Good for you on exploring different genres. Caifanes is definitely the best Spanish rock band and they’ll become one of your favorites if you keep listening to them. “Aquí no es así”, “Afuera”, “Antes de que nos olviden” are ones you have to hear. ✌️
I always tell my friends from a different country that Mexico is not only mariachi and the Mexican bands that always classified us, we also have good music like rock bands!!!
The beauty of Caifanes is that they grab different sounds from all of Mexico. In this one the combined a mariachi style sound in the song specially in the end. But they have done the same with songs like "Piedra" (Stone) where they grabbed Banda, a genre of music that it's famous in the northern side of Mexico. Or in "Afuera" (Outside) where they do a solo with prehispanic percussion. And so on, from the southern part of Mexico, Northern, Center and even from the past! The lyrics are also a highlight because in latin America there's a genre in literature called "magic realism" is really prevelant, where they grab normal things from real life but write them in a magical way, like if it's something from a magical realm. So, Caifanes's lyrics are a lot like that, describing things like death, life, freedom, grief in these different ways, like for example in "Aquí no es así" (Here is not like that) where they talk about how the Spain Conquerors came to invade holy lands during the Spanish conquest, but they never say the word "Spain" or "Conquerors" they just say that their cold nature from their land doesn't go along with the climate of this land, that maybe for them the stones they are stepping on the ground could be altars for lost souls. It's pretty abstract, but hey, that's latinoamerica's way of writing. Or at least one of the favorites.
The song talks about a couple and, like everything in life, there are ups and downs, but despite everything, they are together, through thick and thin. That sometimes they would like to leave the other, but they love each other too much that they cannot. So together they make a huge team and nothing can stop them. "We are a cell that explodes and that you can't stop it”. Basically, that's the song. Yeah, a master piece
It's a song about how the singer went through drugs and substances addiction and was able to recover. It has a different meaning and tend to be seen as a sadlove story... but the meaning is way deeper
Hispanic rock is rock has a lot of bands Caifanes (Mexico) Soda Stereo( Argentina), Heroes Del Silencio( Spain ), Rata Blanca ( Argentina metal band), Mago de Oz ( Spain metal), Kraken (Colombia metal ), Mana (Mexico)etc. Fun fact Soda Stereo has the record of assistance of any band or artist in Latin America and Spain with more than 1,000,000 people, averaging more than 50,000 viewers per show in 2007.
I ended up here listening to zoe and somehow got to watching these reaction videos and im really happy that you made this video, i never knew these reaction videos were being made. This band is awesome, their music is very unique and emotional. They were caifanes and then changed their name to jaguares. To me personallly one of the best in mexico and one of the best voices ive ever heard. All of their music is good, A donde vamos a ir and Hasta morir are good too, all of it actually lol if youre looking for other bands, Fobia, Zoe, maldita vecindad, maná and lucybell are good too
That “something with someone” he sings about is drugs. Good thing is he quit cold turkey not long after this video was released and got his shit together. His name is Saul Hernandez and he has another dope ass Mexican rock band called “Jaguares.” They have some great songs. I recommended from them “Jaguares - La Vida No Es Higual.” The singing and instrumentals are very interesting. And yes that’s a xylophone.
if you liked this band look into Soda Stereo, Hombres G, Genitallica, molotov, el tri, Maldita vecindad, mana, enanitos verdes, heores del silencio, cafe tacuba, los fabulosos cadillacs

If you liked that, you need to react to "Maldita Vecindad"... that's another Mexican rock band... songs like Kumbala, Pachuco, Solin, Gran circo... I know you'd love it.

DROPKICK Chester, you’re right. But the next one, the 3th and the 4th and last album “El nervio del Volcán” are even more prog. But still, a perfect mixture of Rock and mexican folklore
This is from their second album, "El Diablito". They were compared to the Cure a lot after their first album. Which is a great record but heavily influenced by new wave and post punk. Their second album was completely different. It included not only prog rock styles but also psychedelic and Mexican folklore. What's interesting is that they only made 4 records and all 4 are very different... and very good.

The lirycs from the song are reffering to the drug addiction Saul Hernandez (lead singer) faced and struggled during that time.. usually lyrics tend to be confused with some kinda lovehate relationship between a couple.. but knowing the reason behind the lyrics, helps to identify the deep meaning
