  • Real time recording of setting up and launching my Honwave T32-IE with Yahama 6hp outboard from the beach in Kircubbin, Northern Ireland. I found others videos really useful when deciding which boat to get and what accessories where needed so hopefully this video will help someone else.

    Really good seeing everything in sequence, and getting a feel for the time it takes to do each task, and indeed the amount of effort. I'll be launching a T38 soon with a Mercury 20hp. Thanks, Christopher! 👍🏻

    Never, ever put your VHF down or remove it from yourself when on your own. If you fall out, that boat will be blown away from you like the engine is still running and nobody will know you are in the sea, requiring immediate assistance. Safety first always.

    You would find it a lot easier to wheel the boat by hand if you put all the gear back by the engine until you are afloat. This make a huge difference

    Thanks for doing this video in real time and not time lapse, it really makes a difference. I've been deliberating over buying a similar set up, but wanted to see how long it actually took to set everything up. I am off to buy my new vessel and outboard right now thanks to your footage!
    I hope you caught some decent fish after your efforts :)

    Legend has it, it’s still trying to get on the plane! Nice vid mate. Lovely shiny Honwave. I’m almost through with restoring one which was sadly neglected. I felt your pain with such a shallow beach to Wade out in until you could start the engine. Tight lines. 👍🏻

    Yep, the headache of getting a boat over a rocky beach with the tide out ! I find it easier to get the boat down as close as I can to the waters edge then go back and bring down the gear separably, its a bit of a palaver but find it easier than pulling a fully loaded boat over the rocky beach. I trailer mine now so you will find a trailer a lot easier but then you have the added pain of finding somewhere to leave it as well as the car ! Nice place.

  • @paps69shed
    @paps69shed 4 роки тому +4

    Inflatable boats are hard work! not only do you have to set it all up, you have to get it back up the beach (hopefully brimming with fish) get it packed in the car again. get it home and wash it down, dry it and then bag it up again. All in all well worth the effort :)
    Most impressed with getting all that in a yaris lol... I've got a zafira and still struggle to get all my boaty bits in!
    Great vid! :)

    Soooo well organized. The set up time is well worth it when storage space is limited and there's no hauling. I've had a boat and there's also Lots of time involved in hauling and setup. I can appreciate the placement of all your gear for the sake of the video... Again very well organized. I would however place the heaviest items over the wheels when hauling....let the wheels carry the load 😉 awesome video. 👌 Thank you for sharing.!

    I'm a little concerned about you wearing Waders. From where the video ended, I seen the water was still shallow. In deeper water, it is possible to slip in the water causing the Waders to fill up and taking you to the bottom before you can get them off. I had a cousin who drown in a lake while wearing them. Please be aware --------

    • @Antti_Iltanen
      @Antti_Iltanen 8 місяців тому

      Sorry to hear about your cousin. 😔
      In this instance though, he's wearing an automatic life vest that'll immediately inflate if he falls in and will turn him face up in water even if he'd be unconscious.
      As for waders filling up, as they fill up with water they won't weigh more than water itself so they won't actively pull you down, they'll make it harder to get back above the surface.
      Since he has the automatic life vest, he'll have plenty of time to get out of the waders and to climb back into the dinghy or be rescued.

    Well, it's a working setup, at least in this super calm "lake-y" beach with negligible surf; once again confirm my decision of not getting another inflatable, and the toughest part is yet to be shown -- unpacking and putting the boat back to the car with all the mud and stuff at the end when you are already exhausted. I hate my porta bote but there's no better option still, boating is such an expensive hobby when one try to be just a little bit more serious. I hope there is a $10k solution to 17 ft, rigid bottom, pack-able on SUV without trailer, lightweight (carry-able by 1 man) boat... keep dreaming~ XD

    I will bet you $1,000 that once you unpack that inflatable boat and use it for the day, once you deflate it after you’re done, you will NEVER get that self-same boat BACK into its outer bag/wrap. I had a Zodiac with a similar configuration. Only one way is to use a vacuum pump to remove ALL the air from the boat’s innards. Only THEN can you even make an ATTEMPT to squeeze it back into its carry bag. Although, the COOLEST thing about my old zodiac was that it had 3 under riggers under the floor that made it corner like NO big lake boat could, even with a simple 40hp outboard motor. I pissed off a lot of so-called big lake boats with men who wanted to drown me & run over my dinghy with their own boats, but they could NEVER catch me due to my INCREDIBLY HIGH MANEUVERABILITY! In fact (I live in Illinois), & in Wisconsin on Lake Winnebago, I had an A-hole chase me in his big powerful twin motor cabin cruiser for almost an hour (my dog was aboard also), and FINALLY a Wisconsin D.O.N.R.’s (Department Of Natural Resources- basically COP BOAT) “pulled him over” and initially cited him for reckless endangerment, until they found out that he & his entire crew were SEVERELY INTOXICATED. THEY went to jail and their boat was impounded. 😝, ONCE IN A BLUE MOON JUSTICE REALLY IS SERVED. Hallelujah!!! P.S. ya moron, where is your 4’x8’ flat trailer that you could place the dinghy on and WHEEL it to the shore without scraping the CRAP OUTTA the bottom of your VINYL boat. You have ZERO common sense!

    How strong are those launching wheels? I bought a T32 with a 15hp Mariner 4 stroke but I use a launching trailer because I thought the wheels would have been to flimsy with the weight of the engine. Assembling the trailer is a bit of a hassle so the wheels would definitely save time.

      @@ChristopherFlannigan Put the weight in the back off your t32ie (tank and the other stuff) when moving it on the wheels into the water. I can pull my t32ie with a 9.8 hp tohatsu and all stuff in the back easy with one arm because the nose is much lighter.

    Im looking a the exact same setup. Has the yamaha got enough power out at sea for the t32? Great informative video by the way. Crazy it can fit in a citroen. Do you have a trailer for the citroen?

    That's a LOT of work. I leave my wheels down all the time on my RIB. It still is very quick in the water even though there is some drag effect.
    I would unwind the painter and connect it to a SCUBA backplate.
    Happy Boating, mate

    Nice video. What is the model of your radio ? Is it water proof? In my country these marine radios are three times more expensive than regular two-way radios. I want to buy one and setup maritime bands like 16 and etc. Do you reccommend?
