So how often do you do a standing start 0-150? I never do, however I often accelerate hard rolling onto an onramp or out of a turn, which usually happens at say 60km/h and above, and then the FWD has no problem putting it's power down and is thus 'faster'. Not that I care as such, point being is that FWD is functional for real world enthusiastic use most of the time, and you only have advantage of 4wd in specific circumstances which is the easier, safer alternative, but also a bit more boring because of it.
Only way the st wins is from a standing start, the fwd is faster everywhere else, my 2020 290 beats my brothers 2017 golf r every single time except a standing start.

0-150 km/h FWD has no chance. 150 and up FWD compensates traction deficites. In most daily situations AWD has an advantage in fast acceleration.
