I used to hate Kobe Bryant. But now that he's out of the league I kinda miss watching him play there is no other player in the league who is as competitive as him and plays like him.
As a lifetime laker and Kobe fan I wonder how someone like u feels after his passing. U should do an update comment. In football my team is the steelers and the only way I can put myself in your shoes is if something happened to Tom Brady because I've hated yet respected his competitive drive nonetheless be blessed homie we all mourning
And I say that knowing (assuming) you're saying hate just as a euphemism, but what possible reason could you not like the guy? Even as a player for a rival team, thats only 48 minutes out of a 24 hour day.
i love when he says this moment gives me goosebumps cause everytime before i step on the court i get mad goosebumps then the tip off comes and its game time baby
kobe is a guy that gives heart and soul to the game of basketball, he has worked his ass of to maximize his talent to the fullest and that's why he's able to make so many difficult shots, its all from his hard work. How can you hate someone that loves the game we love so much.
I find this video to be perfect timing with what's happening in the nba now. The Spurs and Lakers are looking to see each other in the western finals this year. Watching this Spike Lee joint gives me a sense of foreshadowing for what's to come in 2011. Lakers vs. Spurs. And I think the winner will be........
I would give my life to bring Kobe back . He had more to do and offer in this life that I would gladly trade my life for him to be here and his daughter ..love you Kobe and your family in this world the only thing that seperates us is time that's all, we will live together sometime in spirit where time doesn't exist but only love and that's where you are in the love of God and waiting to see all your fans and family .
and he'll probably always be first by a majority of true basketball fans, and I love MJ don't get me wrong, but I feel like that's more so because of nostalgic reasons and him being the iconic figure he is..but if we're talking about just skills like I said, Kobe's right there with Mike..
this is the best and logical argument I've gotten so far..and I agree with what u said for the most part. Kobe has this assassin's mentality that he feels like almost every shot he shoots he can hit, which is the thing people either love or hate about him, there's really no in between. But in his defense, he's played with so many different players, and a good chunk of them either weren't a threat or just flat out sucked. MJ's career was pretty stable as far as teammates and coaches go.
I agree Jordan is the greatest. His legacy is story book. That's something that's really out of the hands of the player. Kobe playing with Shaq is a reason tons of people will not give him the credit he deserves, it held him back from getting his own team built around him for a long time, stopped him from getting the stats that a 1st option of a team would get. He didn't pick that for himself. Jordan's timing was uncanny and is why he'll probably will be widely accepted as the greatest forever.
Kobe's actually a pretty down to earth guy. Multiple videos/pics online of him out at local food joints and shopping centers all by himself chatting it up with fans. And Kobe averages 5 assist per game for his career. Jordan is the greatest player ever and he averaged 5 assist per game for his career. I don't see what the big deal is...and search kobe passing highlights on youtube, you'll see he's actually a phenomenal passer.
I agree 100% mate...u didnt got a chance to watch MJ since he was a player, wit that i can see that u r younger guy,but its good to have tapes of that TITAN (MJ),I was gettin up in 3am to watch his magic and Im watched like Im hipnotized, and when Kobe came, his first session Im noticed that he will be the next best man who play the game, and he reminds me on MJ even today, not LeBron, not DWade, but HE,Kobe Bean Bryant...nice list :)
I love it how when Phil Jackson goes through all the plays in the locker room no one seems to be listening, its like one of those boring lectures u get in uni
When MJ did force things it was with his athleticism most of the time and it was unmatched by anyone even today. He took off from further and jumped higher and had the greatest body control in the air. Kobe has great footwork. The best we have seen since MJ, but MJ was the best defender of his time, which is attributed to his footwork being the best we've seen. What Kobe and MJ have in common is that they have no weakness in their game. You can only say that about those two. But, MJ excelled.
