    Well done video. One trick I've done to get a more dramatic color change is to print multiple copies at the same time. Fill up the build plate and you'll see more color change -- and have more things...

    another reason why transition length is good to know is that depending on slicer settingz you can drastically change how much filament a modal will use.

    been 3d printing for only a few months and i decitry giantarm filament they had a very nice silk blue . to my amazement the print came out perfect and the color was spot on. tried a silk gold color two weeks later and had same results . this filament compony seems to make good quality filament at a great price ! I will continue to try different colors, i hope they dont disappoint !

    If you're doing a multi print you could do those prints where there are long lengths before transition and get quick color change.

    This was super helpful, thanks so much! I'm printing a dragon with Sunlu's 3D printing filament (I'd already ordered and received it before finding this video), and while the filament has been very easy to use, the color shift has been much more gradual than I anticipated or wanted, so I'm definitely going to retain this video for my own use and to help others with.

    Excellent video! This has helped me a lot! I always forget about transition length when buying. So far I have printed in Eryones metalic Silk pla and it's so pretty! But, I had to print three objects to get though one full transition. They were small and totally adorable. I have 2 more (One non metallic rainbow and cookie cads mermaid) to print something fun with.

    That vase with the lattice on the outside that was the smooth transition, can you tell me what brand and color that was? I love it, you held up the spool for a few seconds but even blowing it up I cannot read the label (it's a blue label with white text on a clear roll if that helps). Thanks

    The slicer also shows you how many meters of filament you will use for print. Then you can determine how many transitions you will get in your print for the specific school or filament.🤔

    great video, the peacock silk pla, what was your settings? i have tried multiple silk PLA and they all have been nightmares to work with. no amount of setting changes can get them to print half normal. i am almost giving up on silk PLA. i havent tried the one you mentioned. the OVV3D 3D Printer Filament, Tri-Colors PLA Filament 1.75mm, Coextrusion Silk PLA was by far the worse experience with silk PLA, i almost tossed my ender 3 pro out the window.

    I am thinking of buying a tri-color filament for a robot that is supposed to be chrome but I thought it would look nice in shades of gold, silver and copper. Assuming you are looking at a 3d cube, would the tri-color appear to be (for example) gold on top, copper on the side and silver on the front? Or would it appear to be a solid color and transition from gold to silver to copper as your rotate it?

    Be careful when it says color change. Sometimes it's temperature color change like a mood ring. I got one that prints green but if you hold it in your hand to warm it, it will turn yellow (also prints yellow since its hot but changes to green when the print is completed and cools)

    • @mszoomy
      @mszoomy 2 роки тому

      @@FilamentStories it's very confusing especially since there are so many companies selling filament and they don't all agree on what to call it. And "rainbow" is a term a lot of them use and I don't think they know what that means.

    • @FilamentStories
      @FilamentStories 2 роки тому +1

      @@mszoomy I agree with you on the overuse of the term “rainbow”. I suspect it’s because it's so it will show up in search results, even though it's inaccurate for a lot of the filaments. I use the word in searches for anything I’m trying to find that’s more than one color myself.

    • @mszoomy
      @mszoomy 2 роки тому

      @@FilamentStories lots of stupid irrelevant words get used in titles and descriptions for that reason. It started way back inbebay days. Amazon wasn't too bad until they started letting everyone and their brother in China sell on their platform. It's VERY irritating

    I hated Ziru, the color was HORRID! Ugly, not even remotely rainbow and nothing like what was pictured, it was fall colors, oranges, gold's, a little brown. NO purple, blue, pinks or true reds, worst roll of "rainbow" I've ever bought and I took into account that colors look different in person than in a screen image but this stuff was bad, they left off half the color spectrum, and the colors were dull and muddy and that was before printing. Customer service sucked, wouldn't replace the roll, I'm glad I bought it through Amazon
