- The Civilian Office of Police Accountability on Wednesday released video related to a January police shooting in Lawndale that wounded a woman. The video shows officers take cover and open fire after a woman inside the car takes out a gun, according to COPA. The woman was hospitalized, and her condition stabilized.
Before the shooting, officers approached an illegally parked car Jan. 9 in the 1500 block of South Karlov Avenue, COPA said. Police ordered two occupants out of the car, while another officer spoke with the woman in the drivers seat.

When our girls received their drivers license, we told them to always pull over for the police and comply. We can figure things out later
And already have your driver's license insurance and wallet purse on the dashboard in plainview of the officer as approaches. Do not have anything that you have to reach into a purse out of sight. This will make them nervous and get you killed.

OK, from across the pond, after considering so many US Police shootings, it seems to me (I am sure this is not an original analysis but it is genuinely mine) that your problems might be: (1) The availability of guns in society; (2) The readiness of people to carry guns; (3) the resdiness of people to use guns as a threat or to actually shoot; (4) Poor training of police officers in the use of their guns; (5) Police officers being terrified of being shot themselves (NB A similar fear might explain why some members of the public carry guns, too); (6) A culture of aggressive - rather than concilatory - policing. (7) A psychology of profiling based on a few examples.
Any and all of these can be improved. But overwhelmingly the only way to really effect major changes is to remove firearms from mass-circulation - yet time-and-again the USA seems unwilling to even start that process. I often hear the consitiution quoted and people's rights. But, forgive me if I do wonder why people do not have the right not to live in fear of gun violence?
Nowhere is perfect; we have too many knife-crimes. But the thing about guns is their ability to threaten and injure / kill many people almost at once. There is not much one can do, even as a crowd, against gunmen(women), save shoot back - hence the police services you have. It is your country; you do as you wish. But it does seem so sad to those of us in the UK that so many of you must die and so many others suffer horriffic injuries. I am sure if we had your gun-laws, we would have constant blood-baths, too.
