Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery | Title Announcement | Netflix
/ @netflix
I love how Rian Johnson is basically making his Agatha Christie style movie universe.
Yeah but so far they're really lame lol
@@pderham26glad you have your opinion. Sucks basically no one here agrees with you
@@runetycoon7436 Smartest Rian Johnson fan
@@pderham26What does liking a certain movie have to do with intelligence?
@@tico5058 Not always connected, but in the case of these movies, if you think the plot was at all clever, you're probably stupid.
Name it a Benoit Blanc mystery at this point
Seriously!
Blanc: itsss its so dumb
Netflix: its so dumb is brillant!
Blanc: NO! its just dumb!
I remember Rian Johnson said he wanted future movies to be called “A Benoit Blanc Mystery” but I guess Netflix didn’t let him.
Or a Rian Johnson Whodunnit
Unfortunately you can't. Some people still think of these movies as the mysteries with James Bond in them 😄
This is, so far, the best movie series Netflix has picked up to produce. First movie was solid but made by a different company. Glass Onion was fun and didn’t turn to crap after Netflix got their hands on it. This could be a massive movie collection by the time they may wrap it up
thats because netflix only picked up the distribution rights. they don't produce these movies and they don't own the rights. rian johnson does.
The second movie was not great, to say the least
@@M_k-zi3tnDaniel Craig’s accent was better in the second one
I never saw the first one but I did enjoy Glass Onion. Due to, I'm not sure what, maybe ADHD I dunno, anyway, Glass Onion was one of a few movies I was actually able to finish and I was entertained
It reminds me of Clue
@@makeitmakesense2616 Watch the first one its wayy better. (2nd one was ok too)
Johnson has spoken about being a fan of Christie's genre hopping with murder mysteries. Since the first was a fairly traditional whodunnit, and Glass Onion was a bit more of a sci-fi/comedy/satire, I had a feeling he was going to take a darker turn with the next one. This teaser suggests that's exactly what he's doing. I have a feeling it will be akin to Branaughs tonal shift into A Haunting in Venice, and I am here for that.
What parts of Glass Onion featured science fiction?
@@Largentina. Klear, I guess
@@taliyeth Yeah, no. Definitely not.
Agree on the genre-hopping, disagree on the sci-fi.
@@Largentina. Well the genre is a mystery whodunnit with other influences. For example, A Haunting in Venice isn't a horror movie, it's just horror influenced. Glass Onion isn't sci-fi, but Niles Bron's compound and his tech, especially the mineral that could ignite the worlds atmosphere introduced a bit of sci-fi flavour to it.
No way!!! I love Benoit, let's goooooo 🎉
Benoit.... BALLS!
@@batt3ryac1dI understood that reference 🤣
I need a Benoit Blanc Mystery where everyone except Benoit is a Muppet.
We basically got that in the last one aside from his accomplice
If didn’t even know I needed this until reading this comment. EVERYTHING is better with Muppets.
I already know Miss Piggy would be the murderer.
Rian explicitly said he would not do that because he did not think he could direct a Muppet film and do it justice.
@@DaviniaHill Yeah he also said he could direct star wars and look how that turned out
Its not just that Blanc is back, its that DANIEL as BLANC is back !!
well, should we expect a BIPOC Blanc next?
Here’s hoping Rian can do it for the third time in a row. I loved both Knives Out and Glass Onion so I’m on board for another hilarious case with old Ben.
I still think the subtitle should be " A Benoit Blanc Mystery" but branding won out I suppose.
Glass Onion Presents: Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
It's more recognizable
They should have done the switch in Glass Onion. Now it seems kinda too late. If there is more than 3 movies and Benoit Blanc becomes as well-known character as James Bond or Hercule Poirot, they will eventually quietly just fix the titles
This better be in theatres for more than a week netflix
The only reason it might be in a theater at all is to satisfy Oscar rules for consideration, otherwise it would not be. Netflix is a streaming service, y'know?
I saw Glass Onion the one week it was in theaters, and it was packed, and it was such a better experience than watching it at home later. Glass Onion could’ve been a phenomenon *and* made Netflix a lot of box office money. I really hope they learned their lesson and will let people see this on the big screen first. I’ll still watch it again on Netflix!
@@mtgiraffe Glass Onion was great in the theatre. It had such a classic feel, it only felt right to see it on the big screen with a bag of popcorn. So bummed Netflix got the rights and blocked a proper theatrical run, I’ll move heaven and earth to see this one in theaters as well.
@@DonoVideoProductionsNetflix occasionally releases their films in theatres, y’know.
