  • Nathan Stodola from IWBI and Matthew Breitel from JB&B will be the speakers in this presentation. The presentation will be diving into WELL v2, categories that influence MEP design, key players in a WELL bldg. project, associated documentation and specifications, levels of certification, ongoing testing and maintenance principles, and a case study that shows how a consulting engineer implemented WELL bldg. principles into the HVAC design of the project.
The WELL Building Standard is an evidence-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring the performance of building features that impact health and well-being. WELL builds on LEED, expanding from building sustainability to advance health and well-being in buildings globally. WELL is administered by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), a public benefit corporation whose mission is to improve human health and well-being through the built environment.
By integrating more wellness into the built environment, we encourage healthy lifestyles. The business case is made for lower health insurance premiums, less absenteeism, higher productivity, and more. After all, people spend around 90% of their time indoors (Source: EPA).
While the virtual workplace is more apparent in the post pandemic world, buildings becoming healthier and buildings that make their occupants healthier has become a primary driving force of bringing occupants back into the commercial workplace.
