    -The first mistake: overthinking. The solution is to get present in the moment. Keep it simple. Breathe, look around, talk to people…
    -The second mistake: shiny object syndrome. This is where you go from thing to thing without sticking with decisions for long. Commitment and perseverance are needed.
    -The third mistake: taking the wrong advice. Only take advice from people who have gone through it and recovered themselves.

    Thanks, this really resonates. Number 2 is my biggest issue, though it is more around commitment. I know *what* I need to do but I often start something and then get very easily knocked or upset when it doesn't seem to be working and I experience a huge flare up. I am trying to change my perspective on symptoms to address this, so I can just stick to one path and really commit.

    This might be my favourite video of yours so far. It's not that you say anything that you haven't said in various videos, but the way you say it really connects for me. (And YES, I am an over thinker!) Thank you.

    Such a good video! Omg cfs recovery is going through a serious evolution and is just next level. I haven’t even finished watching the video but point number one is such a revelatory game changer. Particularly because I spend about 4 to 5 hours at night just laying there and not being able to go to sleep and I’m such an Overthinker.

    Got covid three months ago, long covid symptoms for last 6 weeks. Said to doctor "feels like my nervous system is amped up", tests show nothing so far, diagnosed long covid. Has been getting worse, was having dissociation over the weekend. Last four days have decided to be "relentlessly positive" and symptoms have retreated immensely. Randomly found your videos, resonated immediately, symptoms and personality type. Wondering if you have some advice / plans for people just this, to help them "nip it in the bud" before it goes too far.

    I agree with the gist of the video, but not really with the way you talk about the nervous system's intentions for putting us through these symptoms. It's not baiting us or doing this to try and trick us. It's trying to protect us based on the previous experiences we've had and the coping mechanisms we've learned to use in life. So we don't have to fight it or look at it as a trap, instead we can look at it as our nervous system trying to protect us, but being maybe a little overprotective. Swatting away can be replaced with compassion that this way of stopping us being active to protect us was maybe once needed, but now we don't need it anymore and we can reassure ourselves that we are not in danger. Then we can slowly show the body that the stimuli we are exposing ourselves to are safe by reacting calmly and lovingly while doing things.
    This is what works for me, anyway. Not combative language and belittling my nervous system for soing what it is doing, scolding the symptoms for creeping up like non-obedient children. Instead what works is compassion and teaching it more helpful threat assesment and coping responses when exposed to stress. Encouragement, taking breaks and trying again while looking for positives in each step. It helps me to not fuel the fight/flight response, but trying to be in the calming and connected parasympathetic nervous state while recovering.
    I find this difference in approach really important and helpful on my journey.

    Miguel, Can you please make a video on how to catch negative thoughts about the symptoms? I feel like it’s so hard to know what I’m thinking about what’s happening.. I can’t verbalize it… it’s probably just perception of my condition in general which I don’t even notice or I got used to it coz it’s been 7 years

      Yes, Its stress causing a high blood pressure. Do meditation. Your system is literally under pressure, you need to calm the nervous system down.

      A lot of the symptoms you don't need to do anything, you just need to leave them be and they go away on their own!
      Have a look at these videos to get a better understanding of what's going on and how the body is trying to recalibrate itself.

    I'm finally getting some traction with how I deal with symptoms and emotions.
    ~ H O W E V E R
    Whenever my fatigue reaches a threshold of what I refer to as CRUSHING, I lose my way.
    Would intense elevated fatigue be considered a 'symptom' or an intensified 'condition'?
    That is to say, should I treat elevated fatigue in the same manner as I would tinnitus or a headache - or - should I respect the higher level of fatigue as a message from my body as needing additional rest?
    I'm so confused on this point - so any guidance here would be gratefully appreciated.

    • @cfsrecovery
      @cfsrecovery  7 днів тому

      Intense elevated fatigue is a defining symptom of CFS/ME. While its severity can fluctuate, making it seem more intense at times, it remains a symptom rather than a separate intensified condition. Proper management strategies can help mitigate its impact and improve quality of life. If you experience a significant worsening of fatigue or other symptoms, it's essential to discuss this with your healthcare provider to ensure appropriate management and support. Can Tension headache be CFS ? I take medication and I can’t feel my laughter it’s like so blocked and numb in my brain. Is it tension or medication side effects? Bc the same meds helped me before 1 year ago for tension. 😢😢

    • @cfsrecovery
      @cfsrecovery  7 днів тому

      While tension headaches themselves are not a symptom of CFS, they can occur more frequently in individuals with CFS due to various factors associated with the condition. How long have you been experiencing this?

      @@cfsrecovery hello miguel. Thanks for the answer. It all started in 2022. My insomnia started in late 2021. And doctors gave me a lot of different medication ( antidepressants, antipsychotics, benzos) and my sleep worsened and all the crazy side effects I had from the withdrawal and while on them. This tension headache persisted and only went away last year in spring for 3 months with help of the Same medication I take now. But this year I also developed tinnitus and this strange blockage in my brain( I understand a joke and laugh but the laughter doesn’t pass through the brain). It’s probably from the on/ off medication that my brain is disregulated or my nervous system? Can emotional stress cause this tension and sensation? If I am nit on meds I have fibromyalgia typ symptoms in my head and shoulder area. And I also have brain fog and cognitive impairment.