@@mtgiraffewhen I saw it in theaters it was nearly empty, but it was also a matinee over at Disney Springs so I imagine most people there had other plans in mind. I'm glad to hear that in other theaters it was packed, and I remember reading that some industry analysts noted that the movie made way more than they expected at the box-office, even with the limited release, and that with a wider release and proper marketing it could've been more successful than the original. Maybe Netflix will learn their lessons and open Wake Up Dead Man nationwide? Definitely not, but we can hope!
Wake Up, Dead Man
Wake Up Dead, Man
Wake, Up Dead Man
Wake Up Dead, Man
Wake me up before I go go
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up inside
There should be a Knives out movie for every season. Knives Out is for autumn, Glass Onion is summer, Wake Up Dead Man should have Benoit walking around in a christmas jumper.
A classic series in the making.
I like Rian Jonhson as a director. He has a clear/personalized vision for his projects and manage to get across for the viewer really well. Some directors lack individualism nowdays.
But the real question is, will Hugh Grant be returning?
I hope
I'd love to see him be a major character in this one. Or just to see more of Benoit's home life, even though I know that's not generally part of the classic detective story genre.
@@shredd5705 ok but: hugh grant could be in it
@@nightshadesfunkyvids3812 Yeah, especially if this is going to be his "most dangerous", I figure his partner could be a used as a pawn by the villain
I love Knives Out. I went to see it in theaters mostly because so many actors I liked were in, Toni Collette, Daniel Craig, and Jamie Lee Curtis, but after watching it I grew to love it's style and the humor. I can't wait to see the third film.
So far all three movies have been named after songs: Radiohead, The Beatles, and U2.
I guess Rian Johnson really likes these songs so much that he decided to use them as titles for the Benoit Blanc films. Can’t say I blame him.
So, you saying the phrase "knives out" did not exist in English before that song.
Could be Daniel Craig's most iconic role that people will remember him best for years to come.
I sure as hell can't think of any other long running movie franchise that he's been the lead in. /s
People will remember Blanc but never forget Bond
Bruh what about james bond kid
@@ClassicTor Someone didn't read the comment right to the end.
@@thesilverblack708 ? The last sentece is literally you saying you sure as hell cant think of any other long running franchise he is the lead in
@@ClassicTor You didn't read to the end.
Blanc is back!!!
YES more Benoit Blanc!!! He's everything to me, cannot wait for this!
I told myself after the first one, they can make 10 of these and I will gladly watch every single one and enjoy it. Please keep em coming.
Already excited for the fourth movie, "Seven Nation Army".
Benoit Blanc caught in the middle of a civil war
The next one should be Buddy Holly
I would totally watch Benoit Blanc solving a mystery in the middle of a Napoleonic Epic or something.
Rian Johnson isn't tired. He's still got more kitchen knives to spare from his own deathbed.
“A Benoit Blanc Mystery” please
Apperantlly that's what Rian Johnson wanted to name it, but Netflix being Netflix decided that nope, despite the fact that the title knives out stopped making sense after the first movie
@@AdamDj-ic3kr I don’t blame Rian Johnson. If I was in charge of Netflix, I’d tell Rian Johnson “Rian, if you want to use ‘A Benoit Blanc Mystery’ as a subtitle for the Knives Out sequels, you can. What’s stopping you? I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t.”
I love Benoit Blanc and can't wait to see him in another mystery! I really think they should just start calling them "Benoit Blanc Mysteries" though. It's weird to have the title of the first movie appended to every single one that comes after!
The cast looks absolutely phenomenal here, so many legends and also up-and-coming stars
There were forty-nine Charlie Chan movies, so we could keep going with these forever, so long as Dan Craig feels like playing the character. And from all reports, he loves Benoit.
I was thinking there could be 33, because that's the number of Hercule Poirot novels, but 49 is even better.
Dear Netflix,
Can we start introducing the franchise or series as *"A Benoit Blanc Mysteries"* instead of knives out. Because it's annoying and doesn't make any sense. We don't care about the first movie we already past that a long time ago. It's time to move on. Besides Benoit Blanc already have a character brand, massive following, and a huge number of avid fans. So it's not only appropriate, it's also marketing wise.
Thank you
I think even Daniel Craig mentioned something like this awhile ago as well
I think for most audience The Term Knives Out carry more IP.
@@cyber_gypsygaming7452 Nahh...Netflix should start marketing it as Benoit Blanc especially if they're going to make more movies in the future. So audience or fans will collectively follow the detectives future cases/adventures. That way it feels fresh or there's always something to look forward to rather than keep referring it on the first movie which feels stuck and dated already. I'm not sure who is Netflix marketing team but they should definitely think about changing it.
