I picked #1 and everything was spot on. We met 15 years ago, both passionate about music performance and pursuing it in college. He and I are from different countries, different backgrounds, etc. Even though we are of the same ethnicity, I didn't grow up in my origin country/culture due to being adopted as a baby and raised in the US/Midwest. My adoptive family is Scandinavian heritage, so it's a contrasting upbringing.
Anywhoo, it was odd that we crossed paths or even became friends due to our different areas of study even though in the same school.
One day he saw me walking and tried to talk to me, but I was not in the mood so tried to make short talk. He somehow roped me in and convinced me to eat a leaf because he said he eats this particular leaf in salads in his country. I of course tried it...only to realize he pranked me. He started laughing. I was so angry thinking, "He's immature and I can't stand him." But when he said goodbye he gave me a hug and I saw his eyes clearly and I felt that feeling of, "I don't know why, I feel like I know him. But I also am terrified of this intensity. I don't like this. I can't fall for someone I just met. Never. I'm not going to be weak."
So I went out of my way to avoid him, but no matter where I want, he was there....even odd places like random buildings on campus in hard to reach or hidden nooks.
Then the following summer we somehow ended up having to carpool together to a summer long gig. It forced me to have to talk and we ended up close friends. So much that his friends started to ask, and even another girl went out of her way to seek out one of my friends to find out if we were together.
As fall approached we ended up in the same orchestra, and he always tried to get my attention by throwing paper at me. I still thought he acted like a child, but we laughed so much, practiced together, supported one another's dreams and above all else respected each other. He even introduced me to his mother who said she had a dream about me even though we have never met, dont speak the same language, etc.
One day I found myself particularly depressed washing dishes in the basement of a building, tucked away by myself. No one new where I worked because I was so embarrassed. So I stood there and realized I was longing for him. I just wanted to be beside him whenever possible. I felt sad because I didn't know if he felt the same. Then I heard a voice and I looked up and he was standing there. We didn't say anything, and he just grabbed me and held me. My boss caught us and asked him to leave. I still don't know how he ran into me there. This was before smartphones or Facebook. Haha
I finally built up my courage to tell him how I felt. I wanted to tell him that I loved him, but only unconditionally. Because I could never imagine being romantic as we would make each other miserable due to our maturity and age gap. I knew that we would hurt each other because of how intense things felt and I didn't want to go there. I didn't understand our connection but wanted him to know that I had feelings but don't know what to do with them.
Before I could, he already shot me down. I think he felt the same intensity and ran away. Just ignored me and then finally told me he just wanted to be friends.
I was so heartbroken and we didn't talk for a while. I poured all my pain into other guys...one in particular, and as soon as things started to look serious, he came back into my life. Again being there at performances I did that no one else important to me attended. He was there in a way that no one else has ever been.
We started collaborating and getting closer again. I tried to pull away again because I didn't want to get hurt, but he kept seeking me out whenever I pulled away.
When he moved away for grad school I at first unknowingly kept giving my heart to him through gestures. I sent him cards, gifts, spoke often over the phone. Then reality hit and I told myself it's time to move on. After a long time had passed and I finally asked a guy out and planned a date, that very same day I received a voicemail from him out of the blue. He asked in a solemn voice if I forgot him. My heart sank.
Long story short I ended up losing my ability to play because of a rare neurological disorder.
We got even closer and I traveled to see him play, and one time I ended whatever this thing between us was...I told him I would never visit again. Flung myself into a terrible relationship with some other guy after that which traumatized me. I gave up on relationships and prayed that my heart just heal and to give me a healthy relationship when it's time.
I went off to grad school and moved. It was during this time I met my fiance (met as friends in 2013, started dating in 2015, moved in together, got engaged in 2017 and set our date for 2021).
However, I briefly reconnected with him at the beginning of last year because my intuition told me he was going through a difficult time. I too was struggling, but felt this strong pull and became worried. I really hesitated to reach out until I visited a psychic (about something unrelated) who told me I need to reach out at this time.
Then this year I have gone through medical problems and relationship issues. I started to isolate because my fiance and I want different futures and our values are different as well. Lots of arguments over having kids or not.
After undergoing surgery my fiance and I decided to try our best to make it work. Then came the news I need a hysterectomy which will take away my ability to carry a child.
This has added that much more stress and sadness. So now we are trying even harder to overcome our differences while mourning.
Amongst all of this my former best friend who I've been writing about this whole time...he showed up out of nowhere while traveling through. He happens to live in the state next to me now. We hadn't seen each other in a decade. I thought it would help me feel better but to be honest, I felt a lot of tension again ....we had a lot of fun catching up, but my gut feeling is that he saw that my relationship was falling apart and wanted to see how things are between us, if anything is still there, but when I told him I love my fiance and want to make things work, I felt walls between us. I felt like I lost my best friend all over again and when he drove away, I felt just like I always have....that I love him still, but life will never allow us. And wr are never at the right point in our lives. Plus I would never betray my fiance in this way, and also I know he would never cross that line. But some small part of me was hoping we could resolve our feelings and get closer by being open about our past and history . And then moving on from there as friends. I definitely don't want to lose him because it's like you said, he is like a divine family connection and the only person I feel "gets me" , besides my identical twin sister. He also has always been the person that inspires me most to be the best I can be...as we both still respect each other highly. I love his passion, humor, and determination, he says he commends my inner strength, sweet heart, and courage to face all odds.
You were spot on that he is extremely busy and lots of pressure. I could tell when he visited he was depleted. I just wanted to give him that peace. You are also correct that I am in a similar yet different field. I was a music teacher, abd he is a music professor. I an now a music administrator, but also a known and respected advocate for musicians injuries. He is respected for his status and professional talent.
I forgot to mention that back in the past when I told him I would never see him again, I also explained my feelings for him. I have stuck with the belief since then that I love myself more than anyone and my needs come first... I don't chase others anymore, so I won't chase him. I already was the giver in whatever weird lopsided relationship we had....call it plutonic, but our connection has never been nothing short of divine.
I will be testing for ovarian cancer soon and if I end up positive, I've decided I am no longer letting anyone get in my way, whether a twin flame, soulmate, divine connection, etc. I just want to be the best version of myself and love myself. He believed in me in the way I needed to in myself, but it took me a lifetime to learn that and still struggling choosing myself over others. 💕

Pile No. 2. Oh my... It resonated so well it gave me goosebumps. It kinda made me cry a little with the card that says its been there all along. Because it has.
