I watched this as a teenager from start to finish and loved every minute of it! Shame it never became a permanent part of Australian super car series, I do understand the irony of wishing a race in New Zealand be a part of an Australian series, but I just think it was a neat track.
I drove that circuit back in the mid-90s (1995? 1996? Too long ago now to remember cleary) in a Nissan Primera GT touring car. What I remember most was how bloody bumpy and slippery the track was along the waterfront, especially at the southern end (before a sharp right-hander) . I think there were train or trams tracks set in the bitumen, and when wet it was like being on ice.
I just watched the video. Yeah, Cable Street - that was where it was so bloody bumpy. Then I think the sharp riight-hander was at the end and you went around Herd Street where the track ran VERY close to that cream building (Telecom NZ? i looked on Google Maps and it doesn't seem to be there any more - all very different now).
I LOVE watching racecars and drivers deal with bumps and undulations on the track.. I must be in the minority, because all tracks are flat as billiard tables these days.. Oh well, plenty of these wonderful old races on youtube to smile to..
I think this matter should also be done towards the R32 in the Macau Guia Race before this Nissan Mobil 500, not implementing 140kg (from unrestricted 1260kg to penalized 1400kg, 600hp) unlike to this Gibson R32 running in an unrestricted 1325kg, 700hp.
David Oxton used to have a workshop on Carltongore Road in Grafton auckland back in the day,180 SX pace car cool man them E30 M3 4cly are crazy fast and well developed ,Group A was the best ,Nissan GTR ,BMW M3 ,Sierra Cossie ,Commodores ,Toyota AE86 ,TX3 Lasers lol The 4AGE FXGT smokes the Holden VL Group A 4.9 ,SS Brock lol
This telecast was terrible. Whoever they're using in the commentary box from NZ are quite rusty and the grid lineup at the start was horrifically wrong. Hahahahahahaha Makes channel 7 look soooooooo professional.
The VN Group A Commodore with its 5.0L V-8 has to be the one of the best sounding race cars in history, love the on-boards with Brock.
I absolutely 100%agree with that no doubt about it it was awesome love it
Cams let it race even though it was not homologated only 302 built from memory-instead of the rule 500.
Best noise ever from a Group A car,
@@Steveaustin007 it was homologated
@@peterbarber7613 yeah but only because CAMS & Holden were run by the same people. Just like Supercars.
Lol

BMW had great drivers - great team Schnitzer

A real car killer.
It's sort of like Monaco with out the elevation changers
Liam Hoyne It's not that shitty

Once again, the M3 proves itself as the greatest EVER touring car!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I do like the M3., but sadly itt never won on a big circuit like Bathurst
Wonder if it was a hi cas problem on the gtr most delete these days
May you please upload 1993 Nissan mobil 500 Wellington please and Also pukakoe
Nissan gtr was banned after year 1992.
Edit: so I doubt Nissan would've sponsor event where their car does not race.
M3 is DTM car on this race.