Who's We? Many People love the first movie so much that's the only reason we're continuing to watch the rest of the movies. Glass Onion was okay, but the first movie can't really be beat.
@@justingantt9896love both movies but yeah the first one was a little better but I still think the glass onion was still excellent
Love this franchise. Cozy family night movies. Perfect.
Knives out - Radiohead
Glass onion - the Beatles
Wake up dead man - U2
Other good sequel titles:
Freezing Moon - Mayhem
Omg so excited! Loved Knives out and Glass Onion. Need a full trailer soon!
Glad this series is still running strong, it’s honestly turning out to be my favorite series ever.
Words cannot describe how excited i am for this, the first 2 knives out movies are some of my favorite films of all time.
Can't wait to see Blanc deshiper this donut. 🍩
The best mystery series ever… I never want knives out to ever end. Please always continue to make more. They’re all genius, it gives just everything. Amazing work!
MOOOOOOOORE NEVER STOP
Watched all of them. Wonderful series.
Make as many of them as you can with Craig and Ryan
Please give this one a proper theatrical run Netflix
Enter Benoit Blanc. 😍 Waiting!!
I appreciate this is a huge nit pick but why does Benoit Blanc say "in the beginning"? Knives Out was not his first case. He's supposed to be a pre-established great detective.
These could be like a clip from the movie
Where he's explaining what happened?
I hope there will be more of these, love the franchise ❤
WE ARE SO READY FOR IT!!!!!
Usually the titles are named after a song. Is this one a U2 reference?
I think so!!!
Hope not. Terrible song
titles can also be named after or reffered to a place where the crime will be committed. They can be named after simple phrases. All of which have something to do with the word secret which in this case the title of each these Knives Out movies do. The first refers to how secrets are like knives while the second refers to secrets are also like onions because of the layers. But this title refers to where secrets can be found and who doesn't keep them. The collection of Knives seen in the first, the glass onion in the second, and the blackletter font commonly seen in newspapers all represent secrets out in the open with the person revealing those secrets being a person who is dead because the dead have no secrets. It may not be coincedence they chose to name this new film after that song.
@@nickparton5663Great song...you've got shit in your ears so you don't have a clue.😂🤣🤣
Theatrical release please!
I remember people saying Rian Johnson can’t direct after Star Wars. Boy did those takes age poorly.
Nobody can direct Star Wars because the Director has to answer to too many other people…
Rian had complete freedom @@Salsa_Shark
He's shifted his career from a spy to a detective.
Not a huge shift tbh
@@MagicMonkey96 hmm
Funnily enough, he is still muscular and it's very obvious, even when they try to hide it a bit with clothing lol. Good for him though, maybe Benoit Blanc is a gymrat on his free time. Sound mind in a sound body
hell yeah I love that we still keep getting classic detective mysteries in 2020+.
Rian Johnson won't let us down. I just know it.
AAAH! I was so hoping we'd get a third movie! I can't wait! ☺
Rian Johnson finally got a trilogy lol.
Keep em coming! Love this franchise!
Already excited! 😁
Knives Out - Radiohead
Glass Onion - The Beatles
Wake Up Dead Man - U2
So excited for Wake Up Dead Man next year!
Yessssss!!! Keep them coming Netflix!!
They should do one about the ballerina case mentioned in Glass Onion. It could be his origin story
The last 2025 broke my heart😢
A Knives Out Mystery is still a bad subtitle, but besides that I'm hyped
even rian hates it but netflix demands it
True. Is doesn't even make sense. A Banoit Blanc Mystery would make more sense.
Then how will the normies know it's related to Knives Out?
Marketing 101: Always use Brand Name in Title
Pearl has the worse one tho
And it's only because Netflix is afraid dumb people won't know what it is.
I love this movie franchise!!! I hope it last forever. Can’t wait to see the cast for this and the movie❤
I think I know who the killers gonna be. If you think about it, the killers in the first 2 movies ended up being a Marvel Character:
In Knives Out 1 it was Captain America
In Glass Onion it was Ex-Hulk
That means the killer in this new movie will either be Hawkeye, Thanos or Sandman.
I sowed it before Rian Johnson did! 😃
Agree, it’s no longer a “Knives Out” mystery, it’s a “Benoit Blanc Mystery,” that’s who we come to see, and why we come to see it!
Damn, i thought it was a teaser trailer 😂
I didn't read the title.
LOVE the clock chime at the end.
The killer we be Jeremy Renner's character. Why? Because it's always someone who played a superhero who joined The Avengers.
