I’m sure they would
@@SotasExotics I have a lot of them in his current enclosure. Trying to see if it would work in a pvc enclosure before I buy one.