Similar to my top 5. I have: 1.) Jordan - he's just the clear cut greatest when you factor in every aspect. 2.) Magic - he effected the game with the pass like we've never seen, and probably will never see again. 3.) Kareem - he has the greatest individual total stats and awards. 4.) Kobe - his all around game is near perfection, stats, championships, etc. I have him leap frogging Kareem and Magic with another championship and/or stacking his totals stats up a bit more. 5.) Russell - 11 rings!
Very good point. Kobe did have his own team after Shaq and Phil left and that didnt quite work out until Phillp J came back. Kobe had a terrible team but you have to make the most with what you have. Hell, Kevin Garnett got to the Western Semis with the wolves and Iverson got to the finals with a bag of chips. No disrespect to kobe but to quote Rocky V " As long as they've got Balboa (Jordan) on the brain he'll always be champ. The man fought wars in the ring!"
Nice of Spike to make kobe's 61 and other great knick performances about him in the first two minutes of the documentary. I mean we all know all great documentary film makers make it about themselves :-/.
The Pistons and Celtics were established teams that won titles of their own during Jordan's early years.Jordan had a decent team and still managed to make playoffs . When Kobe won his first 3 rings they were against Indiana (Reggie Miller,Jalen Rose), Philly (AI, Dikembe), and New Jersey (Jason Kidd,Kenyon Martin) and that was WITH Shaq. Jordan's first 3 rings were against the Lakers (Magic,Worthy), Portland (Clyde,Robinson), and Seattle (GP, Kemp). Jordan also got the finals MVP in all-----
the reason people hate kobe is because of you arrogant&stubborn attitude.....other than that he is a great player. He will go down as one of the best players of all time. top 10.
it's funny I was just talking to someone about assists the other day. People may forget that in order to get an assist, the player u pass it to has to hit the shot. So if Kobe was to pass it to wide open players all night and they miss and he ends up with like 3 assists and like 30 something points, the average fan will call him a ballhog. Also, he plays SHOOTING guard, his role is too take shots. His career average is right at 5 assists a game, that's about right for a SG.
This is my opinion, and this is what I truly belive- If i had to put the starting 5 of MY dream teamto win any game i would choose these guys 1) Michael Jordan (Favorite Bball player ever) 2) Kobe Bryant (3rd favorite bball player ever) 3) Steve Nash (2nd Favorite player ever) 4) Allen Iverson (4th player favorite ever) 5) ( Believe it or not) Amare Stoudemire, ONE of my favorites, but not in my top 5, but he would be in there for his defense, and him and nash are an amazing combo!!
People who did not witness the Magic era will always praise Jordan over Magic. It happens over and over as the eras change. No man alive has seen all eras of basketball.
Who’s here tryna remember and reminisce in all the moments😓

@@slowpoke96Z28 I think the colorado incident was the reason. but we all know he was innocent
God Bless the memory and legacy of my brother Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant is a great player and will go down as one of the top players to ever play, even haters acknowledge and respect that.
just to hear him be a true leader on the court is the nail in the coffin for him being the best player in the league of this generation
Love Kobe’s commentary. It’s cool to listen to him talk about the game 👍

I love this Black Mamba
kobe the best
07-08 when we acquired Pau is when he won his 1st (and only) MVP... That same year we lost to Boston in the Finals.
It's called respect !! ;)

that's a bad boy right there!
There will NEVER be another ME or YOU
I would have loved to see a Michael Doin' work documentary in his prime
It's not about who's #1 or #2 or #3 but who deserves respect.
I love it how when Phil Jackson goes through all the plays in the locker room no one seems to be listening, its like one of those boring lectures u get in uni
Oh god I miss Phil. Phil is the spirit of Kobe and Kobe is the spirit of Lakers.
KOBE VII ELITE FTW!
This is amazing, for the first time in his life, Spike lee was able to complete a first grade level sentence, without stuttering 19 times,

@MarcusKiner tha's probabaly the most accurate comparasion of the three of them that I've ever heard. Nice.