Knives Out: Chris Evans (Captain America)
Glass Onion: Edward Norton (Hulk, in solo films before the first Avengers film)
Wake Up Dead Man: Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye)
Josh Brolin (Thanos) is also gonna be in this movie, so he’s another candidate. But so far, we’ve had Captain America and Ex-Hulk so Jeremy Renner is definitely the most likely.
Bring it Onnn !!!!! 🎉🤩
Can't wait!! Hopefully it'll be as good as the first one
Casting announcement when?? I’m so excited ❤
Set my Netflix account to notify me for this.
This is gonna be a one hell of a mystery movie and it was coming on next year
And once this is done, Rian’s about to take to the stars again…
GOOD
I can't wait for him to explain everything to us halfway through the movie.
Benoit Blanc and Hercule Poirot. These films make me wanna grab a good mystery novel and chill
Announce the cast!!!
I didn’t realize until right now that all the movie titles are also song titles
Part 4 should be: SHADOWS FOLLOW A knives out mystery
Can’t wait for the ensemble cast.
I was just thinking about when the next one would come out yesterday and now this
This is gonna be interesting. I wonder what the ensemble cast is gonna be this time? Or where the mystery is gonna take place?
Yoooo name it A Benoit Blanc Mystery
Now we need Kenneth Branagh to drop the next Poirot trailer and it is an all out Christie fest.
Rian Johnson did stated since Glass Onion that the next installment would take a tone-shift from the previous two.
Yes. Seems darker somehow
Hopefully the cast will be great this time as well: maryl Streep, tom hanks, Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain, Zach Galifianakis, Annie Murphy, Kristen Wiig, Bryan Cranston, Andy Samberg are the dream cast for me🤞🏽
Since Knives Out had a fall vibe and Glass Onion a summer vibe I'm hoping the next one is gonna be a cold gothic winter.
Glass Onion is by far the best Netflix Original movie
CAST *ELIZABETH OLSEN* She will be wonderful for Knives Out franchise.
it’s gonna be so cool to see jeremy renner playing the bad guy in this!!
Netflix, I’m begging you, PLEASE give this a proper theatrical release!
Most will remember Daniel Craig as James Bond. I'll remember him as Blanc for decades.
Most anticipated movie of 2025 right here.
So you're telling me you can go to bed dead and wake up alive?
The first thought on my mind xD
Word for word comment stealing
its a quote 😭
First this 🔍🔪
Second 🔍🧅
And now…🔍⚰️
It’s Private Detective Blanc to find a mystery of who was waking up a dead person? Find out in 2025….
Should’ve been called “Wake Up, Dead Man: A Blanc Mystery” because it focused on Blanc as a detective character instead of Knives Out Mystery.
Why did Netflix release the first movie on Prime Video and on Blu-ray and DVD, but not do the same thing for Glass Onion? I can’t wait for this new one to come out…😊
Netflix didn't produce the first one
I really enjoyed the first two. Glad to see a third.
The Knives Out Cinematic Universe
really like this genre of movies, like this movie series and the Hercule Poirot ones is my comfort movies.. i like how it all makes sense when the detective finally get whats happening.
the breakdown of what happened really is satisfying for me, i dont know why
POTENTIAL SPOILER:
Did you notice that previous movies’ top billing followed this pattern:
2nd name - actual perpetrator,
3rd name - secret victim with the most screen time.
Knives Out:
2. Chris Evans, 3. Ana De Armas.
Glass Onion:
2. Edward Norton, 3. Janelle Monáe.
I hope this movie will break that formula, so it wouldn’t be as obvious
I still think the series should be called “A Benoit Blanc Mystery” instead of “a Knives Out Mystery” but 🤷🏻♀️. Can’t wait to see the ensemble Johnson gets this time
Yeah, believe it or not, Rian Johnson was not too crazy about “A Knives Out Mystery” being the subtitle for Glass Onion. I don’t blame him. Just because it’s a sequel to Knives Out doesn’t mean it has to have a Knives Out subtitle.
Movies like these are supposed to be enjoyed in a cinema hall
Yeahhh, I love Graig in this role. It's a pleasure, fun ride and a great puzzle. And I hope for another great twist on the genre, which arguably the first one did much better, than the second one.
Wake up Dead Man Will be a Supernatural Zombie Movie
This is another reason why I am sticking to Netflix. Cannot wait, I wonder 💭 who is going to be cast?!? So far they have casted amazing actors who fit their characters well.
I enjoyed Glass Onion more than Knives Out. Janelle Monáe performance was phenomenal!
