Your desire has to be in line with God’s will (1John 5:14,15). Just because you desire something doesn’t mean you will have it, God knows and sees what we don’t know or see about something. Jesus also said: ‘not my will, but thine be done’ (Luke 22:42). Your desire is your strong feeling to have something or want something to happen, but you make request through prayer. If prayers weren’t necessary, Jesus Christ will mot teach us to pray. He prayed. There’s a saying: ‘ be careful what you wish for.’ There are people who want their enemies dead, and these are Christians or supposed Christians, but God will not let it happen because it is not his will that anyone should perish. James 1:14-17).
I agree absolutely. There is a very thin line between these desires & covetousness. Where material "wants" are concerned, God's will must be absolutely clear. The human heart is deceitful above all things.
