Srirlingkit says "Hello Thomas, I will change your discount into 16% off. it's sitewide valid. any of your fans who place the order leave a note "Thomas" will get 5% cashback of the whole order. this is only valid before December 31th 2024." So as I understand it, use discount code"thomas15" for 16% discount before Xmas, add a note "thomas" too :)
Tried again and tried to take the shipping insurance off...$15.50...and that failed. The only away I can buy it is WITH the insurance. So back to $330 US It appears the site remembers everything you do..... Perhaps you can try via someone else's computer/computer address and see what gives..... I'd rather see that 5% "cashback" taken off before I pay for it......I can't see how that cashback will work with international/credit card payments?
Hmmm, that sucks...do try a few things. Like all modern retailers, they will try a few tricks, but...if all else fails email their support service (at) stirlingkit (dot) com or monacai1818 (at) gmail.com or their listed
This depends hugely on where you live and how many times you run it. Here is New Zealand, our tap water is basically thousand year old artesian spring water...so, pretty good. If I see scale I wash a bit of vinegar then rinse with dishwashing liquid. You should absolutely use distilled water if you care. More importantly, empty it afterward!!!
Bonjour Thomas, Everything seems simple in your hands ! For information, the two screws in the cylinder are actually called "drain cocks" and are used to let the water not compressible go out of the cylinder when it is cold. In real life, they are closed only when the cylinders are really hot to avoid any damage due to remaining water in. I don't see any pressure gauge, it could be interesting to add one to know the working pressure. Amicalement, Raphaël
I agree, it's a great deal for the level of detail and engineering. It absolutely is, I think they've done the classic layout justice and aimed it at just the right market ... teens and those of us who suit an easy kit. Great price I think with 15% off. I wish them success
Just tried to buy this kit and it refused the thomas15 code saying the standard 15% was already applied so no further discount. $330 price... not $280.50 perhaps you might take that up with Stirling?
I'm going to look into that, thanks for raising it. I will do it right now. Did you get the same thing saying $280 though? On the page? Still says 280 for me. I sent a snapshot to stirlingkit. Check that if you proceed, right before you pay, the amount is right. Look for other charges added on, like freight insurance, if you feel safe to your country, don't pay for that. I don't mind if I don't get "credit" for the referral in any way (I don't do it for the shop credits) but I appreciate you letting me know:)

I have never heard of this ! ""There was one at the Royal Polytechnic Institution in London with forty-six jets, and which gave sparks two feet long; it was a fearsome machine, making a deafening noise, and producing 22-inch (560 mm) sparks; it knocked out a man who got too close and killed a large Newfoundland dog. (I hope the latter was not deliberate, but I suspect it was) The electrical breakdown strength of air at sea level is about 30 kV/cm, so that represents 1,680 kV. Over a million volts!" - Googled
@ThomasPCGuruENGINES crazy that was right at the beginning of man's electrical journey. It would be neat to retry the system with today's tech. The boxwood tips and chiller seem to be the only thing different from a standard boiler.. I am hoping to make a few tips to try out...
Hey Thomas, it’s Dave Watkins here from New Plymouth. I am having a wee bit of trouble with StirlingKit. I ordered an engine from them, several weeks ago. The web site said it was in stock, I placed the order payed extra for rapid delivery. Three days later I got some bizarre email saying the order was cancelled. Sent an email and was told that the engine was out of stock but being replace tomorrow. I let it slide for another few weeks and made contact again a few days ago. I got another oddly worded email saying they were stocking taking at the factory??? Have I been stitched up are they a reputable company? I used the official Stirling kit web site. Can you share your experience and do you have a contact I could reach out to? Regards Dave W
I am so sorry to hear about your experience Dave, and hope you get it sorted out, it's frustrating ...when you say "stitched up" have you paid? Check the URL of the website you went to. Stirlingkit.com have been around since the very beginning of the Chinese model engine boom when there were just model Stirling engines available. Mona Cai has been customer support rep for ages support [at]stirlingkit.com or service@stirlingkit.com or monacai1818[at]gmail.com. Her English is really good. You will still find some translation issues occasionally; odd phrasing etc I am used to now. What was the engine? They do get let down by their suppliers sometimes, that I know. And they seem to be in a feud-to-the-death with Enginediy.com, whose website and prices often run identical...maybe ex-employees? I have definitely seen fake websites offering model engines and other stuff from China. The only two I have dealt with are the legit ones Stirlingkit.com and Enginediy.com, who I feel safer with than aliexpress. The only engine I gave a bad review for was a flagship Mendocino motor (solar thing) with absolutely appalling build quality... It's definitely OK to be up-front with their support if you have been out-of-pocket for awhile and think communication and supply is not good enough. They are legit businesses and will get you your stuff. In my experience, anyway. Good luck

@thomaspcguryengines do you use distilled water or tap water?
If you use tap water, what do you use to clean mineral build-up?

I remembered "drain cocks" later...thank you. I'm glad my viewers don't mind when I use the wrong words on the spot. Which I do all the time!
It looks like a good deal for that low price for sure! 😊
