Hub and Garth are blood brothers. And brothers through war. That is bond most people will never experience one way or the other. If you have experienced it though, nothing else compares.
Another that I think you’ll really enjoy: “October Sky” ~ Jake Gyllenhaal’s first starring role…also features Chris Cooper and Laura Dern. An excellent film 👍🏻
Its a very charming movie and can't wait to show my own nephew when he gets older to appreciate it. Garth and Hub very much remind of me of own grandfather, and can only assume its a generation thing. But people really lived crazy tough lives back then. From the wars, depression and working every random job to raising happy successful children. The stories he told seemed unbelievable and always had a good sense of humor about everything.
Hub's speech, the part we heard anyway, was fantastic. Some things are just worth believing in, That only worked coming from Hub, after everything he had been through.
THANK YOU for reacting to this! It deserves SO MUCH MORE love than it gets! Other people have pointed out that the actor for kid Walter is the actor for the kid from The Sixth Sense, so I'm going to mention that the same kid ALSO is the voice actor for the main character (Sora) from the franchise Kingdom Hearts!
A positively great movie that all ages can enjoy. Plus any movie that stars one of the greatest actors of the past 60 years ( and this is no slight to Michael Caine), Robert Duvall is a priceless gem. From Boo Radley in Mockingbird to M*A*S*H to Godfather 1 and 2, to Apocalypse Now, The Great Santini, Tender Mercies (Oscar), to Open Range. My favorite role was The Apostle which you should review if only for his acting as a complex, troubled man.
Great Reaction to this Overlooked Classic....... I own multiple copies and watch it couple times a year..... Michael Caine and Robert Duvall have great and believable chemistry as brothers..... Haley Joel Osment also played in "Forest Gump," "The Sixth Sense," "Artifical Intelligence," "Pay it Forward" (another great overlooked movie), Kyra Sedgwick (Married to Kevin Bacon) starred in a TV called "The Closer"
When that movie came out I worked in a hospital. Late one shift a nurse came up laughing. One of her nurse friends who was usually stern, during this busy shift came up behind my friend and whispered…I see STUPID people. They’re everywhere 😂😂
Haley Joel Osment is the kids name. You think he was good in this movie, you really need to watch the Sixth Sense. He was a few years younger and absolutely smashed this roll!
New sub. This is an old favorite. Since you like TV series here are a few you might like; "The Good Place", "Firefly" and "Person of Interest". Good job on this one. It does take a man to turn boys into men.
He shared a story once about how Robert Duvall kept hitting him in the face, because he thought the guy was a stuntman who knew how to take it. And then Duvall yelled at the director for not correcting him earlier.
This really an underrated gem!!! This film definitely reminds me so much of Nanny McPhee and Nanny McPhee Returns, a double feature that I highly recommend!! Another film starring Haley Joel Osment that I highly recommend is Disney’s Country Bears!! 👦🏼👴🏻🧓🏻🦁
So glad to see someone reaching to this! One of my favorite movies growing up.
Same! A childhood favorite.
I love this movie, it's so underrated.

Glad you found this one, upside down through the barn.
One of my absolute favorite movies. And I still cry at the ending every time.
The line about "protecting her cub" makes me WEEP

This is one of those movies I'm really surprised isn't trending for reactions, another one is "Arthur" (1981).
One of my faves of ALL TIME. Speaks to people who love all genres

I absolutely love this movie.
Thanks for reacting to a wonderful hidden gem that gets very little attention these days. Superhero movies are plentiful but not these ones.
One of my favorite lines in movie history there just dumb kids Hub dont kill them
One of my absolute favorites!!! Ty so much for reacting to it!!!
You should watch the alternative ending to this movie. Great reaction. Much better movie than the crap Hollywood cranks out now.
Thanks for reacting to this gem. But why so much disbelief that 2 straight single guys choose to live together?
the boy in this movie is Haley Joel Osment another film of his was The Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis
Definitely one of my favorite hidden gems. Highly recommended and I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
This is my go-to comfort movie. My #1 favorite of all time. Thanks for taking a good look at it.
Young Walter ~ Haley Joel Osment…also starred in “The Sixth Sense” and “Forrest Gump”…you did “The Sixth Sense” a year ago. “I see dead people” 🙂😉
When that movie came out I worked in a hospital. Late one shift a nurse came up laughing. One of her nurse friends who was usually stern, during this busy shift came up behind my friend and whispered…I see STUPID people. They’re everywhere 😂😂

👍
Since you really liked this movie, you should check out "Field of Dreams" from 1989 with Kevin Costner.
If you think the boy was a good actor, you should see him in The Sixth Sense. Great movie. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you react to it.
❤❤❤❤❤
